This place is excellent! The food is incredibly tasty, fresh, and full of flavor, and the service is just as impressive. Everything we ordered came out fresh and well-prepared, and you can really tell there's care put into the food. If you're a fan of the type of food you get at 88 Bao Bao, I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try. In my opinion, it's a step above, with a much wider variety of dishes and plenty of choices beyond the usual favorites. Their beef rolls are especially worth ordering, they're much more substantial, packed with flavor, and very satisfying. Another thing that really stood out to me is the space. The restaurant is relatively clean, open, and spacious, which makes the overall experience much more comfortable than some of the smaller, crowded spots in the area. If you're ever near 99 Ranch in Concord, put this place on your list. Great food, generous portions, good service, and a comfortable atmosphere make it well worth checking out. A great spot with authentic dim sum spicy chili dumplings were worth a second order. They even have really good sesame bowl. Honestly, I was happy with everything I ordered my friend ordered the beef roll and he also liked that. Ambience is pretty stale, but it's OK. Dumpling and Noodle House serves very decent food with affordable prices. The average price per dish is around $14-16 with great portion sizes. My favorite dish was the eggplant with garlic sauce. The eggplants were soft. Each eggplant was smothered with the delicious garlic sauce. We had to wait a few minutes for it to cool down because it would burn our tongue, so that's telling that these dishes were freshly made. The beef roll was rolled perfectly and packed with meat and veggies. The combination fried noodle was pretty good. I like the flat noodle version. The pan fried soup pork bun was perfectly made. Look at the browning of the bottom. Crispy. Not burnt nor soggy. Soup was hot, but it was there! Putting chili oil in it after drinking the soup was just satisfying. Lastly, the scallion pancakes would be the only dish I would not order again. It was very thin that I can barely taste the flavor or anything of it. My sister in law was visiting my parents and I and she wanted some dim sum to eat in the area. I have heard of this place and always wanted to try it, so we opted to go here. This used to be where the Togo's sandwich was located alongside Willow Pass Road. Now, it became a dim sum restaurant. Sitting was easy and we were sat right away. Scallion Pancake: I always enjoy this and this was fried perfectly for me. No unique dipping sauce, so I just used the table soy sauce. Otherwise, it was alright for me. Shu Mai: The staple for dim sum. A mixed of pork and shrimp and it was rather good. Though not sure how all 4 ended up in a corner versus being in the middle of the steamed carrier. The flavors were alright and the texture was good. I did enjoy it. Beef Chow Fun: This one helped with the meal. Wanted something a little filling and this bit the spot. The noodles were cooked perfectly for me and it was not too salty. The beef was also alright as well. Green Beans: A very simple dish and I loved it. Can never go wrong with this plate. Pork XLB and Spicy Pork XLB: I am grouping these two together since they are very similar and only differ in spiciness. Overall, I was not impressed with them. They easily tore upon pick up and even using the soup spoon designated for this, I was not impressed. I didn't get much flavor out of it for the pork, and the soup broth was just ok. Everything tasted great. The spicy fried chicken is REALLY spicy, like it had this tongue numbing effect so just beware of that. The pan fried pork dumplings were very crispy on the bottom. We tried a new appetizer, the crispy fish and the portion was huge! Wish it had a little more sauce with it, but still pretty good. Fried well withoult being oily. We always like being here because service is always good and friendly. The place isn't huge but has many seating options so we've had big family meals with 8-10 people or the more usual 2-4 persons. This is a hole in the wall spot I recommend trying. They have a good amount of parking and it's very low key inside with great service. You order off of a QR code and can either order individually or as a group. If you order as a group, I would recommend having 1 person handle the order since it can get a bit chaotic and multiple things can be added to the order without notice. The dumplings are a must have, I don't care which ones you get. They are juicy, flavorful and meaty. Honestly, everything is flavorful here without a single dish that we got lacking. My favorites are always dipped in chili oil so I highly recommend that. If you get the regular pork or any meat flavored XLB, they give you a bit of vinegar on the side that is meant to compliment the soup inside. BE CAREFUL, IT IS HOT. The fish and tofu dish was so refreshing that we forgot I needed to take a picture before digging in, so forgive the lack of, we all had divided up portions before I remembered to take a picture. The fish was very smooth and a refreshing flavor from all of the salty and spicy. And the green beans was very well blanched and sautéed with a good wok flavor to add some greens to the carb and protein loaded meal. My new go-to dim sum spot!! I recently moved and was looking for a new dim sum spot and this place beats my old one! Everything was super fresh, not oily, and very reasonably priced. I tried the Chinese beef roll. I'd never had this before and I was pleasantly surprised how delicious it was. Def will be getting this again. The soup dumplings were delicious and a must try. The other dumplings were good but I think I'll try something new next time. I got a Thai tea on the side and it was good! Inside there is plenty of seating, including half booths. I wasn't sure which lot to park in, but turn into the lot just before the restaurant. Know that it will be worth it! You can order from the table and pay the waiter after. He was polite and got us whatever we asked for. There are indicators that this is a good place because it filled up fast after noon. You can also tell the foods is going to be good by the people who eat there. A diverse group, but I could tell this is a favorite spot for many. My sister ordered 3 of the soup dumplings, 2 orders of the steamed bbq pork buns, and the veggie fried rice, and it was just enough for three ladies. Everything was the best I've ever had. I love a good pretty dumpling, but these were my first soup dumplings and the best freshest pork buns! Have to get the steamed BBQ pork buns! I always loved the scallion pancakes, crispy and tasty . I wanted to try the wonton soup which was a disappointment. The broth had NO FLAVOR other what was picked up by the seaweed so it tasted fishy and metallic. They do give twelve pork wonton in the soup. I used the soy sauce and chili paste as a dipping sauce to season the pork wonton because , the pork wonton themselves were pretty tasteless. . .. seriously no flavor. The eggplant and green beans were delicious. The eggplant was a little slimy and off putting , but the flavor was delicious. The green beans were done just right. The steamed pork buns were good initially, but the taste of cornstarch became evident which made the filling taste off. I was so disappointed that the filling was just not as delicious as it should be. The redeeming quality was the sweet bread. It was soft and had a nice flavor. IWill we go back? YES because we want to try more of the items on their menu. With exception of the scallion pancakes, I won't order the items we ate today, but their menu has many more items and I just need to find the ones that are actually delicious. One last thing. The water tasted off . They might not use a filter for the water and this might be the reason the broth for the wonton soup tasted off. Within the last couple of years, no less than a couple dozen have sprouted up along I-680, including at least five that I counted in the Walnut Creek/Concord area alone. One of them, Dumpling and Noodle House, opened in late 2023. It occupies the space left vacant by TOGO's on Willow Pass Road, directly across the street from 99 Ranch. A group of us came here to celebrate a friend's belated birthday on 05/20/2024. It was quiet when we walked in at 5:30pm. We were met coldly by a Chinese staffer, who told us to sit anywhere we wanted. We opted for a larger table near the back. The interior was spacious and clean. The dumpling theme decor mixing with old style architecture gave it an interesting look. Ordering was done via scanning the QR code at the table. We ordered nine items in total. Below is the breakdown. THE GOOD: Beef Roll - Taste was on point with other dumpling restaurants, although it could have used a bit more beef. Egg Yolk Lava Bun - It wasn't too sweet which was good. The yolk consistency was excellent. THE AVERAGE: Cucumber Salad - It was refreshing but the marinate was bland. Har Gow and Siu Mai - They were pretty pedestrian. Taste was OK, but I recently had better ones at another dumpling shop in the area. Sweet & Spicy Crispy Chicken - It reminded me of the Orange Chicken at Panda Express but not as good. Lots of batter and little chicken. The sauce was neither sweet nor spicy. THE NOT SO GOOD: Pork XLB: The thickness of the dumpling skin and juiciness were passable, but the filling was bland and didn't taste fresh. Combination Stir-Fried Noodles: Noodles broke apart easily and pieces of beef were gristly. Steamed Pork Bun: While the filling tasted OK, the bun was denser than normal and a bit soggy. Service was passable. Despite the coldness from the Chinese staffer, he and his Mexican counterpart did refill our water on several occasions. Pricing was on the high side considering the area they are in. Overall, the entire experience was not as good as I was hoping for. I understand the challenges of running a restaurant these days and hope that this review will serve as useful feedback for the owner. 3 stars is the best I can give them right now. Came in for lunch today and had a wonderful experience! Such a great spot for a delicious food + quick service combo. It's also family friendly with a lot of space and seating. We ordered a lot of different items to try and everything was great. Our server was very kind and did a great job checking on our table. You can definitely tell it's family owned and the food tastes like they just welcomed you into their home for a wonderful meal. I think the only thing holding it back from a 5 star is the ambience. I have been to A LOT of dumpling and noodle places in my time. And this is a place you should not sleep on. Back in the day, Din Tai Fung was the gold standard of juicy pork dumplings. Now-a-days, there are many more choices to choose from. The dumplings here are juicy. The beef roll was tasty. Nice wrap that had a crunch to it. The noodles we ordered were just okay. Overall not bad for a dumpling spot. My favorite was the pan fried dumpling and the soup dumpling. Don't expect to see the carts going around d and you picking off what you want. This is a made to order type of establishment. The fried rice lacked in flavor for me. I've also had better shrimp and chive dumplings so I wouldn't opt to get that again.
