The chowder tasted of cream, the potatoes were soft and subtle and cooked and cut properly; the clams were fresh and the amount resting the just not enough range. The clam chowder was way too thin and was a soup or broth. The butternut squash soup was underwhelming. The ambiance including decor and vibe is excellent. Fun. The service is classic Maine. Grumpy, slow and impolite with a smile. Drinks are very good. P

My husband and I visited for drinks and spent a few hours at the bar. During the first part of our visit, we had a wonderful time. The atmosphere was friendly, we enjoyed meeting other patrons, including several Canadian Army veterans on a motorcycle tour, and the service from the initial bartender was excellent. We appreciated being allowed to play a complimentary game of pool. Unfortunately, the experience changed dramatically after the bartending shift change. From that point on, we felt unwelcome and believed staff chose to side with a small group of patrons during a disagreement rather than taking the time to understand the situation. Ultimately, we were asked to leave, which came as a complete surprise and left us feeling embarrassed and disappointed. What makes this especially frustrating is that we had spent a significant amount of money at the establishment and had been enjoying ourselves without issue for most of the evening. the way the situation was handled left us feeling dismissed and unfairly treated. Based on this experience, I would not return and don't recommend this establishment to other visitors.

What an amazing dinner for our first night in Bar Harbor…read more Galyn's offers a charming, intimate ambiance that feels like an upscale yet casual classic steakhouse, complete with beautiful dark wood paneling, local art, and a stunning table view overlooking the green and the water. We loved that they were open late, because we arrived in town a bit on the later side. They have impeccable, professional service--from the fresh-cracked black pepper to the delicious mocktails, bread & butter, shrimp cocktail, fresh lobster roll, and shared Burrata Caprese (perfect since my daughter wasn't too hungry). We topped it all off with a phenomenal Maine Blueberry-Apple Crisp. Between the good pricing, excellent food, and a view that alone was worth the visit, it was a wonderful, memorable meal.

We had a wedge salad to start which was served a bit differently with their house-made vinaigrette. My husband chose the lobster enchiladas with rice and veggies and a cilantro cream sauce. These were VERY good and I was jealous. I loved them. I chose the fish of the day which was haddock with rice and veggies and a pesto sauce that was SO good! Very fresh and filling. Large filet of fish on this plate. For dessert, I wanted to try the Indian Pudding a la mode and our server informed me that it was very rich and was somewhat like pumpkin pie, ginger cookies and bread pudding. It was something different, but VERY potent and a bit much for us. We swapped it out for the blueberry apple crumble and were much happier with that. All in all, a wonderful dinner on a rainy night for my birthday. We'd happily come back to this spot for a date night while in town.

Now if you are in search of seafood and/or lobster during a visit to Bar Harbor you could throw a stone in any direction and find numerous options. Some family recommended checking out this spot. Both my wife and I started out with a blueberry margarita that was fantastic. Then for food we both decided on the lobster tacos which comes with an order of two. They did not skimp on the lobster at all and this spot created such a tasty taco I would return for them. Granted the appetizer of a lobster poutine sounded delicious too! The ambiance and overall vibes is good, outside they have many picnic tables to enjoy the sights/sounds of Bar Harbor. Inside they have a couple different areas but a welcoming atmosphere overall. Despite the heat and the fact Bar Harbor is busy during the summer, service was quick as well as friendly. Had no complaints for our visit! Great first visit here!

We did get food to go, but our hotel was just steps away. So not a long journey from the restaurant to our room. We ordered the lobster nachos. It was not edible and they were so expensive. I was looking forward to getting some lobster, but didn't want a lobster roll and thought this would do it. First of all-- everything was mush. Not even soggy, but like all mush and disintegrated. I can deal with soggy-- it's take out so I don't have high expectations for fresh food. But the chips literally dissolved. There was also no cheese? I don't understand how you can have nachos with no cheese. Also, was advertised with sour cream and there was no sour cream. Lastly, I had lobster earlier today at a different restaurant. It tasted so fresh. This lobster was different. Almost like it was bad or even like a little gamey. I didn't eat but that one piece because I'm afraid I might get food poisoning-- something was just off. I'm not very hard to please and will eat pretty much anything from anywhere. The fact that I wouldn't eat the food (especially after paying $32) says a lot. I literally told my husband I would've rather had McDonald's Giving 2 stars only bc the guy on the phone who took our order was super nice.

I will say that everything we got felt like it tasted good, but also very "standard" in a way? The…read morelobsters were incredibly fresh, with soft, buttery meat that practically melted in every bite. Paired with sweet corn on the cob, it was the perfect combination. Sitting outside overlooking the ocean beside the Harborside Marina made the experience even better--the coastal views, salty breeze, and fresh seafood created the quintessential Bar Harbor dining experience. Coastal Dip (not pictured): A warm, creamy seafood dip loaded with lobster, shrimp, and other seafood, served with crispy tortilla chips. It's rich, flavorful, and perfect for sharing before your main course. Oysters: These were a bit disappointing. About half tasted fresh and briny, while the others didn't seem as fresh, making for a mixed experience overall. Looking back, I probably would've skipped the oysters and ordered another lobster dish or their famous lobster roll instead. Blueberry Pie: For $14, this wasn't my favorite. The blueberry filling was a little too sweet for my taste. The buttery crust paired nicely with the scoop of vanilla ice cream, but I don't think it justified the price. I'd save room for something else next time. Cocktails: They have several refreshing cocktail options, but my favorite was definitely the Country Thyme Lemonade. It had a sweet, refreshing lemonade flavor with tequila and other ingredients blended together, and it was served in a beautiful glass that made it feel extra special. The Blueberry Smash wasn't for me--it had an herbal flavor that reminded me a bit of a cleaning product, so I preferred the lemonade by far. Overall, if you're looking for fresh Maine lobster with beautiful waterfront views in Bar Harbor, this is a great place to stop. The lobster is the star of the meal, so I'd stick with the classics and enjoy the scenery. In terms of service, our server was very nice and helpful. I'd be careful though because they aren't organized about their servers - they have one named Mario who came up to our table and started flirting w the girl and it was unacceptable while the family was in the bathroom so I'd say watch out for that.
