Ok, so the place is a local legend. Don't get too excited. It's a burger joint in a repurposed gas station. With expectations appropriately set, the burgers and fries are good and the atmosphere fun. It gets very busy. Be prepared to wait in line to order and wait standing around for your food. I've never tried their fried food other than the French fries, but I have to believe they are as good as people on here say. Gonna try that next time I'm in town. read more

Been coming here for years when we vacation in Amelia: everything is a treat--food is terrific, atmosphere charming, and staff show kindness and enthusiasm! The biscuits are like cumulus clouds--fluffy and delicious. The over-easy eggs are always timed to perfection. Whether you order bacon or sausage, they won't disappoint! My hubby loves their sausage gravy and biscuits and this is the ONLY place I'll eat grits! All lunch items that we've had are equally fabulous, including salads and burgers and daily specials. Don't miss the fried chicken and chicken 'n dumplings. Where else can I convince myself that I'm being dietetic by having a salad with fresh fried shrimp! My family of 4 had breakfast here this morning. Pretty excellent overall. I had an omelet with real eggs, my husband had French Toast that tasted like Mamaw made it and my in-laws had the big breakfast. We couldn't find a thing to complain about! With so many eateries stamped from the same mold from town to town, it's fun to find a given town's unique homegrown one and this is it. The food is good familiar casual Southern fare at both breakfast and lunch, but I love the atmosphere. It's good hometown folks in a converted gas station with good cheer and chatter amongst the largely local patrons. This is the kind of place that's disappearing so go soak in it while you can. You'll probably pass T-Rays three or four or twenty times before you find it. Occupying an old Exxon service station, T-Rays sports no signs advertising its existence. Just good ol' word of mouth (and now Yelp) advertising. Lots of locals here as well - all seem to know T-Ray (yes, he owns the joint and is a fixture there). Eclectic decor - lots of Georgia Bulldog memorabilia there - but don't get discouraged Gator fans - lots of UF stuff as well. We tried the "little T-Ray" burger - 1/4 lb. of juicy happiness served on a toasted bun with griddled onions and all the fixins'. (As an aside - I was wearing my Gator hat and wouldn't you know? My burger was served on a Gator plate. Almost destiny...) The combo comes with big steak fries perfect for dipping in ketchup. My wife even had some bread pudding that was homemade from things they just stuck together - she thinks it was the best bread pudding that she's ever had. Make sure to make T-Rays a stop one day for lunch. read more

We are visiting the Island for quick visit and locals told us not to skip T-Rays. Great advice! Burgers were fresh and ample and service very friendly. Burgers required two hands as they piled on the fixings. The setting - a converted gas station - gives the place a certain authenticity and the slogan "Eat here and get gas." I've never given no stars before and I guess the site won't let me. But I would if I could. Can't imagine what everybody finds so attractive about this place. It is dirty, smells badly of grease, the fries were ok but the burger was adulterated with a bunch of onion or garlic powder or something else unidentifiable. To top it all off it is SLOW. Lots of better places on the Island for a burger. Even Applebee's is better than this...! read more

TRays is serving up good home cooking, period! I have know Big Ray and T Ray for many years and love that they are doing so good. This place is rustic, funky, tacky and packed all the time. They offer a great Southern breakfast, then close and reopen for a lunch of burgers, daily specials, and everything you would NOT expect in an old gas station. Good people, good food, good prices. It figures GA Bulldog fans would like a filthy run down gas station with lots of fried food. Seriously, if you are on a budget- the food is OK for the price. It is far from the best burger on the island but does offer variety at lunch time and breakfast- especially since affordable lunch is hard to come by on the island. Pretty typical "diner" fare. My teenaged son confirms that the burger is top notch. I had a shrimp platter with onion rings, slaw and hush puppies. I enjoyed it all. Husband rates the hush puppies the best he has had. However, like all non-chain casual places where you order at the counter that are any good seating is in short supply, especially in inclement weather. Great little lunch spot in old gas station. This is definitely a locals spot, relaxed, and very popular at lunch. Food is always hot and delicious. Burgers are really good and so is the fried shrimp plate. Hard to get a table sometimes so grab one as soon as you walk up while your friend orders your food. Have you ever eaten breakfast or lunch in a gas station. This is the best kept secret on the island. The line waiting to be served is the best review you can get. You truly eat inside the gas station. Breakfast has the best home made biscuits anywhere. Lunch on burgers or fried shrimp. Just don't expect tablecloths. read more

We ate here once when we moved into town, bc it was recommended. The food was good, but I couldn't get passed all the dust and grime due to it being an old gas station. So we never went back. However, I kept hearing and reading about the burgers, so today we gave it another try. To our surprise, the restaurant had been cleaned and renovated!! Wonderful!! We each had the burgers and fries, and they really were GREAT burgers, and the steak fries were yummy too!! So glad we gave it another try.....we will be back again to try some more things on the menu......country fried steak maybe? Yummmm......... read more

Good food got the western omelet with bacon, also the hash browns very good. The restaurant is a old gas station. You order your food and pay they call ur name they bring the food over. Self service for drinks and clean it up your self. But the food is good, Good pic. read more
