Beef lo mein (half eaten)
Penny H.

It hurts me to write this review, but our last order was so bad for my husband. He ordered the jalapeño chicken, which was such bad quality that he threw it in the trash. We've had other chicken dishes from here and they were fine. I hope that it was a one off because it was New Year's Day and not a change in meat quality.

What have I been missing?! I eat next door all the time. A friend recommended and I'm so glad we finally came in. We had steamed pot stickers, lo mein, orange chicken, beef broccoli and fried rice.

I've ordered several meals from here in the past few weeks and everything we've ordered has been delicious. They did forget to include our fried rice once but I just called them and they made a note for me to get it on my next order. Ordering online is convenient and simple and the food comes nicely packed for pickup. We really enjoy the Lo Mein, Sesame Chicken and Sesame Shrimp.

What a little gem! Restaurant appeared to be clean with ample seating. The staff was so attentive and friendly! We went for lunch and the portions were more than plenty for the price! All the food had so much flavor! My teenage kiddo even said, "this fried rice is bomb!" So you know it was good! The steamed dumplings were so soft and not overly doughy and pair wonderful with their chili oil! We will definitely be back soon!

Shrimp Pepper & Salt

This place was such a solid Chinese place. Really liked the salt and pepper shrimp. Highly recommend this. The egg drop soup was decent -- good flavor but nothing spectacular. I thought the beef was okay. Service was nice and ambiance is what you'd expect from a normal Chinese restaurant. Overall would come back again but specifically for the salt and pepper shrimp.

Shrimp Pepper & Salt, great flavor!

We order delivery from them often. Always great, quick, and accurate. The Thai chicken and shrimp is awesome. I aways add crispy noodles :-)

Plenty of vegan options with tofu both soft and fried, fresh veggies galore, and all the brown sauce you can handle. My personal favorites are the mapo tofu and mushroom tofu, but the dry sauteed green beans definitely deserve and honorable mention. Great portions all around; order two dishes and you'll have a whole feast. Lunch deals are a great value but even dinner pricing is very reasonable, too. It's an ideal spot for a low-key meal since it's usually not too busy, not loud, not flashy, and not the type of place that attracts annoying wannabe influencers.

I'm a big fan of the spicy beef noodles. Love the bouncy chewy noodles with the fresh bok choy. You can see the photos I took the soft, long cooked braised beef cuts. I am very surprised the beef is very tender extremely tender and love the the big cuts of gelatinous goodness. Tendons for capital T for tender. The broth has a strong beef flavor and overall great dish. The pad Thai on the other hand, it's a good attempt at Pad Thai but in my opinion is too sugary. Love the noodles with the peanuts on top. You have the soft noodles with the crunchy peanuts. It adds a nice contrast of crunchy and soft at the same time. You can see the sliced carrots and the beef. I also added chicken. It's a good dish, but it's in my opinion missing more bean sprouts and it needed more tamarin sauce. More fish sauce, and it would've been nice to add stirfry basil so you could taste the basil leaves when you stirfry it. It's also missing eggs. Maybe I didn't see any of it. I didn't taste any eggs or it was just covered in sauce, but who knows it was still good. I ate the whole thing.

We got here around 2:43pm on a Friday and ordered Roasted pork but sold out. We were at discount…read moretires next door and figure we go her for a quick bite. The establishment outside is run down but we were surprise to see the inside booths/tables were nicer than the outside. There are live tanks of seafood when you walk in. You need to wait to be seated. Service was good and food came pretty fast. We ordered the general tso chicken lunch special which comes with hot and sour soup. Lunch special is from 11am-3pm Monday-Friday. The general tso chicken is salty and was not well balance. The chicken was dry. It was lightly battered and fried. The sauce was one note. The stir fried flat noodles N12 combination was under seasoned and needed more soy sauce. The squid was not seasoned at all. The shrimp was imported shrimp and was not good. There were still poop lines in the shrimp. You didn't get any smokiness from the soy sauce at all. Do I recommend this place? This place was a staple in atx but with my Overall experience with the food quality I cannot recommend this place. We have had the roasted pork before and it was ok. Not the best we ever had but meh. Where we were seated we can hear the cooks yelling at each other in the kitchen. There are other restaurants in Austin that are way better.

Needing a fresh start to Chinese New Year we turned to Ho Ho to lift our spirits. Located right off…read moreof I-35, Ho Ho is tucked away into a shopping center but should really be more accessible because this place makes some good Cantonese style Chinese food. We ordered for pickup and they had the food ready fast and pickup itself was a breeze. The price felt very fair for the amount of food that we got, which is nice to see as many Chinese places now seem to be getting much pricier. After a short drive back we were very excited to dig in. Here's what we got for our New Year feast: Steamed pork dumplings - some big dumplings, packed with filling and not too bad on flavor Salt and pepper pork chop - very good. Salty flavor and good spice from the peppers Singaporean noodles w/ chicken - phenomenal, deep flavor and texture. Best dish out of all Beef chow fun - wet style chow fun is very good, beef was perfectly tender and flavorful Plain lo mein - simple but tasty, executed perfectly with good noodle texture Ho Ho excels at Cantonese style food, maybe better than any other place in Austin. This trip knocked us out of the park and we can't wait for our next excuse to come here. They do offer dine in as well and have a pretty large inside area so maybe we'll sit down formally next time. Either way, convenient, good value and good food as well makes this a standout choice for Chinese food in the North Austin area.
