We arrived for an early dinner at 5 pm and from the initial greeting we felt like we were in someone's home. Their menu is seafood heavy and inventive. We settled on a whole lobster as an appetizer ($36 market price) which was buttery, succulent and super fresh. The rice pilaf and broccolini that it came with were the perfect accompaniments. For the main course, my partner ordered a grilled salmon and I ordered the haddock with a lemon caper sauce. A week later and I"m still savoring the haddock. Flaky and slightly meaty, the sauce was just zesty and frothy to invite you back for another bite. The capers was an added touch and really brought the dish together. As far as the grilled salmon, you can't get fish fresher than what we had. The hostess was kind enough to steer me through a refresher course on how to crack and eat lobster (with a big on of course!). The waiter was skilled and professional, knowing when to interject, provide suggestions and provide options to make our overall experience even better. You wouldn't find that anywhere in this area. Not unless you buy lobsters at Hannafords and have them steam it with current pricing this season at ($8.99) per pound. And you can't beat the buck-a-shuck oysters on Friday and Saturday, and they have really good clam chowder. This is the only place in Boothbay I look forward to going every summer.
