After following the facebook page of T&J Waffels for a while and a few unsuccessful attempts of visits, I was able to catch the truck at the Clarksville location on Saturday. Unfortunately, I had a very bad customer service experience. After placing my order, I was given a pager (buzzer) for my order.. After waiting for around 10-15 minutes, my pager beeped so I walked to the cashier who was inside the truck and I handed over my pager. The lady who took my pager asked me whether I need a bag for my order and I politely responded 'yes'. After that she totally ignored me and started serving other customers waiting in a line to place their order. I kept waiting in anticipation that she would soon hand over my order since I returned my pager ( and my order was ready). To my surprise she continue handing over Waffles to other customers who came after me. So after another 10 minutes passed I walked down to her again and she gave me surprise look and started asking me what's my order number etc. Finally after much deliberation inside the truck she gave me my food. When I was about to leave the place, the cashier girl came out of truck and started asking me whether I really picked up my order earlier and taking the second order.. After that I lost my cool but she kept asking me same questions (accusing me of stealing someone else order).. When my tone got little louder someone else from inside came and started checking my food and asking me question like what I ordered.. Fortunately I ordered Vegie Waffel ( highly unlikely someone else would have ordered it), they gave me my food.. Then cashier girl apologized to me and started telling me that she just wanted to make sure that I got the right order..the fact was she had accused me of lying earlier repeatedly by asking those questions .. I hope they don't racially profile their customers because I was an odd man out in that line .. I have never experienced this before but for some reason I can't stop thinking about this and that compelled me to share my experience! I hope I was not being targeted unconsciously with some preconceived notion .... Hope not! Good luck.. read more

I've had this bookmarked for a while and when we were going to be around the area it was a good excuse to give it a try. I had an egg and cheese waffle and the spouse got the banana nutella. I didn't know what egg on a waffle would taste like, but it was delicious! The best egg I've ever had, and the waffles are great too! For $5 a piece it was a very satisfying breakfast. Had the the mix berries waffle (strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries) and man it was really good! Not only is the food really good, but the gentlemen that run it are friendly and welcoming. Gosh, it's like this operation dropped down from heaven to grace Maryland and the DC area. Honestly, I am not obsessed with waffles - in fact, I'm on a diet and need to avoid carbs like the plague - but my service guy at my car dealership kept raving about Thierry and T&J, and being a foodie I had to try them. Man, was I not disapppointed! And I'm a bit like Mikey in the old Life Cereal commercial - I don't give a thumbs up to many food operations in town. But EVERYTHING at T&J was not just delicious... it was gourmet. I'm serious. The owner, Thierry, is French, and like great French cooks brings a caring, sophisticated chef's eye to sourcing quality - an elegant mix of - ingredients. His waffles aren't greasy or heavy; they're light like clouds and aeromatic like fragrant beignets or great baguettes in France. The toppings are all made to order and lovingly prepped or sauteed in advance, I felt, with SUCH FLAVOR.... and the variety of the menu. Man. Fan me with a brick - is was a hit parade of dazzling selections. A whole range of dessert oriented items - and everything is like an open faced sandwich, with a waffle on each side and topping on top of each waffle (you can eat each individually, or combine them together and eat like a sandwich). Thierry's brisket is particularly mouth watering - and I've lived in Texas, so for you Texans, this man knows how to do brisket, which is rare in DC (Thierry said he in fact has lived in Texas in the past - and it shows!). Brisket succulent and fresh! Unlike other trucks, was not re-heated or microwaved (I hate that when trucks do that). The chicken items I tried - I loved the Chicken Ranch with bacon and greens - it was like dying and going to heaven. And I splurged on a dessert Liege waffle with bananas and blueberries - and the fruit was fresh, as if right from the farmer's market. Everything showed an attention to detail and a sourcing of fresh, quality ingredients. The underlying story about the operation is that it was Thierry's son's idea; he's going to college and suggested to his dad, Thierry told me, that they create the truck as a way to pay for Thomas' college tuition (so that's where the profits go). Thomas was on hand with his father taking orders, and there was something quite touching about the close, respectful relationship between father and son which is the genesis of the operation; plus, it was nice knowing my gastronomical pleasures were going to pay for the college education of Thierry's fine son. They represent what's the best about America and France I think. Thierry taught his son French, so if you speak the language, you can also practice - they are both happy to engage with customers in either language. So.. even if you're in DC, get in your car AND GO to Maryland as if you're on a mission and find them. You'll be thinking about the scrumptuous flavors in your mouth and your happy tummy all the way home. I discovered these waffles at the Maple Lawn Farmers' Market last year and I've been to the truck at Kendall's several times since then. I brought these waffles to my brother the morning after his 21st birthday (they pair pretty well with mimosas!). I most recently came by with my boyfriend in the cold to warm our bones with deliciousness. We split a strawberry creme brulee and a turkey sausage/egg/cheese. Delicious Waffles!!! I think this is now called T and J Waffles. We kept hearing about this truck and how good the waffles were - we finally made it there for the first time last Saturday and can see why everyone is always raving about it. We were already back again this Saturday to try out other menu items. A couple behind us in line who were regulars helped us navigate the 2 types of waffles and their menu. The Leige are denser and sweeter waffles with all sorts of special toppings offered each week such as strawberries, bananas, & speculoos or peaches and cream, or regular favorites such as banana and nutella. The French waffles were more like Belgian waffles and slightly smaller, but just as tasty. The savory egg and bacon waffles sounded like a strange combination, but worked together and was very good. There was also more unusual choices like chicken salad waffles. There is usually a line at the Kendall's location; we have driven by several times on the way to other places and have never seen it empty, but it moves along fairly quickly and if the weather's nice outside it's not too bad. There is no seating, but we saw people with fold out chairs on the small grassy area nearby, or others who just stood around and ate and chatted with people in the parking lot. Love this food truck. Not every dish is my favorite but after trying several things there are a few dishes that I would drive around for! The chicken salad and the cheesesteak with peppers are two of them. They actually give you some peppers, and not just green ones. So I just came back from getting a tuna melt waffle. Its nuts. I dont think T&J knows how to make something mediocre. Everything about the tuna melt is as good as it gets. Right amount of mayo, great crisp from the celery, salted to perfection, with the perfect complimentary cheese melted on top. Its even cooked in a way that the tuna stays together since its cupped in the melted cheese. This is my new go to item. Its also so worth the price since I think it can serve two people. I just had the peach waffles with peaches fresh from the stand.OMG, that waffle was so friggin' good. Crispy, light, airy...yeah it was a little sweet but for savory fans there are chicken salad waffles and breakfast sandwich waffles too. Too bad they aren't available more frequently. I wanted to get another waffle plain so I could really just taste the waffle itself. Besides, the portions seemed a little small to me. We are coming back for sure!! The banana strawberry speculoos waffle was fantastic. Sweet but the fruit balanced it out. My husband had the BLT waffle and having bites of his along with mine made the perfect sweet and savory combo. Absolutely deserves all 5 stars! The breakfast sandwich ($5) was 2 French waffles served with heaping piles of scrambled eggs bacon and cheese. Served open face. Also had a special leige waffle with fresh strawberries bananas and speculoos creme. So good and fresh! This place is delicious and a great value. I love the liege waffles, and have had every kind except blueberry. There's also basic coffee, bottled juices, etc. They set up at Kendall Hardware on MD 108 in Clarksville, MD every Saturday from about 8am-2pm. I recommend checking @tandjwaffles on twitter (you don't need an account--just google it) to make sure they're not out of town for an outdoor festival food court or something. Sometimes they're actually open on Sundays instead of Saturdays when they do those. They do take credit cards. read more

Found this on yelp and boy was I glad I went! You cannot beat this type of food at such prices! Both my girls had the strawberry, banana & chocolate waffle. It was excellent, but the sauce made it a little soggy- nxt time i'll have to get it on the side or something. My Canadian bacon, egg & cheese waffle sandwich was a grand slam for the whole family. This was my first food truck experience, and I am extremely impressed. My sister and I grabbed breakfest from here after we just happen to pass by it. I got the Apple Cinnamon Waffle, and my sister got the Pulled pork. The waffle was insanely delicious, despite being covered in (delicious) baked apples and sauce, it remained slightly crunchy but warm and cake like inside. It was definitely the best waffle I have ever eaten. My sisters food was a heavenly smelling bbq pulled pork sandwhich, with the bread consisting of two waffles. She was in love with it. After spotting the truck at the National business park i checked Yelp and decided to give it try. This was my very first food truck experience (ive always been skeptical of them) and man was it great!! I got the chicken, bacon and ranch sandwich and that first bite was magical!! The best part was the cheese cup, it nestled the chicken and bacon perfectly. My only complaint was how fast the waffle turned to mush. Even still it was the best sandwich I ever had. Im still not a believer in food trucks but I'll follow this one anywhere. The sign on the truck says addiction may occur and its the truth! After writing this i have to find that truck and then proceed to the nearest gym! read more
