It's been my go to since 2007... Maybe even before that but I use to go to the landfill in Lincoln, near Thunder Valley Casino. Someone referred me to DC METALS because they give more for your recyclables versus working hard to collect your items for less, regardless of weight. I then decided this was the place I will go to from now on that gives what you deserve when turning in your recycled items. The people there are helpful, straight to the point. It's not the cleanest place to pull up to or the biggest compared to Lincoln's landfill, but I feel they still get the job done. read more

If zero or negative stars could be a option I would put it, a couple days ago me and my dad come by sit at the front gate for 5 minutes as we watch 2 people before us either not wait or go to a open stall on their own, after we waited for a worker for said 5 minutes we did the same rolling past every single worker no issues, unload recycling and finally getting weighed when all the sudden the manager comes flying out of the little white house yelling and screaming at my dad like hes gonna fight him saying that we went through the back gate and that we need to get our recycling and to "f*** out of here and hes not having that s***" as he runs up on my dad with aggression like he was going to get physical. While my dad i kept trying to explain that we waited we kept getting accused of going through the back gate until he finally ran off again and really checked the cameras and noticed we actually did nothing wrong then also never came out to apologize or do anything to make the situation calm or better let alone did also not approach respectfully or with in proper evidence of the accusations, the front desk wont treat you politely or with respect either even when trying to be polite after the incident and asking questions respectfully, very poor attitudes and customer service. Would recommend you think about another place before trying this one you might deal with something similar. I mean cmon were not even checking cameras properly and you almost got physical because of it... not cool we will be taking buisness elsewhere we wont have to worry about getting physical over recycling be careful everyone! read more

How -- or rather why -- do you write a Yelp review about a recycling center? You do it when it exceeds expectations of efficiency and friendliness. I have taken my recycling to them several times and each time I was in and out before you knew it and the staff were friendly and helpful. They have multiple bays to park in and although you should prepare to sort -- or preferably pre-sort -- your cans and bottles yourself, a crew member steps up to get you moving with a smile and a magical ability to sort the plastics from the glass. They advise that you have only 10 minutes to sort, but that never seems to be an issue. At a now-closed recycling center I used to go to, the staff was disinterested and the lines were long. It could be a half-hour to 45 minute chore. Not at D C Metals. I've never spent more than 10 minutes there, and from sorting to weighing to getting the redemption money to driving off goes so quickly you'll be smiling. A heads up though: they close down for lunch so you may not want to drive up right at noon. read more

I've been coming here for the past 2 years off and on simply to recycle cans. The staff and the cashier are always prompt and friendly. They greet you as soon as you pull up into a spot and help you dump your items in the wire bins to get them weighed. There are a plethora of employees to help things run smoothly so you are in and out in a jiff. I usually tip the person who helps me that's nice. Great place and fair price. Great! Was in and out within 10mins and it was pretty busy. Drove in parked in an open spot and someone came right away to help me out. I had glass, plastic and aluminum. Believe I had four bags total, the assistant separated the glass out and weighed it all. As of May 2018, glass is .10c, aluminum is $1.70 and plastic is $1.24 a pound. Walked out with $49 cash. I've never felt like they grade incorrectly and the weights have been accurate. It's usually not crowded on weekdays so service is immediate. I always separate the metals types before arrival and call to request market prices if necessary. This place has outdoor bin hoppers with all types of copper, brass, aluminum and others. Their forklift can bring a hopper right next to your vehicle to make unloading easier. This place needs to be cleaned up because you run over nails and broken glass and other things and it's hardly ever clean, they really need someone cleaning all the time so this place would be more kept up. When I recycle, I only come here. I'll pull up. They tell me which parking spot to go into. Then they come with big large garbage, cans and separate and put everything together for me. Stopped by this location for some recycling and found it to be very well organized, they kept people moving and I was in and out in just minutes. I recommend them to anyone looking for a good recycling experience. The only one issue I had with the experience is that their were not good signs to inform customers about the vehicle flow through the lot and I ended up going the wrong way and a lady started honking at me. Located in Rio Linda, this is the recycling center that my husband and I frequent as the only recycling centers in Natomas are run out of a shipping containers. It's a bit of a drive to DC Metals but it is totally worth it. The only other recycling center I have been to is the one on Power Inn after Folsom Blvd and have only those experiences to gauge DC against. With that said, I absolutely love DC Metals! They have a streamlined process where you park in the pre-arranged "parking spots" (areas designated by various trash cans and cones) and grab either the plastic or metal bins to sort your glass, plastic, and aluminum. During the sorting process, an employee will usually head over to help you sort your items but if it is busy, you may be on your own. After you are done sorting, your recyclables are weighed and you are given a sticky note that you take to their office's window where you are given cash and a receipt. As a tip, I would avoid the afternoons on the weekend as the line will be backed up onto the street. This was the case this morning, so we flipped a U and started a line off the side of the road near the entrance so we didn't back up traffic but also ensured our space in the line. As with all recycling centers, it is grimy and there is usually a good amount of broken glass scattered across the area so I would avoid flip flops and make sure you bring lots of Purell to clean the recycling goop off your hands. read more

My wife and I needed to unload some of our recyclables yesterday morning as they were taking up way too much room in our garage. So, I went on my phone and Yelped recycling centers and stumbled upon D C Metals & Recycling. D C Metals is out in the 'countryside' of North Highlands on property. They have several bays for you to park your car in and an employee greeted us almost right away to help us sort our bags. I was really surprised that any of the staff even noticed since there were SO busy! Once the gentlemen helped us with all of our recyclables we were handed an itemized receipt and lead to a cashier. I went it to turn in my scrap metal. I sort it my self take it up my self. No problem.. finally someone stops to help me. Standing while the weight master sorts through my barrels. As more people show up. My Dogs start to act up. I walk away to tend my animals. I assume the weight master would continue on with my mental. Get it on the scales, extra. I return with in three minutes or less. The weight master is coming back from dumping one of my barrels. Looks at me wide eyed. While I raise my hand for my slip. It dawn's on me he didn't even way it. Now it is co mingled with there other scrap. I was livid. He went back and got 2 motors I brought and one I didn't. I had like 4 more. He explained that when I walked away he became confused and started dumping the barrels. So he starts taking down the barrels weights. He is talking to a co worker about " how do I break a lease?" That what he thinking about. Distracting him at my experience. I just kept my tongue. I didn't want to make a ass out of my self. I know I would have. I'm in my fifty's I have no income this is it. Not bad. Follows ca state law. They are sticklers tho. If they see any welds on your copper pipe they will pay you the dirty rate. Also be sure to remove the steel from your a.c. condenser with a sawzall before recycling or you will get a dirty rate. This can be costly. They won't loan you any tools and won't let u clean up your metal on their property They are kinda far away too to get to They do have the best pricing in town tho. read more
