I'm sure at times this place is extremely busy, but we lucked out visiting right after the parade finished up to enjoy a lunch without a crowd. Now if you are in search of seafood and/or lobster during a visit to Bar Harbor you could throw a stone in any direction and find numerous options. Some family recommended checking out this spot. Both my wife and I started out with a blueberry margarita that was fantastic. Then for food we both decided on the lobster tacos which comes with an order of two. They did not skimp on the lobster at all and this spot created such a tasty taco I would return for them. Granted the appetizer of a lobster poutine sounded delicious too! The ambiance and overall vibes is good, outside they have many picnic tables to enjoy the sights/sounds of Bar Harbor. Inside they have a couple different areas but a welcoming atmosphere overall. I really really dislike leaving bad reviews. In fact, I typically only leave reviews if they're positive. However, this restaurant was so so disappointing for the price you pay. We did get food to go, but our hotel was just steps away. So not a long journey from the restaurant to our room. We ordered the lobster nachos. It was not edible and they were so expensive. I was looking forward to getting some lobster, but didn't want a lobster roll and thought this would do it. First of all-- everything was mush. Not even soggy, but like all mush and disintegrated. I can deal with soggy-- it's take out so I don't have high expectations for fresh food. But the chips literally dissolved. There was also no cheese? I don't understand how you can have nachos with no cheese. Also, was advertised with sour cream and there was no sour cream. Lastly, I had lobster earlier today at a different restaurant. It tasted so fresh. This lobster was different. Almost like it was bad or even like a little gamey. I didn't eat but that one piece because I'm afraid I might get food poisoning-- something was just off. I'm not very hard to please and will eat pretty much anything from anywhere. The fact that I wouldn't eat the food (especially after paying $32) says a lot. I think this is a seafood joint where they make amazing lobster rolls. And you can drink beer. They were fantastic for this. Based on the other reviews. If you're looking for something different. Wonderful place! Our server was so personable and friendly. My boyfriend and I walked in & were immediately sat at 5 pm on a Friday! Very Accommodating in seating us quickly for a last min walk in of 13 women. Suggestions and food variety were great. I got the 1/2 order Sea Food Boil, because... when in Rome (Maine)... it was still WAAAAY too much for me. But it was delish! Perfect level of spice and flavor. The only hiccup I would say is that, we asked prior to deciding to eat there is if they were okay with separate checks, if not could we split it in 3 or 4, they said it was no problem. Easier said than done. It took a lot to figure out who's cost what, and how to figure out tip and tax as well. Seafood pasta came with 4 mussels and 4 clams, 2 of which were just empty shells. It was served to me without the advertised scallops, which I had to ask for. I'm from #FL so take everything I'm about to say with a huge grain of SALT LIFE. I haven't had much lobstah in my life. Why? Most of the lobsters where I'm from are of the spiny variety. Also: as the kids say "It's expensive AF". I've always loved lobster but I rarely eat it. For my first trip to main I HAD to be a tourist and do the lobster thing though, right? The brioche was a bit dry and I wish there was more of the creamy sauce on top. Mac and cheese was flavorful although a bit dry as well. THE best lobster we had in Bar Harbor! We tried all the popular spots in our week there but the lobster roll here takes the cake. The portion and serving of lobster in the roll was generous, and the toasted bun and breadcrumbs made for great presentation and flavor combinations. We ordered the lobster roll, fries and NE clam chowder. The chowder was just okay. The fries weren't necessarily old but they were not made to order. The lobster roll was a disappointment. They serve it in a roll with a bottom layer of shredded lettuce, hot with butter and topped with "crema." That could mean many things so I asked what is your crema. The waiter said something about a line aioli. Why would they top a butter lobster roll with essentially mayonnaise? We ordered two rolls without the crema. The lobster was not freshly cooked and a bit chewy. In fact the lettuce actually added flavor. I guess the crema is added to moisten it and hide the (lack of) lobster flavor. Go across the street to Peekytoe Provisions. One nice thing: we ordered Atlantic Brewing's blueberry ale. The added about a half dozen blueberries in the glass. That was a nice touch. read more
