They are so personable they get right in there and share how they did it how they do it and what they want to do in the future. Their competitors are no slouch but they would have to go through so many more esteem-able situations and circumstances to touch these down To earth group of guys they are the most helpful kindest people I've encountered in my visiting of all the local recycle centers in the area. they are fair go above and beyond and are fun to talk to. They are truly self made with a hint of the old faith thats lost in this day and age. It's nice to see it still works and they are the ones in gainful business because of it.... Thanks guys o

The staff is very supportive, although they appeared to be short staffed today. Apparently, others have discovered this special location as it was very busy today and people were lined up but we were in and out in 15-20 minutes. NOTE: Although, the signs say no crushed, if you are able to get the bar code available to be read, you should be ok. We just twist the item to semi-uncrushed so bar code can be read. Whatever you do at home, do not remove the wrapper with the bar code. Also note that more items are now recyclable. While we do recycle glass, we find glass to be not worth recycling due to weight and price per pound but we continue to do be recycling partners for California, even if it's glass.

Sims always provides good prices since they are a large international company. There is always a long line so be prepared to wait. They are closed for lunch at 10:45-11:45, so avoid going at that time. There is a non-ferrous building where items can be placed in 4'x4' bins and weighed. Recycling tin/iron is accomplished by driving onto a scale to enter the scrap area and driving off of the scale upon exit to determine the scrap weight. Large aluminum scrap such as engines/transmissions can also be deposited through the drive on scale area. Be sure to bring a hard hat and vest. They have loaners if you don't have the required safety gear, but it may not be clean. They no longer take CRV items. Now it is not crowded with homeless people since this used to be the main CRV recycler of the entire population of downtown homeless. There is a building to receive payment. They are very vigilant about preventing scrap metal theft. You must present your driver's license in order to recycle metal. Thumb print may also be required depending on what is being recycled. They will also make you look at a camera so they can take a clear picture of your face. Payment for non-ferrous metals is provided in 3 days and you can come back to receive cash or elect to have a check mailed.

I told her I had boxes of asphalt, and she told me asphalt was free to dump. I thanked her and mentioned that I'd be coming back with more boxes, and she said that was fine. I dropped everything off and went back to my shop for the next load. When I came back later, a different guy was working. I told him the same thing, that I had boxes of asphalt to dump. He said it would be thirty five dollars. I told him the lady earlier said asphalt was free, and he said that only applies without the boxes. I told him she never mentioned that, but he didn't seem to care. He also said that if I wanted to dump the asphalt out of the boxes into the concrete section, someone would have to watch me, like he didn't trust me. At that point I just paid the fee because I didn't feel like arguing. It was frustrating getting two completely different answers on the same day. The first lady was great and handled things professionally. The second guy, not so much. The only reason I came here was because it's close to my shop, but after that experience I'll probably go somewhere else. Just know it might depend on who you get at the booth.
