She helped me ( a technophobe) so patiently to navigate my phone and showed me how to keep all the software and system updates current. Showed me twice without asking, just to make sure I got it! So after 9 years of changing accounts I decided to go back to T-Mobile and I ordered online came to pick up my phones in the store and got help from Val who was great in getting me set up and I appreciate his time being that I came in 20 minutes till closing and he's still set me up then slightly over two weeks I had an issue with my phone and got help from Ellasandra and Lauren. During my visit there is a customer who was very unhappy and became very belligerent in her behavior and Lauren stepped up to protect her employee which I respect how well she handled that. She's a great supervisor and also handled my needs. I did need to swap out phones and came back the very next morning got everything done that I needed. They synced everything so it was all good to go by the time I showed up with the final help from Robert so I want to give all the employees there kudos for doing such a great job they definitely deserve 10 Stars! read more

I had 3 GREAT experiences today!! I switched from a LONG time AT&T contract, to getting a brand new 6s for trading in my old phone! Tahlia was the second person I dealt with.  I am trying to remember the first gal's name but I am drawing a blank! She was super great too tho!!! anyways..... They not only got me a great new phone, they helped me switch over my tablet as well!! And I got some new beats headphones for 50% off!! What a deal!!! The service was outside in the heat. That's not why I'm giving it a one star.The customer service was the worst. I approached the young lady and told her that my phone wasn't working. I ask her about the Note 10 5g. She looks on her tablet and tells me there is none there.I said Ok she then says we can order one for you. I say no I need a phone today she then goes to the back and returns saying there are none in San Diego and she can order me one. I said to her OK I just need a phone today she cuts me off with an attitude and says I don't know what to do other than order you a phone... We drove to this T-Mobile since we didn't get helped at the other one and this store was on top of its game! They greeted us right when we walked in even though there were already a few people there waiting and the employees were already helping customers. The manager even asked me if it was okay to just take a couple payments from customers who came in after is, which of course we were happy to let them get taken care of, but the fact that he asked us was very nice! They took care of everyone without rushing or making you feel unimportant! I was so impressed with this store that me and my husband both agreed it was the best experience we have ever had at a T-Mobile!! I could not agree more with Erika T.'s review. This store is terrible. Long story short- an employee lied to me about a rebate deal so I went in to speak with the store manager- two different people claimed to be able to help, and the "retail manager" kristian" or something close to that was very unhelpful and unapologetic. While it was her employee that made a mistake, she never even apologized to me, when I brought this to her attention she flat out lied and said, "Yes I did, I've apologized several times" as if lying to a customer will put them in a better mood. BOTTOM LINE- the phone customer service totally helped me. offered me a solution that the unfriendly, unhelpful "manager" at this store should have seen and mentioned. When I go in to the stores I usually do my research and know what to expect. Came in to the store to get a new micro sim card (and I was told it's free). They told me I can get it for free but need to activate it for 20$ or they can cut my old simcard, but they didn't have the "cutter". Seemed like a rip-off. Went to a different store in Clairemont square - got a brand new micro sim for free without any trouble. So yeah yelp, meh! I HAVE experienced better. read more

This has got to be the WORST T-Mobile store I have ever visited. The manager should really send ALL of his/her employees through customer service training, as it is VERY lacking. They are rude & too busy interacting with their co-workers rather than actually helping the LONG line of customers. Since when have you had to provide a current form of ID when paying? This is the ONLY T-Mobile store that requires it. You'd think they'd be happy to take your money. Came in 9/5/19 around 6:30 p.m.. Ally F. quickly assessed the issue with my phone. She did her best to revive it, so I could transfer my stuff. But the phone didn't cooperate. She was partially successful. I needed a new cell. Ally F. was receptive to the replacement I was interested in. She didn't push any phone over the other or service I didn't need. I went to this T-Mobile location because it was closest to my home and I needed a replacement SIM card. The guy who helped us out wasn't professional one bit. I was with my mom at the time because I wasn't yet added as an authorized user to the account and they needed her to be there in order for me to get my SIM card. She was in a rush because she needed to go somewhere, and the guy who helped us seemed to be taking his sweet time chatting it up with his coworkers in the back door. The guy was pretty cool to talk to - we talked about trance and dubstep and a rave that he had went to in Texas - and he had me out of there in no time as soon as he "activated" my SIM card. When I got home, about an hour and a half later, my SIM card was not working. I was unable to make calls and I was not connected to the 4G network. I thought that was kind of weird because usually when I get my SIM activated at Costco, within 20-30 minutes my phone will already be up and running. I then called a T-Mobile representative and read her my SIM card number and she checked the SIM for me and said that it seems to have been activated and that it should be working within two hours. .... 5-6 Hours later, I'm still unable to make/receive calls and use my data so I ended up chatting with a T-Mobile representative online who had told me that my SIM card has NOT been activated. So, he went ahead and activated my SIM card immediately. After talking to him online for about 10-15 minutes or so, my phone now works and I'm able to make calls. To the guy and girl who helped me out the first and second time, if you could not activate my SIM card correctly, maybe you shouldn't even be working with T-Mobile.... Just sayin'. read more

What a joke. I've been with T-mobile for 16 years and have 6 lines with my business. I'm in the warranty program and I had a weird white line down my screen. I came in Saturday to exchange my phone. They inspected the phone, put in the order, and told me to come back in for the transfer. Two days later I went in for the transfer and they did a final inspection and somehow missed the tiniest most minuscule chip on the corner of the phone. They informed me I need to take it in the Apple first, pay to get it fixed, and then start the process over again. What's the point of a warranty program if I can't use it ‍ also who has time for that. They screwed up and missed the issue not me. It was about time to update my iPhone XR that I had for 3-4 years so I went in to see what could be done. Since Sprint (my original carrier) was bought out by T-Mobile, I had a lot of deals to choose from. I knew that I wanted to upgrade to the iPhone 13 Pro and Eric helped me do just that. Asking for a simple question about getting a special number and the girl was rudely like I told you twice that I can't get you a special number ! This review is about T-Mobile policies and not any employees who in general were very helpful and understanding. I bought a Samsung J3 for over $200 on 10/9/18. A cheap phone for an apartment manager. I left the store and discovered the phone would not make or receive calls. The following is the sequence: 1. Purchased Samsung J3 which would not make calls when I returned home. 2. Called TM technician service and spoke with a rep for 10-15 minutes who could not fix problem 3. Technician transferred the call to an "expert" who determined after 15 minutes that the phone was defective and needed to be replaced. 4. Rather than returning to TM store, I went to Costco which was closer and sold TM phones. The sales person sold me the same phone and had me working in 10 minutes. 5. I tried to return the first TM store phone two days later and was charged $50 for restocking a faulty phone. The reason given was that I should have returned the faulty phone to avoid a restocking charge. Here's the problem: 1. I was not told a faulty new phone had to be returned to a specific store FIRST. 2. I spent 30-40 minutes conservatively trying to get TM to fix the first phone . They could not. I was told bu reps to return the phone for another phone at TM. But I also understood I had the right to return a faulty phone for a refund., 3. So I paid the $50 restocking fee and understand TM plays rules that only they know of. The enforcement of a sales agreement is interpreted bt TM according to unstated clauses ($50?, $25?), Lesson learned: Do Not Trust T-Mobile. Ask every question about returns and fees. Record conversations if possible. I have 9 phone lines and 2 tablets with TM and got sucked in believing the cheerleading. read more

In San Diego I recommend you avoid t-mobile they have crappiest coverage. If you feel you must, use a crappy phone service avoid this location. Was told by a store employee that I could have a similar plan for $20 cheaper. I asked and was told that I could change back, no problem. My first invoice arrived, only $16 cheaper. Returned quickly to the store, as only a cranky old guy can do, requested my old plan. No can do, you waited too long. Between personal and professional phones, Lisa and I have ATT, Verizon, Sprint and T-mobile phones. So we have practical experience to know, T-mobile has the worst coverage in SD. It is even worse than the phone indicates. I love the way, the phone shows 3 bars of strength until I push send when I get the no network available message. If you must use this company I feel for you. Mike Epilogue, I'm a happy camper with my Walmart replacement. Other than iphones the phone choices are not as good and Walmart employees are, if anything, more clueless than the staff on Balboa. However I have much better coverage than T-mobile and unlimited everything for $20 cheaper than Tmobile. read more

Went in a few days before Christmas to get the new Samsung Note 10 5G for my boyfriend. We were debating between going to the T-Mobile inside of Costco or the one at the Balboa location and I am glad we decided with the Balboa location. We were helped by Maleni who made the entire experience enjoyable and easy. Jose is the man. I was able to switch from Verizon to T-Mobile in less than 30 minutes and keep my iPhone 5s. There was no money required during this transaction other than 16 dollar port fee plus SIM card. He gave me his business card. I have since used it him to give him a quick ring about the temporary number and he picked right up. That was awesome!! My phone service works great at the beach now that I made the switch from VZW. Now I just need to save up or get in a payment plan for the new HTC M9 and I finally ditch the low battery issues w iPhone. Perhaps, this was a unique experience as I went in at 3p on a Tuesday but hey, beat the rush and you will be satisfied. read more

I wanted to say that I have been a T-Mobile customer for about 7 years. I have been at this location for that entire time. I like this store and all the great people who work there. The customer service is off the chain. I have had several accidents with my phones and they always work with me and patiently explain all the curious details with each feature. I have been in there when they are busy and they always acknowledge me and let me know about how long it will be until they can help me. I even go there to pay my bill in person and they are always super helpful and polite. They go out of there way to explain my bill and all the charges. I have been a T-Mobile subscriber for 11 years. The Clairemont branch has treated me well recently, in particular an employee named Matt. I was having screen/charging problems with my old phone and I called 611 and they suggested I go to a third-party retailer which would be cheaper than buying a phone through them (my upgrade wasn't ready and the new upgrade thing they offer takes 3 months). I tried Craigslist, but the nice phones were still a rip-off and possibly stolen or locked. Then I went to Target and found the nicest of the crappy phones (none of the newest/good models, IMO) for about $299. Thankfully I left my debit card in my other purse and had go to the bank next to the Clairemont store to get cash. I popped in there and Matt immediately analyzed my account and found that I really was eligible for a phone, he re-worked my plan, which saved a lot of $ since I wasn't using the major plan I paid for. I still pay low payments, but my bill is even a little less than it used to be. THEN, the new phone (which I love) had a little glitch with the screen (not common, but a manufacturer issue) and I called 611 and they told me I had to buy a new one, or use insurance (meaning pay $$ for a refurbished phone). I went back to the Clairemont/Balboa store and Matt was working again, he determined it was under warranty or whatever (since I had VERY recently purchased it) and exchanged immediately with no problems or drama or paying for a refurb phone. I do suggest you call and ask when Matt is working and request him, because I'm not quite sure about the guys who work on his days off, one was kind of short/aloof/annoyed-sounding over the phone, maybe he's the dude the other Yelpers are talking about. This place is awful. OMG. I've never been so livid leaving a store. I only came in to pay my bill and the only rep that was working was getting into some argument with another customer. When the rep was done, all I asked was to pay the bill and he literally scoffed and rolled his eyes at me. WTF. I had also asked questions regarding my phone and he made no effort to give me good answers. Kept telling me to go online. This is the closest T-Mobile to my house but I'd drive an extra few miles to get the service I deserve. Since this place gave me horrible customer service, I went and opened a plan for my entire family at another T-mobile store on Linda Vista Road. They were really nice. I would have given NO star if there would b such option!!! when i got my new phone from them, the guy who helped me gave me such an attitude like i pissed him off or sth, w rude questions, even tho i came in and bought in a very quick time and gave me a very easy sale ever. When my phone got problem w the loosing home button, he said it had no effect on how the phone works and gave me such a mean attitude that i couldnt argue a word for an exchange (although i called customer care before coming back to that store for an exchange and got approved over the phone) I have been working for a tmobile authorized store (not exclusive) and i know all problems w the iphone, the loosing home button might b working now but soon will stop working. This is a high pressured sales pitch to sell you one of the off brands (other than apple) that they make a higher profit on. They try to talk you out of what you want. We immediately returned a knockoff phone after my girlfriend got suckered into buying one, they charged a $35 restocking fee! While we were in the store we watched as groups of other customers got talked out of iphones and into inferior brands. This is a commission based fraud. read more
