Despite the other reviews, I have somewhat of a different take. The staff is super friendly and the café is quaint, but clean. The food is served both quickly and hot. In a pinch, this place definitely comes in handy. The issue is, if you're expecting food that is seasoned, it isn't this place. You definitely have to "help" in that area. Many people don't add salt to their food after it is served. While that is a relatively healthy habit, it won't help your taste buds. In this trip, I ordered a sausage, egg & cheese sandwich with an order of home fries. One literally has to disassemble the food and add salt. I was craving a cheesesteak and used Yelp to find a sandwich shop nearby. I didn't even read the reviews but chose this spot because it was close and actually right next door to a sushi restaurant I frequent. When I walked in, the place appeared clean and it smelled good. I was greeted and placed my order. While waiting for my food I noticed the "Daily Special" & also studied the menu. They are reasonably priced and offer a vast selection of menu items for breakfast & lunch... all kinds of breakfast sandwiches & platters, Ramen noodle soup, and of course what I specifically visited them for, sub sandwiches! My food came and I opted to dine in. It was delicious, seasoned well, and the fries were hot and crunchy on the outside yet soft in the middle like I prefer. I tried to eat the whole thing but couldn't so I requested a bag and was charged 5 cents. Honestly, that's the only problem I have with this spot. It's odd to me to charge a customer who purchased food from your establishment, for a take-home bag for leftovers. I know inflation is going on but I don't think that was the best way to save money or cut costs. Stumbled upon this spot recently and tried a few breakfast sandwiches. The regular sausage egg and cheese was our favorite (they stack two sausage patties on the sandwich), but the spicy Italian sausage egg and cheese was delicious too. The coffee was your typical diner coffee. I didn't realize it was Korean-owned, so I definitely want to come back to try the bulgogi. This is one of those places I wish I had discovered sooner. I usually have Chinese takeout for dinner from Great Wall (also located at this strip mall), and every time I walked by the Elkridge Deli Cafe, I saw it was closed. So I wondered if they were in business or not. Then subsequently, I saw the business hours of 6 AM-3 PM. After checking out the reviews and what they had to offer, I decided to pay a visit. The restaurant is small, with only a few tables plus some seats at the counter. But it has a nice quaint atmosphere, a very pleasant mom and pop flavor to it. The women that work there are very friendly, greeting you as you come through the door. It was busy on my first visit from last summer; a full lunch time crowd, but I was able to get a seat at the counter. From just the initial visit, I could tell they have a thriving business with a lot of regulars that both ate in or had pick up. It seemed like the patrons and owners know each other on a first name basis. I tried their Korean BBQ Bul-Go-Gi sub with fries on my first visit (didn't want to have the same old, same old cold/hot subs -- I can go to Subway for that), and it hit the spot. Hot and moist meat; spicy but not too spicy; I didn't have to wash it down with a drink to cool off my mouth with every bite. Although as in the case with having hot subs, the rolls got a little soft and soggy after a while, so I used a fork and knife to finish the rest. I had their western omelette breakfast platter (with toast and hash browns) on a more recent visit, and that too was delicious -- nice and piping hot, with the cheese, meats and veggies oozing out. Not sure if it's made there or what have you, but it was certainly tasty. Second item, for the more discriminating persons, they use Hunts ketchup, and use red onions. I say this as I tried their basic burger. Tasty burger, but the red onions, for me anyway, was somewhat underwhelming. It came on a typical kaiser roll, with the usual trimmings... all fresh. A good side of crinkle cut fries, you know the ones, but they cooked em until they were crispy... I love crispy fries! So that was a plus. Overall, this is a place to go if you are short on time, money and not too worried about big tastes. It's a deli/diner kind of thing... so go there with that in mind. The food is ok, the place is clean, and they prepare everything in front of you. Ignore the fact that most everything is pre-packed, pre-made and what have you. I observed the cook leaving out of the deli and returning to cook WITHOUT washing his hands or using gloves when he returned. He touched the door handles just like everyone else and it's just not sanitary to not at least wash your hands before cooking your customers' food again. He also stopped to eat but again returned to cooking with unwashed hands. I won't be returning. I was in the area getting an oil change and decided to go here while I was waiting for my car. I got a chicken salad sandwich and onion rings. The chicken salad was ok, it was a little to "wet" for me but still good. The onion rings were great. It seemed to be a regular spot for customers. Most people were drinking coffee and talking. The customer service and friendliness of staff was exceptional. She showed me the Korean barbecue special that someone else ordered and told me that I had to come back and try it. It did look good. The only thing I didn't like was the person preparing the food was not wearing gloves, by the time I noticed my food was being placed in the to go box. I would never eat here, the lady at the counter is very rude so what happened was apparently they store food in the same fridge that customers grab drinks from and I seen an employee grab lettuce out of the drink fridge with gloves on touching the door and lettuce and I kindly told the lady at the counter to tell the female to change her gloves because it's not sanitary. You have customers going in and out of that fridge and you touch the lettuce with the same gloves you touched the door with??? That doesn't make sense to me. Looked up a place to grab some quick breakfast on the go. Came across this place. When walking in the owners (I am assuming) were very welcoming. She helped me with ordering and was so very nice. She took my order and it cane out fresh and hot. I ordered fresh toast with bacon with potatoes. The French toast was very yummy and fresh, didn't get much potatoes as a side but it was fine. Delicious deli with phenomenal service. I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese bagel sandwich and it was one of the best I've had, loved the generous bacon serving. The coffee was great, especially the refills when I needed a bit more. Can't say enough about the service, you fill like family when you walk in and are treated as such. We stayed for a good bit sipping on coffee until our flight - BWI is only 8 min from here, no better place to kill time and grab a bite. Will be returning next time I'm in Balitmore. read more

I know, I know... 5 stars for a deli?? Yes, 5 stars. Why? Because this place exceeded my expectations! I had a little extra time one morning last week and I decided to grab a bite to eat. I didn't want any fast food, so I remembered I bookmarked this greasy spoon across the street from my former residence, so I gave it a try! As I entered the establishment, I noticed about 5 big burly bearded men seated around a table; none of which had an empty plate or signs of a finished meal. So I was prepared for a long wait. A friendly woman greeted me from behind the register and promptly took my order for my breakfast of champions- a scrapple, egg, & cheese on rye (scrapple fried hard). The spot is decent and clean, no crumbs on the counter or seats. Funny thing I noticed as I waited, the next two patrons ordered the same breakfast sandwich as I did . I'm guessing scrapple is the new thing. Less than 10 minutes later, I was in my car and on my way! I remember coming to this place and staring at its unpleasant views; 3 stripe rainbow colors streaking across the top of the wall, very old and moldy walls, pictures were all over the place and it wasn't so pleasing to the eyes... Until I went a few days ago and found that this place went through a complete 180 degree change. Okay, the chairs and benches are still the same haha but from the painted walls to the reorganization of the pictures, it actually looks like the place is somewhat "newer", cleaner and overall just a more pleasing view to the eyes. This place was originally owned by a couple and the man (which is Korean) spoke perfect English, though with a Western accent. However, now, this place is owned by a new Korean couple and their daughter. Her name is Eva and she's a very charismatic and outgoing woman. She's cute too! :P Seriously, when you order, you're gonna have to wait a while because they make the food AFTER you order. They don't have food laying around, waiting to be consumed; not even fries are pre-done. Oh? What's that you say? You don't know what to get? What dishes are good there? Let me school you and teach you what to get when ordering at a deli with a limited menu: get their specials. That's it LOL. The specials they have range from their meatloaf smothered in gravy on top of either fries or rice, (They don't always carry rice so ask in advance so that they could make it for you. It takes about half an hour to make rice.) their chicken sandwich, the burger and other dishes. They also have a dish that comes with 2 burger patties covered in gravy on top of rice. You can also ask them to put an egg or 2 over easy on top of the dish to imitate that Hawaiian dish called "Loco Moco". Not exactly the same, but pretty close! They also have some amazing Blueberry Pancakes that soaks up the syrup and melts in your mouth. When I go to IHOP or other places that serve Blueberry Pancakes, they always skimp out on the Blueberries. However, this place packs em in! Homemade, mostly made from scratch, made to order comfort food is the way to go. It never dissatisfies me and every time I go there, I have a marvelous time. The only gripes I have with this place is that it's small and their parking can be a BBBBB!! It can be pretty bad lol. They do have bathrooms though. They open at 7am then close at 3pm on the weekdays. On Saturdays, they open from 7am to 1pm and they're closed on Sundays. They stop serving breakfast at 11am, however, if you call in advance and ask them nicely, they may make breakfast foods for you past 11! :O Just in case you're too lazy to scroll up and find their number: 410-796-1095. There ya go, you're welcome. :P Though different owners, the food has gotten noticeably better. You'll start to notice the veggies they use are considerably fresher than their predecessors. The Elkridge Deli Cafe is an unassuming little place in a tiny strip mall on US 1 in Eldridge. I never would have noticed it if I hadn't looked on Yelp for a breakfast place, even though I've driven right by it hundreds of times. It does not help that it can be tricky to enter the parking lot from the north or exit from it to go south, but the morning traffic was mercifully light for me. It is set up like a small diner, with a few booths and tables and even counter stools. There is not much in the way of signage, but they do have menus at the counter and a sandwich board showing the day's specials. They offer a lot of standard diner options, as well as a few Korean standards, like Bahn Mi and Bi Bim Bap. I only wanted a breakfast sandwich, and I admit I was impressed watching the chef's methodical methods as he cooked it. I appreciate good bacon on my sandwich and they had good cuts cooked flat. The space is fairly cluttered in some areas, and while there is a random assortment of pictures on the walls they are tastefully arranged. As I said, this is an unassuming place, but if you go in assuming you'll get food I think you'll enjoy it. read more
