The steak is waaaaay better, and affordable, plus way more sides and bread. Also if you come in a group you have to pay all as one or split the check evenly. So i ordered the steak my buddy got a burger. We couldn't just pay for what we got. We were told they could split it evenly or he could just pay me back later. My meal was $50+ his was $20-$25, and they wanted him to pay $40ish. That is just crazy. read more

Stuffy front-of-house staff - we stepped inside to find a cozy mountain atmosphere - an older hostess approached us but rather than giving us a warm Colorado welcome she went straight to the computer and started typing; after some time, she mentioned she'd be with us in a minute. My teenage daughter stepped close to a lamp on the desk and thought she had knocked the lamp to which the hostess said, "you break it, you buy it." I told her we had a reservation but were a bit early - "I suppose I can seat you even though you are quite early," she said as she led us into a half empty dining room. Our waiter was very nice and everyone enjoyed their meal. This was our second time to TT and the second time we were not greeted by the front-of-house hostess. Greeting guests is hospitality 101, hell it's human 101. Get over yourselves and you'll go from good to great. read more

DISAPPOINTING We've eaten at Tabernash Tavern annually since its opening in 2008, each time leaving happy and impressed, but not this time, not at all. First off, anyone eating here should always request a table up in the front of the restaurant, not in the back, which is clearly for families with small children. It was noisy and distracting. Our cocktails were watered-down. The food, for the most part was okay - not good, just okay. The appetizers were fine (Brussels sprouts and ahi), the steaks (filet) were tender and prepared quite well, but the desserts left an awful lot to be desired. Most definitely frozen or from a box, and the creme brûlée was more like hummus with a torched sugar topping. Just bad. The worst part about the evening however was the service. Simply non-existent. Our server knew very little about the menu or how specific food items were prepared. She was nowhere to be found on multiple occasions throughout the night and we had to ask another server to summon her twice. Even requesting the check at the end of the evening took 15 minutes. Bottom line - a $420 disappointing dinner for a party of six. GROSSLY OVERPRICED by any measure. I have no problem spending that on dinner, but it certainly must be worth it. For a better experience hands down, go to The Ranch House at Devils Thumb, but not here. We will not be returning. read more

I have been coming to TT for the past 12 years. Last night we took visiting guests and I was embarrassed at the meal. The appetizers of ribs and calamari were excellent. My normal favorite- the Brussel sprouts were not their normal crisp but a bit mushy. The menu is extremely limited unless you are there for burgers or a steak. Several of us had the Thai paella. The flavor was a bit diluted with the shrimp being so rubbery I could barely cut them. While service was slow, our waitress was very nice. For the prices, the food should have been so much better. read more

First, I must say the food here is excellent! We had the Kung pao calamari, black and bleu steak (cooked perfectly), and their special Chilean sea bass dish (to die for). I only gave 4 stars because I felt Uncomfortable with the proximity of social distancing seating and number of people seated in a room. We were seated upstairs, not a very big room, and there were several tables. There was a table directly to the left of us that I didn't feel was 6 ft away. Every table in our small room was occupied. When we were leaving, there was a room that had a huge party with what appeared to be 20+ People, and additional tables with seated parties in the same room. It just felt like a lot of people during a pandemic. I have really limited eating at sit down restaurants during the pandemic...made an exception for my birthday. Maybe I am a bit jaded. This is a fabulous find in the cutest little old town in Grand County. I have past this restaurant many times and I am thrilled that we finally stopped to give it a try. The bar in the front is so quaint that it makes me want to go back just to sit at the bar and enjoy some of the wonderful wines they serve. We enjoyed fabulous dinning with outstanding food and loved the wine selection. I love mussels so I had to try those and loved every bite. My husband got the rack of lamb and I have to admit I stole more than a few bites. Yummy!!! The service was top notch, we didn't have to wait for anything. The ambiance was great! They had it beautifully decorated for Christmas, which led to an even more enjoyable experience. We had our family here from Oklahoma and they were all very impressed by the food and environment. Dollar for dollar food and service, the Tavern gets only 2 stars. I was disappointed as reviews from friends were so much better. Our server seemed irritated that we didn't immediately know what we wanted to order for drinks (we ordered a bottle of wine) and appetizers. When the wine arrived, she dropped the cork on the floor and picked it right back up and placed it in front of me next to the silverware. Less than sanitary. For starters we ordered the cheese and meat tray. The cheese was described as "old world", which was interesting given the Leprechaun green herb-veined cheddar type cheese. No matter. The pig ears and salsa was probably the best thing we ordered (if you like that kind of thing). Served with three different salsas and piping hot. Our main courses came out pretty quickly. I went with the filet topped with wild mushrooms. It was cooked perfectly and did have amazing flavor. He ordered the lamb chops which were under cooked and didn't have much flavor. In fairness (maybe) the server did say they were seasoned and grilled with only salt and pepper, but still would have expected more flavor. The creamed spinach was whole wilted greens with garlic and cream. I really don't have any parting thoughts, other than I was disappointed and underwhelmed for the restaurant's prices. read more

Oh my goodness..., I laugh at some of these reviews!!! Truly, this is one of our favorite places to eat. Never had a bad meal and Sherri the hostess knows us by name. We have a second home here and this is our go to hang out. Sure we've been turned down once in awhile, because they are packed!!! Shari, Alberto, and the staff were wonderful to work with - and The Moffatt Room was an intimate space for a party of 40+ friends and family. Our guests ordered from a menu that we chose, and especially raved about the Buffalo Brussels, Paella, Prime Rib, and Cherries Jubilee Chocolate Cake (kids' menu available, too). Extensive wine and beer list, craft cocktails and champagne - all served by a highly professional wait staff. Disappointing. First, the bread was dry and didn't have enough salt. But the big problem with this meal...If you are serving a $49 steak, you need to be able to cook it perfectly to order. My son ordered a medium rare ribeye; it was barely rare. And we eat steak often at nice restaurants- we know what medium rare is. It's important to get that right. Waiting for his steak then to be cooked properly then ruins the whole experience. At a minimum, they should have taken his steak off the ticket or offered free dessert or something. It was my first time here with my family. We were on vacation and wanted a spot for dinner. Best decision made. the food was delicious! I had the French onion soup for an appetizer and the scallops for my meal. Others in my family had the Halibut and steaks. Our server was so sweet. I told her I was visiting from Miami and she just moved from North Miami(small world) last year. I highly recommend this place. Really wonderful place, the woman at the check in desk (owner?) was wonderful. The food was very good, and reservations are a must on the weekends. If I had any critique, it's that the prices are extremely high for what you are served. I've eaten in fine establishments all over and wouldn't have expected this one to be near the top, regardless of venue. The menu was somewhat limited, but everything was very good. The bacon steak was very good. The steaks were all good as well. Cooked well with good flavor. Fast service. Would prefer a more traditional bread selection to accompany the meal. We watched our waiter go to the four other occupied tables three or four time before checking on us. Food wasn't exceptional.
