He's straight forward and nice. Trustworthy, rough around the edges but once you get to know him through the sales process, he is a great guy. The most pleasant car buying experience we've ever had! We found T & A Auto Sales through Car Gurus after seeing a listing for a "great deal". When we arrived, we were quickly welcomed by the shop's owner and only employee, TJ. He told us about the history of the car and disclosed that the radio wasn't working right off the bat. He let us know that he wouldn't sell the car before fixing the issue and that he was already in the process. He shut down the shop to take us out for a test drive and not once did we feel pressured to purchase the car. When we asked if we could take the car to a mechanic, he offered to take it for us (requiring him again to shut down the shop). After our mechanic assured us that the car was in great shape and TJ worked out the radio, we let him know we were interested in purchasing the car. He happily held on to the car for us despite multiple other offers and worked with our schedule as we are not from the Hayward area. Although TJ was not willing to negotiate the price of the car, we agreed that it was already priced in a great position and appreciated that he was open and honest about fixing the radio. After we purchased the car, we realized there was an issue with the new radio and contacted TJ immediately. He apologized sincerely and helped us fix it, even though our contact listed the car as is. My grandson purchased an automobile from this business and it has been breaking down from the first day. He paid $17000 for the vehicle and was in LA the first time it broke down. He had to pay to have it fixed so he could drive it back to the Bay Area. Now he is stuck in LA again because the vehicle he purchased broke down again. He has called the business and they blocked his calls. So now we are going to send a written complaint to the State Consumer affairs Dept., and get an attorney to sue them. I purchased a used car from TJ about two years ago, but finally getting around to giving him the review that he deserves. I was searching Craigslist for a used car with low mileage, and came across one of TJ's listings. Being my first time buying a used car and hearing all these horror stories, I was a bit apprehensive and dug up as many reviews as I could before deciding to visit TJ. I found TJ to be very honest and straight forward. The price that he posted was firm (i.e. non-negotiable), but also very fair. His philosophy is that he only carries cars that he himself would want to buy, so as far as I could tell, everything was low mileage and in great shape. I was concerned about the smell of the vehicle at the time of purchase, but TJ assured me it was just the cleaner that was used and the smell would dissipate. The smell dissipated after a couple weeks, a bit longer than the few days that TJ stated, but otherwise the car has been great. 2 years later, car is still running well and I haven't had to do any maintenance aside from routine oil changes. If I ever have a need for a used car in the future, I will definitely be coming to TJ again. read more

Buyer Beware! I recently purchased a 2007 Murano from this dealer and 1 month after owning it I have had to put $2000 in the car. Car had Multiple Oil and Fluid Leaks and major Steering and Alingment problems, not to mention the car is pretty rusty on the bottom. I was looking for a low mileage Toyota Highlander and found one advertised at T & A Auto Sales in Hayward. I live in Vacaville so I wanted to make sure it wasn't going to be a wasted trip down to Hayward. I called and talked with TJ about the Highlander and I was convinced it would be a worth while trip. When I arrived, I was a bit concerned about the fences and all but when I saw the Highlander and talked with TJ, I felt better about the Highlander. It had real low miles at only 88K miles and was real clean. It has a few bumps and bruises but for a 12 year old vehicle, it was worth the price. I have now owned it for over a month and I absolutely love it. I had it checked out at my local Toyota dealership and they give it a big thumbs up and complimented how nice it was. I wish there were no stars for this place. He has lemon on his lot not registered. He is a very crooked and dishonest man. He held on to my registration for a month, not sure why DMV gave him my registration I'm sure he lied to get it. He overcharged me for registration among other fees. I only had the car for one week I had to replace a thermostat,radiator, front and back brakes. Now I understand as is no warranty but he don't check his cars I guess he just purchase them and sit them the lot for the next sucker. Please don't be that next sucker like I was. I had a print out of 6 from craigslist that met my criteria narrowed down from a month of searching. I showed him I was going to visit and buy one TODAY from the list. He showed me everything: his purchase price contract, carfax, title, DMV fees worksheet, etc. Of course he let me drive it, pop the hood, everything. Also it came with 90 day warranty! His price was at KBB dealer price, which was less than most of the private party sellers price from craigslist also! When we arrived TJ was helpful allowing us to view the car inside and out. He was up front about the large scrape on the front bumper and that he added touch up paint. But failed to mention the touch up paint to the rear right side. After checking the car out we decided to take it for a test drive. The car ran great but the whole test drive TJ mentioning about how people buy cars at auction through credit but he doesn't he pays cash, how kids don't understand financing a car, how he only buys reliable cars that's why he offers great warranty's etc. After the test drive we decided to talk numbers, that was a big mistake. I was interested in doing good business, not trying to be robbed! I offered a price which was at the going rate for that car and added 1k more for tax, lic and registration PAID IN FULL! He was not interested in negotiating, when I mentioned the car is over priced on multiple trusted sites such as Kelly Blue Book and Cargurus a site that he listed the car on! He must of got offended that I did my research and knew numbers, because he quickly became rude and said "I don't care what Kelly Blue Book says, do you know how they get those numbers, If you don't buy ill be happy, it will sit there" So we got up and walked out, he followed us out, and continued to yell at us saying "we wont be able to find another car like this" Little did he know I'm in no rush to buy a car so its no lost for me! My advice is BUYER BEWARE do your research, pay close attention to the car fax and know the going rate for the car " dealer price, certified dealer price, private party price, and even trade in values" not all business is good business. read more
