These guys are always amazing. If you are looking for absolutely honest car repair service don't look any further. On 2 separate occasions with 2 separate vehicles I had oil changes done at, they also did an inspection finding over $2300 of work needing to be done per car, not total. I then took it to TS Specialties and these guys did an inspection with repair work that NEEDED to be done only coming to $300-$500. HONEST and reliable! I won't go anywhere else. read more

My husband's family has been using this mechanic for a long time, so when his car was having issues, he didn't want to look around locally and opted to drive out to west chicago to take care of the problem. He spoke with someone on Friday, and was able to drop his car off on Sunday for a Monday appointment. The place was easy to find and had a nice smooth lot to park in. Key drop of is easy and clear as well. The car had a few minor issues that they fixed. The kicker was that they noticed a wheel piece was actually missing and was important to have. They didn't currently have the piece but were willing to go and get it so we could still pick the car up on Monday. They called as the car was ready, seemed willing to wait until we got there to pick up the car, but we were more than willing and happy to pay over the phone so that they could be on their way home. We were pleased with the work and the price for everything seemed super reasonable too. We are very happy with the experience! read more

I bought my first car off the lot at T&S when I was 17 and we have been taking our cars there ever since. Recently I moved to the city and am not able to make it out to west chicago as often anymore...especially with a broken car! However, after being quoted $794 to fix a broken muffler by the Irving Park Midas I had to get a second opinion. I called T&S and they told me to bring it out in the morning, I did and they brought it right in an diagnosed the problem while I was there, turns out it was a loose heat plate which they tightened up on the spot and then they showed me where the muffler rusted off and quoted me $260 to fix it. I WITHOUT A DOUBT will recommend T& S. We also have been taking our cars here (even my old beat-up camaro) for many years... the guys (it seems to be family owned) seem very nice and friendly and the prices seem very reasonable. You won't find fancy coupons or huge lifetime brake gaurantees like you may at Midas, but Midas also charges a lot more and trust me - you "pay" for those specials one way or another. Ive taken my car here at least a dozen times and def recommend them. Dave and John (two of the mechanics that work there) are pretty nice and friendly and that goes a long way when it comes time to spend money on car repairs - we have all been there and we all hate doing it. The prices seem very decent and they don't seem to try to sell you the world just to try to make an extra buck. 4.5 out of 5 stars hands down!! read more

My co-workers recommended this auto shop to me because my ABS light was on. I dropped off my car in the morning and called them around 4pm for the update. Turns out that they couldn't fix it because they didn't have the right equipment to fix the problem (need to take it to the dealership--- sooo annoying). Anyways, they were SO NICE about things and VERY honest. And to make it even better, didn't charge me anything!! I am so used to mechanics ripping me off so this was a pleasant surprise. 08/22/2013 - I had horrible experience here - had explained both issues I had, was charged 48 for part and 148 labor (50 labor + 98 diagnosis) charge to replace 1 plug, okay, fair enough. When I called back to pick my vehicle up, was told that mechanic who fixed the car wasn't aware of another issue and that I'll be charged at 98/hr again just for diagnosis. I asked what if diagnosis would take more than an hour? Mechanic said he hasn't looked at the problem but is "pretty sure" it'd take exactly one hr and hence another 98$ to just touch my car again. I asked very politely that it's not my fault that mechanic wasn't aware of two issues, when I dropped my car off,I DID explain both issues if the owner didn't tell mechanic about both issues then I shouldn't be the one paying for another diagnosis fees to open the car again. To my great disbelief; owner (Dave) told me that he doesn't have time for "crap" and asked me to take my unrepaired car telling me "he's too busy and he doesn't want to deal with customers like me"!!!! He wasn't too busy to charge me $200 without fixing a thing though. BEWARE of these folks, very rude and over priced. They need to fix their manners before fixing the cars. There are tons of good auto shops around so do yourself a favor and go to an auto shop where people have manners and skills. read more

These guys are honest, friendly and good at what they do. They don't push work you don't need, their prices are fair (as in way better than the chain shops - but they have to make a living!) and the work is done right. In my experience it's usually been done earlier than I expected. Never go to a chain shop. If you go to certain national tire/repair shops or the dealership I feel sorry for you. Go to T & S. If you need a specialist, i.e. transmission rebuild, they will send you to the right one. I initially went to TS Specialties based on a referral from an entire family who are all still loyal customers. Two things are most important to me and that is quality of work and integrity. It is rare to find both of these qualities, but TS Specialties has both. I have been taking my car to them for about four years. Every single time they have been extremely honest and reasonable with their pricing. They always answer my questions and explain what is being done on my car and why. I won't go to anyone else (except my dealer and only if I absolutely have to for warranty purposes) because I trust them 100% to be honest and reasonably priced. I would highly recommend them! Although the people there were pleasant, I was very unhappy with the service. I had a simple censor replaced that consisted of having to remove the starter first. They did that and a few months later I had to go to another shop and get the starter replaced because T.S didn't put the correct bolts back into the starter. They only put 1 bolt back in and it was the wrong kind of bolt. This caused my starter to shift out of position. I had to have my car towed to the other shop because it wouldn't start. Cost me a lot more money then it should have. They also charged me for an extra hour of labor because they broke one of the bolts without replacing it. read more

TS is by far the best repair shop I have ever been to. I started going there when I bought my first car (a decade ago) because my father is a loyal customer. I have since moved several times and have not been able to find a shop like this. They are super nice people, always honest, and have saved me hundreds of dollars over the years. I took my car in recently for a fuse problem that I couldn't figure out and they dropped everything to take a look at it to save me another trip out to West Chicago (I live in Chicago) in case it was a quick fix. In 15 minutes they figured out what was causing the short (junk phone charger), replaced my fuses and sent me on my way. Then they refused to let me pay them! My car broke down just about a 1/2 mile away from TS. My stepfather wanted me to check out Franks which is just up the street, but I was not going to go back to them after they swindled me out of a large amount of money, but he got an estimate anyway of $398. I insisted we try TS Specialties. I was not disappointed! The crew there was very nice and had my car done the next day at the tune of only $156. I definitely will use them again with any future problems that may occur with my car and my family will also. Excellent mechanics, very good at diagnostics. Good price on repairs. The only negative I have is the quality of the parts. I have had a sensor replace 3 times and a thermostat that went bad. The thermostat was after 2 months which they refunded price of part but not labor. read more

I have used TS for years and been very happy with them. I brought my truck in to have it checked out because it was due for an emissions test and my check engine light doesn't work. I also noticed a higher than normal idle speed. I wanted to avoid having the truck rejected when inspected. That happened to me previously when they had redone the exhaust system. The problem had been repaired but they failed to clear the error code and so the truck failed inspection. Sure enough the same thing I was trying to avoid happened again. Truck failed because the error code for the air flow valve they had replaced was still in the system. So I take the truck back and speak with one of the owners (Dave) and show him the inspection paperwork. He goes to his computer to look up the code and can't seem to find it. Then goes out in the shop and talks to the mechanic that did the work. Then comes back and sits down at the computer again and says well we didn't know it was going in for an emissions test and I said I called twice before bringing it in and when I brought it in each time I said I wanted it checked out because I was getting it tested. Then he starts asking about the check engine light and did it come on and out and then come on again? He had asked about it before and I said the light never came on and I don't know why he keeps asking about the light because the problem is the code and they need to clear the code. He gets up and hands me the paper work and tells me to get out. They have plenty of good customers and he doesn't need to deal with me. I was shocked. Like I said I have been going to them for years, have three older vehicles that need lots of work and have spent thousands of dollars with these guys. Well they got their last dime from me. I had gone to a another place that seemed to be taken advantage of my lack of car knowledge, and these folk did it for less than half the cost than the other guys. These are by far some of the nicest, most competent and honest mechanics I have ever encountered. I brought my car (2004 Chevy Cavalier) to them today because another outfit who did an oil change for me told me I needed struts at a pretty hefty cost. Frantically gathering ball park estimates over the phone, I found TS came in a lot lower ($400 plus lower). Within minutes of my arrival there today they had inspected the car and flat out said I DID NOT NEED new struts. I asked if the car needed anything and they said it likely would need front brakes soon but not now, that it could wait a couple thousand miles yet, into the summer. I actually had to talk them into doing the brakes today because I am not going to be around much this summer. And it was a very reasonable cost. For instance, I was just quoted $1275 for brake line, rotors, brake pads, and calipers at my local shop. I called up TS and they fixed it for $850.
