Overloaded. New service appt person has problems remembering things that were just told (what was your name again? which car? what was it again that you wanted?) Multiple mistakes in a row. Had the car in and the transmission line wasn't put back properly, had to get a master mechanic over in my driveway to put it back so the car was usable. Then had it towed to them and they did repair it for parts cost only, but for a family vehicle and tow it was strike one. Next it was the second time the brake pad sensor failed after coming out of their shop after they did rotors/pads. No memory of it happening before (i finally remembered after reviewing old invoices) Asked them to contact a local shop so i didn't have to have it towed over to them again and they got too busy to do it. Called again the next day and they did call the local shop but forgot if it was the front or rear sensor. I had already ordered both from napa so i told them to just credit my account for the next work we did together when we weren't on vacation and they said to just work with the new mechanic since i didn't want to work with them, i just laughed and hung up. Oh and the new text messaging system they put in isn't monitored and half the staff doesn't have access to it or it doesn't work properly so don't get excited thinking it will make it any easier to keep track of things... read more

Besides true love, the next hardest thing to find in this world is an honest, capable and quality automotive garage to entrust your car too. Honest in that you are never taken advantage of (unlike thier competition). I've been to some of the so-called competition, only to bring my car to Certified, in order to have them correct the mess that was caused by others. Capable because no job is beyond thier skill set. Your car is finished at the time it was promised for, at the price (or less) that you were quoted. Which brings us to quality. I've been too many shops in my day, all across this country of ours. When we moved to Columbia from Wethersfield a few years ago, some of the conveniences one tends to take for granted when living in a big-city metro area became a little less convenient. We no longer had 24-hour grocery stores just a few miles in any direction (they close at 9 or 10 out here in the sticks). No neighborhood pizza joint or butcher shop just a short walk away. Nope...Columbia is essentially a lake surrounded by houses, with a town green straight out of a Normal Rockwell painting. Okay, so there is a 7-11, a gun shop, and a package store, and even a place an aerospace contractor's manufacturing facility (odd) but that's pretty much it (I don't count the Dunkin Donuts. No one should). Some would argue that a packy, a 7-11, a gun shop, and the occasional tofu is all anyone really needs. But when you live in a place where you have to drive just to get to your freakin' mailbox, you also need a good auto mechanic. After buying two new Hyundai's from Key Hyundai in Manchester, we got sucked into their service agreement nightmare. It seemed like I was back there every couple of weeks for "Service A" or "Service D" -- either way, I felt, uh...serviced. And not in a good way. When we moved to Columbia (about 30 miles east of Hartford) it only got worse. Every appointment with Key was a logistical nightmare. One day, while gassing up the Santa Fe at the Columbia 7-11, I noticed that the quickie-mart shared a building with an auto mechanic, Certified Auto Repair, and a marina store (the gun shop is out back -- talk about convenience!). It looked like a decent little place, with three repair bays, so I stopped in and talked to the owner, Josh, about taking over the scheduled maintenance on our vehicles. No prob, he said. Korean, American, hybrid...he worked on them all. Awesome, as this place is less than five minutes from our house. No more 35-minute drives to Manchester amidst Hartford morning commuter traffic! It turned out to be ideal. Josh and his crew are fantastic! I quite honestly have never met a group of mechanics so attentive and great to work with. I even dealt with one repair -- I can't remember what it was for, specifically -- where I was told to just bring the car home and drive it for a couple of days BEFORE I EVEN PAID THEM, and then come back; if I was satisfied that they'd done it right, pay them then, otherwise they'd keep working on it until I was happy. Seriously. When the last time you've seen ANY business do that for you? They'll even drive the car to my house when the repairs are finished! Since then we've relied on Josh and CAR (heh heh...get it?) for all of our auto repairs and maintenance, major or minor. If you're anywhere nearby, like Willi or Coventry/Mansfield, you can't do better. Five stars all the way! read more

Incredible service! I had a flat tire, and they took my tire the same morning I called and had it fixed and put back on my car for an extremely reasonable rate. They even filled up my spare with more air, and replaced it along with my jack back into my trunk for me without me even asking. Above and beyond service and professionalism. read more

Certified Auto was recommended to be by someone who was helping me move a furnace. During routine conversation he mentioned how good they were and how accommodating they were so even though they are about 25 minutes away I thought I'd give them a try for some work I needed on my truck. I thought I'd start slow and come in for an oil change and some diagnostic work I needed. From the time their receptionist answered the phone until the time I left I couldn't have been more impressed or pleased. When making the appointment the receptionist was pleasant, courteous and professional. She took all my info, knew what their work schedule was like and asked me questions that sounded like a doctor asking questions of a new patient. When she read everything back to me she also mentioned as a new customer they would perform a safety check on the truck, at no cost to me, so we all were on the same page as to it's condition. Impressive. I arrived at 8 AM and after checking in, I believe it was one of the owners, came out to confirm what diagnostics I was hoping to get. Nice personal touch. He also came out twice to give me updates and a brief idea of what he thought might be needed. When everything was completed he brought 2 items to my attention and a plan for both. As the truck needs to come back in for more work he suggested I drop it off rather than wait. Being a single dad being picked up and brought back can be an issue. Before I addressed that he did say he could get me a ride back home, which surprised me knowing it's about a 25 minute ride one way, but again nice personal touch. While I was waiting for my truck in the waiting room I had the opportunity to see a number of customers come in, some with appointments, some without. I saw them accommodate one person, who while having an appointment only had a 1/2 and two people who came in with check engine lights on that they saw almost immediately. I'm not sure if this was a slow day for them but not once did they turn anyone away or have an attitude. They were completely understanding and helpful. I rarely offer any feedback but after this experience today I felt I had to. It's like one of those things that even though you are a customer paying for a service when that service goes above and beyond they really should be complimented and recognized. I'll be back next week for some additional work but I'll be going back with the feeling that you can trust these people and they are more than willing to work with you. read more
