This place is clean and super friendly staff! Has a cool wine cellar type room for parties. The food was unique and their chef does hybrid Colombian touched in his food! I think is a bit pricey for what it is but overall worth a try. Was very busy inside and does have a good location near the historic district of Fernandina. I will try again to see how menu might change and surprise the taste buds! Their bread served via a mini treasure chest is a cute but interesting touch. read more

David's is a popular spot for upscale dining just off the main road in Fernandina Beach. The restaurant has a small parking lot, weekly happy hour menu, and a small dinner menu. We were early, but quickly and kindly seated in a comfortable booth. Service and the branzino dish were excellent. Other dishes were rather mediocre. We ordered: * Cesar: basic * Daily Ceviche: good, though I prefer a spicier preparation * Sea Bass: disappointing and lacking flavor, according to my dining partner * Branzino du Jour: grilled over hot coals, prepared with rich mushroom risotto, truffles, and lumps of lobster. Stand out dish of the evening. While I absolutely adored my branzino dish, it was not worth the long drive. My pescatarian dining partner was deeply disappointed in the taste and plating of the food -- particularly compared to better nearby options like 14 Prime and Medure. I could have gone for a slice of rich, dense chocolate cake for dessert, but they only had creamy things. We passed. All in all, I'm glad I got to try David's. read more

Had a great experience for a special Mother's Day brunch at David's! Quiet and dark ambiance for conversation. Staff are ultra-attentive and helpful and pace the meal well. My wife started with a peach Bellini and I with a Bloody Mary - both were well done. We shared an appetizer of Trevally ceviche which was done in a unique and tasteful way. My wife got the steak and egg main course and I got the shrimp and polenta main - both were uniquely plated and perfectly done and delicious. We finished off with lattes and a crepe layer cake which was just the right amount of dessert. David's is an ideal place to go for special occasions in Fernandina Beach! read more

Food was ok.....small dinner roll was marvelous, filet mignon tender but not much flavor, mash potatoes may have been instant? We went to David's on Valentine's Day to celebrate, and we were not disappointed. From the outside, the building looks smaller than it actually is -- once you walk in, it feels much more spacious and inviting. The host greeted us warmly, quickly found our reservation, and showed us to our table in the lounge area. It was busy with lots of people (as expected on Valentine's), but the noise level was still comfortable. The wait staff was fantastic -- super kind, attentive, and helpful throughout the evening. We started with a bottle of Albariño, caviar, and I had the soup, which was absolutely out-of-this-world delicious. For my entrée, I selected the Valentine's preset menu, which included the soup, a perfectly cooked NY strip, and a dessert that was outstanding. I actually told them that dessert needs to be added to the regular menu -- it was that good, even if it was just a one-night special. My husband ordered the scallops and was very pleased -- he said we definitely need to come back again. It's definitely a place to celebrate something special. My friends and I came here to celebrate our birthdays. It's a really nice place and the service is white glove and upscale. I ordered the steak and lobster and it was cooked to perfection. The sauce it came with wasn't my cup of tea so I'm glad I asked for it on the side. The steak was tasty enough without it. The lobster was tender and soft with the butter. They provided complimentary bread which tasted pike focaccia bread. For dessert we shared a cheesecake. Overall it was a pleasant experience and great service. read more

Their staff is very friendly and professional. They communicate well before the event to coordinate menu, beverages and room set up. Amazing food, top notch service and a very romantic experience. Within the first 15 minutes of arriving, there were at least four examples of an attentive staff. From the hostess to the bartenders to more than one waitstaff (special call-out to Grace). They all work together seamlessly and help one another. It was clear that's how they roll. We arrived a little early and started our evening at the bar and we each had the signature "smoked old fashion". We weren't disappointed. Our table was a cozy booth, perfect. Within a few minutes we were greeted with amuse-bouche of hummus purée- we weren't disappointed. As a starter: for dinner, my date had the filet and I had the wagyu. Both were excellent, perfectly prepared. We agreed she had the winning meal , mostly because of the perfect medium rare. The filet was served with an excellent potato pavé, with carrots and a truffle mushroom purée, although she couldn't taste the truffle. My wagyu was served with potato croquettes, with a texture that burst into our mouths. Delightful. Carrots rounded out our meals. I recently accompanied some friends to have a celebratory dinner at David's restaurant lounge in Fernandina Beach. The restaurant has its own private parking lot. Interior of the restaurant seemed upscale and quiet which was great for lively conversation. We were happy with the menu and the food tasted wonderful. Also, very attentive and helpful. We like the touch of the iPad devices with information about the drinks as well as dessert menus. I would recommend this restaurant for date night or celebrating something special. Puffery. A very difficult layout for a person like me in a wheelchair. Also, if you are like me, you'll need a walker to get in to the restroom. It's a very poorly thought out design. As far as food, we've been twice. First time I had a ribeye which was terrific. Second time I was talked into a "Waygu ribeye, it was not good, not actually waygu, and super tough. Too inconsistent for the reputation they portend to have. We decided we probably won't go back. read more

Made reservations for my 40th birthday with 8 of my closest friends. We drank and dined on delicious food/cocktails. Pricing was a bit ridiculous but knew that going in. Wouldn't come again unless it was for a really special occasion. Service was decent. Kendall was our server. As the "birthday girl" I was disappointed that I was the last person the waiter asked for food/drink order. He really didn't treat me like a special guest or make sure I was cared for like you'd expect from a pricing upscale establishment on your birthday. To top it off, I got no dessert for my birthday or even asking if I wanted to order dessert. Not impressed. Atmosphere was not great. Waitress was very nice. Fairly nice ambiance. The issue was the food. There were 4 of us of which 3 of us ordered 3 medium rare steak. On was perfeft, the other 2 were well done! The portion was just 7 oz, the broccoli they gave us was 1 tiny floret, 1 small pearl onion, and a very small serving of basically puréed potato which I presumed were supposed to be mashed potatoes .‍ The waitress offered to redo the steaks but we were all served already and wasn't going to have them wait while they replaced the steaks. They provided 1/2 off each steaks entree only. The chef, the manager, neither came over to apologize... So in short I would never return and suggest if you are looking for a fairly expensive meal of decent size and quality, I would discourage this one . read more

We enjoyed David's but our takeaway was that there are better restaurants in the area with better prices. First, we showed up at 5:50 for a 6 pm reservation and they asked us to wait at the bar despite having all but one table open until 6 pm. They did this with other parties as well and by the time 6 rolled around, they had to seat 5 tables and we didn't end up getting called to be seated until 6:05. It didn't feel very professional given they could have seated all of us as we came in instead of making everyone wait past their reservation time for no apparent reason. David's is more of an upscale option than most restaurants and we would like to say the food warranted the price, but we think it missed the mark for what we were expecting given the cost. We enjoyed our dinners. We had the rack of lamb and filet and lobster tail; however, we felt they didn't warrant the hefty price tag. They were good but not excellent. The servers were very attentive and the ambiance was upscale modern. However, we felt that the chef was stingy in certain ways. For example, the chef cut one piece of bread into two bite size complimentary samples of their special ham appetizer when each person could have been given a full piece and we were given two mini macarons as a complimentary dessert when they should have given full size. The devil is in the details, and when you dine at a restaurant with a higher price tag, you have higher expectations. read more

We had a wonderful dinner experience at David's restaurant to the hostess, Julie our waitress and other staff serving. We shared the Davids salad and was delicious. Loved the watermelon and fried goat cheese balls. I had the special Snapper which was cooked perfectly with carrots and potatoes. My husband had the ribeye and excellent. Cooked perfectly. We went for a friend's birthday, and even though we couldn't get a reservation they were able to seat us within an hour. The food was lovely and service was good. They started us with a chest of beautiful sourdough focaccia and butter. The seafood gnocchi had a TON of seafood (including a full lobster tail) and only maybe a dozen gnocchi in the bowl. However I was not expecting it would be a huge bowl of hot soup (on a hot day!) It was super flavorful and I'm glad I got it, but it was also tricky to eat because the shrimp had tails on and the lobster was hard to remove from the shell, plus the stew was piping hot making it extra tricky to remove the shells. I was glad I was there with close friends. Picking shells off steaming hot seafood would not be ideal on a first date or a formal event! Another friend got the Wagyu steak which she seemed to enjoy but wasn't overwhelmed by. They also didn't do anything to acknowledge my friend's birthday, unfortunately. It's an upscale ambiance with a well-trained staff that shows how a professionally run and executed dining experience should be. I'm fairly jaded and I was impressed. This is a place that deserves dressing up for, although we saw shorts clad folks and guys in casual business attire. It was perfect for our birthday weekend celebration. The dinner started with the chef's amuse bouche -- a topped cucumber slice. Between courses, there was an intermezzo as a palate cleanser (mango sorbet). We shared a Caesar salad to start. And yes, we wanted anchovies. They divided the salad in the kitchen for us. For entrees, my husband had their short rib special of the evening. It was melt in your mouth tender. I had their filet mignon. There was a minor glitch with my meal. It was handled properly. And as a surprise ending, they brought two small delightful dessert bites with a lit candle for my husband's birthday. David's is one of the fanciest places I've been to. I've been to a few fancy, multi-course restaurants and this one has been the best. Don't let the outside of the building fool you. Inside it is like a totally different world of extravagance. The lighting is dimly lit in a romantic way. The stone walls have a glow that illuminates to the ceiling tiles as beautiful music plays to what seems like the perfect volume. I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and that is NOT something I've ever cared for. The wait staff was extremely attentive to every detail of the table. They came often to refill glasses and clear plates without being distracting. The bread came in treasure chests that I thought was interesting. We had the Valentine's day 3 course meal, but also ordered multiple alcoholic beverages, sparkling water, and their Picanha Wagyu. All of it was phenomenal. Delicious, rich, aromatic, aesthetically pleasing. We were actually STUFFED by the end of the night. Now.. we racked up a bill that was higher than anything I've ever paid at a restaurant, but I don't regret the experience and I would certainly go again to experience the rest of the menu. read more

Ah...... Our second visit. Food is just amazing. They started off with a little teaser. Goat cheese, beet, and mango, I believe.... Unexpectedly delicious. We then proceed with the grilled octopus and Caesar salad for our appetizer. The salad was perfection, and the octopus..... Dang! Flavorful and tender. Our mains were the Chilean sea bass, wagyu, and filet mignon. Each dish just amazing. We finalized the evening with the roasted banana cheesecake, and a chocolate mousse. Unfortunately not the mousse on the menu (guessing they were out), but instead something improvised. A dark chocolate mousse, with cake crumbles, strawberries and what appeared to be small cherry tomatoes. Odd, but it worked very well. The service was stellar, as we were well attended to. Our table had a little card on there, congratulating us on our anniversary. And they sent us off with a little extra: mango macaroons...... We dined at David's in celebration of our 20th wedding anniversary and David's staff were very kind and accommodating. From perfectly made cocktails to delicious appetizers to mind-blowing main courses, it was just incredible.
