I got the Double Trouble Roll with double salmon--it had good proportions and I really liked the refreshing touch of lemon on top. I also tried the Flaming Roll, which had a nice kick from the jalapeño and a smoky flavor from the tuna. The picture also has a combo that came with some chef's special sushi and a couple of rolls, and everything was fresh and well put together. Service was quick and kind, too. First time coming here and it definitely won't be the last. Located on Mills is this cute small sushi restaurant. I walked in around 7pm on a Saturday night and was fairly busy. They have inside and outside sitting. I sat inside at the bar area and watched my sushi rolls being made which was super cool. I ordered the Crunch Roll and the College Roll, college was my favorite! Our small trio stopped in here for dinner tonight while here for work at a conference down the street. The location in Ivanhoe Village is excellent. It is centrally placed near plenty of other places to grab a drink or bite to eat and also to enjoy the lake. Our group ordered some miso soup, the shrimp dumplings (Shrimp Shumai) and a hand full of of rolls - Mango Tango (without cream cheese), Heaven, spicy tuna, and California. They all came out beautifully presented on a wood platter. Everything we had was delicious! The Mango Tango roll had the sweetest mango pieces perfectly paired with the salmon. The classic spicy tuna and California roll were fresh and on point. The Heaven roll had the coconut shrimp In the middle of the roll mixed with some avocado. All around excellent service and delicious food! There are plenty of non-sushi options as well such as Japanese dishes or noodle soups. This place has horrible customer service and the ramen on my opinion is by far the nastiest tasteless ramen I have ever tasted in my life. I took one sip of the broth and immediately called the server over and said I'm sorry I really have never had Tonkotsu ramen that tasted like this before (didn't taste like Tonkotsu at all). The broth had no flavor and did not taste like it was made using pork bones. It tasted like it was instant ramen broth. I asked the server if I could replace it with sushi or something different. There are many tables inside (maybe seven tables and two counters for stools), but they also have some tables outside as well. The server was very attentive, kept us set with water and didn't take too long to take our order. The food preparation did take a little while though. I started with a house salad. The salad was okay, but the leafy greens were quite leafy and needed more dressing to tone down the texture and greeny-ness of the salad. My son and I ordered five sushi rolls: California, Mexican, another shrimp roll (can't remember the name) Japan Roll and the Fairy Tale Roll. The rolls were fresh and very tasty. I found the flavors of the Japan Roll and Fairy Tale Roll to be unique (which is what I was looking for). They also had a little spice which was good. I ordered a seaweed salad (yummy!). My boyfriend ordered steak teriyaki, one friend ordered her own sushi so she could have the varieties she enjoys, and the rest of us shared The Cruiser sushi boat. My boyfriend's steak teriyaki came out with the appetizers so he ended up eating his entree while we waited for our boat since the boats of course take time. Not a huge deal, but typically would have thought it would come out with the main meals. He found the teriyaki steak just okay. As far as the sushi goes, I thought it was really good and the rest of us eating it enjoyed it as well. It was a good variety, fresh, well prepared, and used sauce as an enhancement versus covering the sushi rolls to where you can't taste the fish as well like some places do. The Cruiser was a good size; four of us shared and were able to finish it without being overly full. At the end of the meal, the restaurant served a complimentary fried cheesecake for my birthday which we all shared and enjoyed. Inside is dimly lit and your typical sushi joint with a sushi bar at the far end. Server was attentive and friendly as I waited for the other member of my party to arrive and throughout the visit. They had several lunch specials. I opted for the two roll special, I wish it would have come with more than just the rolls, maybe a salad or soup. My husband had a Lion King Roll which was brought to our table lit on fire! It was really yummy! He also had a Tonkatsu Ramen, the flavor of the broth was delicious, the noodles were perfectly cooked, the pork was tender and flavorful as well and lastly I had a Mushu Roll. I want to start by saying super cute area, reminds me of an area similar to Miami. From the previous reviews I expected delicious amazing food and it felt a wee short. The food was good but it was generic and nothing out of the ordinary so say wooow. We had the beef tataki, the chicken dumplings, the chirashi bowl and two rolls one with crab and the other with tuna. The beef tataki was terrible I mean oh god. I would not be having this again considering it was just flavorless raw ish meat. The dumplings were delicious and the highlight was a sweet sauce that they came with. The chirashi bowl was nothing wow in comparison to other bowls we have had for example At seito. It just was so plain it didn't come with much and it felt underwhelming. The rolls I had were also a highlight. My spicy tuna was yummy and my crab roll was bomb!! Nothing that blew me away but I was happy because it was good. Overall the service was great we had a waitress who was very attentive and kind. We felt a bit rushed and we were the only table there with one more. It was a bit strange. They both looked beautiful and I loved/appreciated the attention to detail they provided in their presentation. The rolls themselves were certainly not the best I've had. One was very dry and the other lacked some flavor depth to the roll. They were some of the most creative rolls I've seen though! Our server was very nice and made our experience very pleasant. 3 stars for ok food and mediocre service. Stopped by for dinner after visiting someone at the hospital down the road. The restaurant didn't appear to be too busy when we sat down. We got our waters and our orders taken within 10 minutes of seating. I ordered unagi don, bf ordered tonkatsu ramen and his daughter ordered 2 rolls. Our food took a while to arrive. They looked like they had a lot of to go orders to fill and there was only 2 sushi chefs. The restaurant is also a tiny space. Food eventually arrived. My unagi don was good. It was served over sushi rice and I got a bowl of miso on the side. Ramen was ok ramen. You cannot compare to other ramen places. I would not care to come back to dine. read more
