Even with a 20 min delivery trip the food was so good. I highly recommend going for the house special menu. We got the Tea Smoked Duck, Spicy Crispy Fish, Ma Po Tofu and Tasty Flounder Fillet - the spice was strong but so flavorful and not overpowering. The cold lightly pickled cucumbers are a great fresh counterbalance to the warming spice. Highly recommend - oh and the kids ordered regular standard Chinese dishes like General Tso and chicken and broccoli and loved them as well.

Before going to the restaurant, I've been craving a nice Braised Beef noodle soup and they didn't disappoint! Such great flavors and great portion for the price ($13/bowl). The beef was perfectly braised and ripped apart tenderly . The broth was delicious and on point . Definitely satisfied my craving and exceeded my expectations! Waitstaff was great and attentive, filling up our tea without even asking. Service was quick and efficient. Highly recommend this authentic restaurant! They charge a 3% surcharge for credit cards to be sure to bring cash if you want to avoid the fee. Plenty of parking in the Plaza.

Look. Others have said it for years and years. The crowds every night are telling. This place is a…read morelocal institution. The last couple of times I tried to come here, the wait was out the door, so long that my group bailed. So I called tonight, just two people, and we went right in with no wait! Third time's the charm. This place is as charming on the inside as it is on the outside. If it seems overdone on the outside (make sure to enjoy the live koi!), it gives way to tasteful elegance on the inside. There is no dress code, but don't wear shorts or a T-shirt. Level up a bit. For those who remember Chengdu 46, that's what it's like here - upscale ambiance without being a gourmet restaurant. That said: this is gourmet cuisine. I ordered from the full page of Chinese authentic recipes: Szechuan boiled stew - with beef as it is the traditional meat, I was told. SIde of rice, extra spicy. When it came out, presentation: 10/10. My stars, that was enough food for an entire family. I took my first bite and immediately stopped responding to the outside world. How was my food? I nodded. Other than more water and requesting a second bowl of rice (which was gladly provided at no fee), I went through pretty much the entire gigantic platter in one go. That. is five stars. My mother said chicken and mixed vegetable was 5 stars delicious. The only flaw was too much starch in the sauce, but a review later confirmed that traditional Chinese sauce does use a lot of starch. Authentic through and through. And if you couldn't tell from this, service is also gourmet. You are greeted immediately, escorted straight to your seat, and water appears. Utensils appear. WIth the size of this restaurant and the population ordering inside, there is almost always a staff member walking by your table. If they don't notice you need something, all you have to do is signal or ask, and it will be yours. Chopsticks. More water. More rice. To-go container. Young, old, different dress, we had at least 8 different people come by at some point for something. Spectacular. Out came the bill. In the end, it wasn't all that much for the quantity and quality of food that we got. Now I'm forewarned next time I come: bring my appetite. And more people to share all the food. Join me.

American Chinese food was ok, though much of it was still off-temperature due to the commute over. The rice and noodle was just-ok. Not as good flavor as an AJ Bistro. Gold coin steak was saucy, yes, but meat was tough. General cho's was soggy. The more authentic Chinese dishes, though, were much better - the xiaolongbao were good, BBQ spare ribs people liked (I found too dry and lacked flavor in the middle of the rib meat, needed more marination), Shanghai bok choy with mushroom was great, lobster & scallion was excellent. Seared green beans were good. Overall, mixed bag on dishes - I think it'll be better when I go to eat in-person.

Let me get one thing straight. Shan Shan Noodles doesn't care about this review. They don't care if…read moreyou come. Why? Because they are busy AF. They are buzzing. We went for the first time Sunday at like 3pm? Full. Take out orders flying out the door. It's a cute place. Standard strip mall aesthetic. But they do have a window where you can see them hand pulling the noodles. That's right, hand pulling the noodles which is the main attraction. The food is from the North Western part of China near Pakistan so there are some Indian influences like their Cumin lamb and pulled noodles one of their most popular dishes. But I'm getting ahead of myself. With my vegetarian wife who as usual ruins everything by insisting we order vegetarian appetizers. Scallion pancakes were delicious. No pictures because we ate them immediately. Pan fried dumpling. 9 of them. That's a big portion. And it was like 9-10 bucks? They make their own dumpling wrappers, their own dipping sauces. Dumplings were very good. You could really taste the vegetables. Focused on the quality of the ingredients. My wife had the hand pulled noodles in hot oil. Marked spicy it was American spicy. Did not blow your head off. O enjoyed them. They give you a pair of scissors. Because it's one long noodle. Do not use them on your birthday. More on that later. I had the aforementioned cumin lamb and pulled noodles. I liked it but it was overwhelmingly cumin flavored which obviously is the point of cumin lamb. I'm not saying over seasoned I'm just saying it announced itself as this is cumin lamb. Period. We also had bubble tea! How fun is that? My wife had taro which they made with non dairy milk for her. I had pomegranate with exploding bubbles. Never had those before. Also super fun. They did not explode in an American way or even a Chinese way as both countries let's face it are pretty well known for making things explode. No in a pleasant way. Waitress was delightful we had obviously a long conversation about the food and the restaurant. The scissors are for Americans who share their food. In China you would eat the noodles slurp them without cutting them because eating long noodles especially on your birthday is supposed to promote a long life. We did not learn this until after cutting my wife's noodles. It was her birthday. I will miss her but also look forward to meat based appetizers. One door closes and all that. They also own the bakery a few doors down. Very light chiffon style cakes. Not too sweet. Chocolate Oreo cake. I asked if that was very traditional. Oh how we laughed at my hilarious joke.

The dumplings were flavorful, hot, and perfectly steamed. They were definitely the highlight of our meal. Next came the beef pancake which was crunchy, chewy, had excellent flavor, but slightly heavy on the sauce. Lastly, was the braised beef noodle soup. The broth's flavor was on the mild side, whilst relying on the spice's heat to shine as the primary flavor. The beef was also mild, but especially tender. There was also a good amount of proteins in the soup and the hand pulled noodles were perfectly thick and chewy. Overall it was a great dish for a chilly night out.

When we started driving, it was raining like crazy. It honestly felt like we were driving through the middle of a storm, so we took it slow and finally reached the restaurant. To our surprise, the place was almost packed. The restaurant is right by the lake and has a beautiful location. By the time we arrived, the rain had stopped, so I spent a few minutes in the parking lot just enjoying the lake view. We got a table by the window because the outdoor deck was closed due to the rain. Otherwise, I would have definitely picked a table outside. We ordered: Shrimp Tempura - It came with 3 shrimp. It was okay, but we felt it was a little bland. Black Pepper Chicken & Shrimp Sizzler - This was the best dish of the evening. It comes sizzling right to your table, and all the smoke makes it look so tempting. It had 5-6 big shrimp, sliced chicken, broccoli, and other veggies. Everything was cooked well and tasted great. Easy 5/5. Chicken Basil Fried Rice - I like spicy food, and this one had a nice kick. Really enjoyed it. The service was friendly. The only thing I didn't like was that they don't serve tap water, so you have to buy bottled water. The ambience is really nice and doesn't feel like a typical Chinese restaurant. Overall, we had a great experience. We'll definitely be back, especially on a nice evening to sit outside on the deck and enjoy the lake view. Glad we found this place!

It's sort of Flushing very West. Often we are among the few diners who are not Asian. Food is excellent, authentic and reasonable. Yes I said reasonable. Quantities are large and often you take home leftovers for tomorrow. The kitchen is very accommodating to vegetarians, or just don't eat some food like pork and those who want less spicy food. Great dishes - I go with several mostly adventurous eaters so here goes - Cumin Lamb, Dan Dan noodles, Beef and Tripe with Chili Sauce (true confession I love tripe), Hot and Sour soup, Hunan Fried Fish with Spicy Sauce, Hunan Whole Braised Fish and Sichuan Mapo and Sichuan Fried Fish. One absolutely wonderful dish is Eggs with Tomatoes, which is sort of street food in China, as well as in many other cultures. It's simple and delicious. I've taken to making it at home using a New York Times recipe. But don't think the "regular" dishes aren't prepared with the same care and aren't as tasty. They are. The setting is pleasant and they have several tables with Lazy Susans so you can swirl food around. Service is prompt and quick. And if you get a dinner, you get ice cream!

The mongolian beef and the spicy crispy short ribs were my faves from this visit. Can't wait to try other things on their menu next time! Please note, entrance and parking is in the back after you turn in, not the front. And there's a slight discount if you pay in cash.

The restaurant's dining room was still spacious and nicely adorned, and they even had a lovely outdoor patio, though it overlooked an Acme parking lot. Our server was a delight and completely went above and beyond for us. The food, however, was mediocre. The Pork Soup Dumplings were our favorite item, as their broth and meat were extremely flavorful. However, about two of the six had holes in them, so some of the soup had escaped before they were even removed from their bamboo steamer. The Spicy Chicken Dumplings came in a generous portion of ten, but the fiery poultry inside had a strong "chicken" flavor, if that makes sense. Lastly, we had the Chicken Chow Fun, which was extremely bland and full of gummy noodles. That chicken was tender and had a better flavor, though. I just looked back at my last review to see that we had ordered the same noodle dish previously, and, while it similarly had very little sauce on it, the plate had been much more enticing back then. I also saw a bunch of gnats flying around near our table, which was not appetizing, but in fairness, it was a very hot evening. Despite our mixed experience, the dishes being delivered to neighboring tables all looked amazing. I would like to think it was just an off-night and would be willing to give the place another shot.
