Went in and asked for a USB Monterey OS install because version was locking up the computer at the desktop. Told Mitch that I have no back up for this MacBook Air 2017 and the data is very important. I told him not to risk the data by doing a complete data wipe. What happens is he does a total drive wipe and then tells me when loading an OS you risk wiping the disk. He is full of shit and I lost all my data. He then charged me $99 to get my computer back. I have worked in IT for 20 yrs and shame on me for not backing up my data before letting these idiots work on my laptop. DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR DATA!! They are AMATEURS! read more

The prior "uBreakiFix" I went to on Midway drive, replaced my screen with an after market screen, in which broke within a week and then went black - while still charging me $320! I dropped my Samsung S23 Ultra and cracked the screen, first time in my over 20 years of owning cell phones. I contacted Verizon who got me in touch with Asurion and helped me set up an appointment to get my screen replaced. I was still at work, but call about an hour later from the store confirming my appointment and said it would about 1.5 to 2 hours once I brought my phone in. I arrived a little after 11am and was greeted right away by a lady and her trainee. The trainee took a bit to figure out how to check in my phone, which was not an issue. I was told to come back in 1.5 to 2 hours. I arrived back about an hour and forty-five minutes later. There was the trainee with another worker (man) helping someone else pick up their phone. So I stood waiting. Another person walked in after me and the man greeted the man and told him he would check on his phone, without ever even acknowledging me. I said "really" and he asked what i was there for. I told him my name and my phone. He told me another 20-30 minutes. So I said ok and left. I came back another 30 minutes later and the girl who helped me when I first arrived, told me they needed another 15 - 20 minutes, at this point I was getting pissed. I asked her if I should wait there or leave and she told me to take a seat. So I sat for another 10 minutes or so and then they brought my phone out. My screen was repaired nicely and they replaced the case as well, even though it was not damaged just to keep it looking new. Overall the 2.5 hours or so, is relatively quick, so I don't have an issue with that. My issue is that I was ignored the first time I came back and yet someone who came in after me was going to be helped. That is just rude. The screen does not seem the same quality as my original screen. I had the phone for almost 2 years and had dropped it before and never even scratched the screen. After 1 week, I have not dropped it or tossed it, I'm super careful now, and yet there are light scratches on the screen. I don't even have long nails that could have caused this. I'm bummed by the quality, but it's better than the cracks I caused on my original screen. read more

I wish I had read the reviews before I went in ..I had an iPad with a broken screen and wanted to get it repaired to gift it to my mom . The woman said yes we can fix it ..quoted 169 for just the top screen but told me if the screen under it was broken it would be 250 . I told her to call me and let me know because wasn't keen on the $250 . A few hours later she called and said it was an iPad Air and the screen for that was around $300 ..I said no I don't want to repair it . I had done some research and knew I could get a refurbished one for about that price. When I told her I didn't want to repair it that's when she told me about the $69 diagnostic charge . I was not told this before ..I said to her I wasn't told that beforehand and she stated well if you get it fixed we don't charge you . I said ok well I guess that's what I'll do . Then about a half hour later she called back to tell me the iPad wasn't working that by taking the screen off something went wrong and it doesn't work . So now I'm looking at paying them to pick up my broken iPad . I looked at the mile long drop off receipt to see if it said any of this ..and no it didn't. It actually said I dropped it off in working order . The next day I went in and another nice lady brought the iPad out to me and I told her that since it was working when I dropped it off at the very least I expected the same when I picked up . In light of that I thought it best we just call it even . I'll take my broken iPad but am not paying to do so . Lesson learned. read more

Please read before deciding whether you want to go here or not before you get ripped off like we just did. My husband and I came in because there was a problem with our kids XBox 1S. We weren't sure what the issue was, all we knew is that it would kick them out of every game they tried to play. Everything else was working perfectly. When we walked in, the lady behind the counter never looked up to acknowledge us. Finally after we waited for her to finish typing, she finally looked up. We told her what the issue was and she let us know that they would need to do a diagnostic to see what the issue was. So pretty much you pay 59.99 just for them to look at your device. I understand we are paying for their knowledge, however 59.99? Three days later a guy called us back to say that the device is supposedly fried and it needed to be replaced and cleaned inside as well. He told us it would cost an additional 250 to get it back to working condition. Everyone knows that you can pay for one in excellent condition on OfferUp for a 100-120. Why would I pay that much to have one fixed? Paying 60 just to find out what's wrong with it is a complete rip off in itself. Let alone these outrageous prices to fix something so simple. The cleaning fee alone is 75!!! Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere to fix your devices. I wish I would have done more research instead of handing them 60 for nothing. I came across this establishment since they are an authorized service center by Google for my Pixel 6 pro. I called 4 other cellphone repair centers and none of them have the parts to fix my broken/cracked screen. Went to Google to see what my options were and they recommend uBreakifixit - which is now under Asurion. I made an online appointment but you can also walk in. As chance would have it, they have original parts to fix my screen. The repair took a few hours. They did ask if I can unlock the phone and hang out for 10 min before and after the repair to perform testing. The alternative is to reset the phone to factory but I would need to re install all my apps, etc. So I opted to just spend extra time to unlock the phone. When I came by to pick up my phone, they did the final testing to ensure everything was installed correctly. It turns out the front camera had the plastic cover still attached and in order to remove it, they had to remove the screen again. It added another 20 min or so but overall not a big deal. The service was great and the people working here are very professional. They also sell other products such as the cell helmet liquid glass screen protector. I asked how good this product was and I received an honest answer - since he didn't have personal experience with it, he couldn't recommend it. But I appreciate the honesty. TLDR: professional and courteous staff, great communication, replaced Pixel 5a screen the same day. My Pixel 5a's screen suddenly went blank in the morning and found that it was a common problem. Google even extended an additional 1 year warranty just for this issue. I didn't want to ship the phone to Google so I took a gamble and made an appointment at this Asurion location. My expectation of a phone repair shop was a beat-up shop with shady staff, but this location blew away my expectation! It is a small but clean shop with very courteous staff, had the parts in stock, and was knowledgeable about the Pixel 5a screen warranty. I was able to drop off my phone at 11am and pick it up at 5pm the same day. They emailed me when my phone was ready (since I don't have a phone to take calls). I had a bad feeling about the place, but I was looking to get my computer desktop back on and the store was close by. I told the repair person that I only needed to get my desktop turned back on and needed only to save 1 or 2 files since I plan not to use the computer anymore. I also told him that if he could not bring my desktop back on, to not do anything else since I will not use the computer for anything else. Dishonest staff that does shoddy repair work. Take your broken devices elsewhere for repair. Recently, I cracked my phone screen and took it to this shop for repair. Once I came back to pick it up, the screen looked good and the phone initially seemed like it was good to go. At first, that is. However, soon after getting home I noticed other problems with the phone. The side power button was extremely sensitive, so much so that the lightest touch would trigger it. This would cause the phone to restart constantly and made it very difficult to use. Over the next couple days the problem got even worse. So, I brought it back into the shop to have them look at it. They told me the phone most likely was dropped or received some impact damage, and the side panel buttons needed replacing. Not only did they refuse to admit that this was their doing, they told me that I somehow damaged it and wanted to charge me $90 to replace the power button/side panel. Incredible. The woman I spoke to essentially implied I was lying about the whole thing and took on an extremely hostile and accusatory tone in the process. Very unprofessional. Instead of paying anyone here to repair my phone a second time, I took my phone to a different repair shop in North Park and had someone else repair the power button. The hilarious part is that, at the new repair shop, they commented that the screen wasn't properly seated/sealed to the phone and offered to redo that for me. The bottom right corner of the screen had a small but visible gap beneath it where it was coming off of the phone. So, not only did this shop do low quality, shoddy work, they also damaged my phone and then refused to take responsibility for it, blaming me instead. Wow. The staff here, or at least the ones involved in this debacle, are absolute clowns who are both incompetent AND dishonest. This place was horrible to work with. We brought in a perfectly working iPad and needed the screen replaced. They called back a couple days later saying they broke the Touch ID button but that they would replace it with a new Home Screen for free. Which is frustrating because it wouldn't have the Touch ID feature anymore. Fast forward 6 weeks. We have had no contact from them whatsoever with no updates. We walk into the store and they told us that conveniently the next day they had the shipment for the new home button and screen. A couple days after that we get a call saying the motherboard was destroyed in the process and we had to pick up our iPad with the screen in worse condition and now no longer working. The Mission Valley store is a new and although it is a uBreakiFix (Samsung Authorized Repair) location, the name is Asurion and run more professionally than other "uBreakiFix" San Diego locations that I have had experiences with. II have written one star reviews in the past for other uBreakiFix San Diego locations. Earlier this year I brought my Samsung Galaxy Flip 3 phone in to several San Diego uBreakiFix locations for a screen repair and at three of the four location the store was not only unable to assist, but had a lack of will, desire, effort, and professionalism in my request. I have to come to learn that they were unable to assist because Samsung had not provided them with the equipment, training and supplies but I am not taking back my reviews because the employees could not even put forth the effort to explain the situation. With that being said, more recently my Samsung Flip 3 had another issue. With low expectations, I reluctantly went to the new Asurion location in Mission Valley because it was in my neighborhood. At the Mission Valley location I was met with professionalism, and a will and desire to provide assistance with the repair. Unfortunately the repair took longer than anticipated, but the employees were very apologetic, and detailed and very transparent on what the issues were. During the repair, I spoke with four different employees who each apologized and the provided, consistent and a detailed explanation and update on the status of the repair. I have used Asurion Tech Repair twice now. The first repair was to replace the screen on my laptop (two months ago) which went well. My laptop recently had some water damage so I took it back to the same repair company. They replaced some parts on my laptop and got it working again. One hour after I picked up my laptop I noticed a deep scratch on the screen which was brand new two months ago. I contacted the store to inform them that the screen was damaged (which would have been covered by my insurance) and the manager basically told me that I must have scratched the screen within the hour after I picked up the laptop because if the screen was scratched they would have replaced it and billed the insurance. After using the computer I then realized that the battery is not holding a charge and needs to be replaced and my charger ports are not working properly either. They clearly did not properly inspect the device and they were not willing to take responsibility for their mess up and obvious negligence and I would not recommend or use this repair company in future. read more

I purchased a phone through AT&T. I chose to have it delivered by an Asurion "expert" to my office and would set up my phone for me. I received a confirmation email saying that my phone would be delivered on a Friday. My delivery window was 10 AM to noon. At 12:30 no one had called so I contacted Asurion. I was told that no one would be delivering my phone that day, and that it would need to be rescheduled. The customer service rep told me he would contact me on Monday to verify my new appointment date of Tuesday between 12 PM and 2 PM. He also said a supervisor would return my call. That Sunday a supervisor called and guarantee that my phone would be delivered as scheduled. On Monday, I received a phone call from the customer service rep guaranteeing that my phone would be delivered as scheduled as well. At 11:30 AM on Tuesday I received a text saying that someone named Dylan would be delivering my phone. I was off the day it was to be delivered but I went to my office and waited for someone to arrive. I waited 2 1/2 hours and no one showed, no one called. When I contacted customer service, they told me my phone was not going to be delivered again. I was so furious I hung up. I called back and asked when they would be able to deliver my phone and the person said he could not tell me because it needed to be returned to the AT&T warehouse before they could reschedule a delivery. That was to be the next day, Wednesday. So I had ordered a phone with it to not be delivered as promised twice. I have little faith that someone will call me tomorrow, as promised, to reschedule a delivery. They do not allow you to go to the warehouse and pick it up yourself. They are holding my phone hostage and I'm at the mercy of this ridiculous company. I was hoping for the convenience of someone setting it up and handing me my phone ready to go and this is the treatment that I get. Never use this company to deliver your phone if you need it in a timely manner. I will tell everyone I know never to use this company. I considered purchasing insurance through them, but I refuse to give them any of my money. Avoid this company if you can! read more

Took my device in for a screen repair. It came out with network problems not being able to connect. Replaced SIM card just in case at the art next door with the same result. Reset network with same result. I then factory reset device with the same result (this trouble shooting was done on site and without their guidance because they didn't even offer any form of help. I tested ​the SIM on an old phone (all of this on site) and it worked no problem. Rather than be offered a solution I was told the phone probably had that problem before the repair and they couldn't do anything for me even though I hadn't had an issue with the device for nearly 2 years aside from the cracked display. I asked what they could but the manager got defensive (they didn't even say they have a 90day guarantee on repairs). All they said was they would need to take my phone, call and involve the regional manager and investigate the repair, I'm sure just to get me out of there. Annoyed I walked out rather than put up with that. Needless to say, I won't be returning. Next time I'll stick with dealing with Google directly. I contacted ​them and told them about the entire ordeal and recommended they stop using them for their Care plan repairs. Google took care of me. They actually stand behind their work instead of accusing you of causing the problem. BestBuy would be a better place for repairs, they stand behind their work and don't blame you when they damage your devices. read more
