Sea salt is added to generate the ionization process as an electrical current passes through the array. A reaction occurs and the water begins to change color. At the end of the session, your water will look the color of baby poo. I have been curious about detox foot baths for a while now and thought it was about time to treat myself to one and see what really happens. I am interested in body cleansing procedures that border on gross: ear candling, pore strips, deep facial and such. I found Debbie Parks via Google and made an appointment. Her office is in such a great location, right on the corner of Oak and 19th and was easy to find. The atmosphere upon entering was calming and quiet. The room is small but partitioned off nicely. and adorned with Christian-based and positive wellness related décor. Most people would find it comforting. Debbie sat me on a raised chair next to a large sink which held a footbath. She added salt and the coil to the water. For the first few seconds I couldn't get the thought of electrocution out of my head and I panicked inside. The warm water felt wonderful, so I sat back and allowed my feet to be treated. I read some information posted on the wall in front of me about the colors that my water will become and what each color means. Tiny bubbles fizzed around my feet. The water gets darker. Orange. Then green. Then a brown foam appears. It was all very interesting. Debbie has a massage table set up in the room to provide light treatment sessions as well as a sauna. She provides other wellness practices that she spoke of during my foot bath, consisting of natural and holistic measures to promote wellbeing and gave me stories of testimonials. I also noticed on her price list that she offers ear candling as well. I'm tempted. Debbie was polite and kind and offered up some hot tea, which I always love. When it was over, she explained the meaning behind the things we saw as we dumped the foot bath, emptying the grossness into the sink and studying it. Again, very interesting. I would have preferred to have some socks or slippers to immediately put on to my feet after they were treated. If you plan a visit, maybe bring some of your own unless you're cool with just putting your shoes back on right away. I believe this might be one of my personal neurosis. If you prefer to take the holistic approach when it comes to wellness, love Jesus and conversation, I would suggest meeting Debbie.
