A truly gastronomic experience in the mountains! As part of the Devil's Thumb Resort (for cross-country skiing), the Ranch House is such a beautiful place with top notch service and food. We came here before the pandemic. We wish them all the best with their projected May re-opening after the crisis. Do give their local wagyu beef a try (sourced from the ranch itself). I loved their daily soup special: miso soup base with mushroom and all the goodies!

Stayed at Devils Thumb ranch in a delightful log cabin and ate here for dinner. Food was overpriced but the surroundings were gorgeous and the service was over the top. Try the carrot bisque, so yummy!

Last night we enjoyed a wonderful experience at The Ranch House at Devil's Thumb outside of Tabernash. I can't say enough about the food (melt in your mouth Wagyu short ribs and cooked to perfection NY Strip), the ambiance, and the spectacular mountain views from our table. However, the best part of the evening was the treatment we received from the staff who seemed to go out of their way to see that we were totally taken care of. Bartender Austin (from our long ago hometown in Michigan) made a special trip over to Heck's Tavern to get my wife's favorite drink. Our server, Jeff, made the evening complete with his gracious presence and helpful suggestions. As now long time "locals", we would like to thank Devil's Thumb for making their resort at least partially available to non-overnight guests and hope it will fully open soon so we can resume our favorite lunch spot at Heck's Tavern.

Excellent place! Service was phenomenal, food was great and the ambiance of the homestead was perfect for the venue. The chef made a vegetarian pre-dinner taste for me after the candied bacon one came out first. We had 2 entrees, no drinks or dessert and our bill was $140 after tip.

Visited for my wife's birthday with my in-laws. We started with the Dungeness Crab & Avocado and the Butter Poached Pacific Oysters. The crab was tangy with its turmeric aioli and the Oysters were creamy- both delicious. Our main courses were fantastic! My Great Range Bison Short Rib was tender and her Filet Mignon simply melted. My in-laws had similarly great reviews of their trout and elk loin. We each had drinks, and shared one dessert which, with tip, brought the bill to $385.

    The tastiest amuse bouche!

Solid service but the place is just a little small and I can see how they get overwhelmed with customers at times. It will depend on the day but make sure to make reservations because yes, the food is that good you might be waiting. Five star food all day long the best food in Winter Park.

Look, let's be honest. There are some nice places in Grand County to grab a bite to eat. But really…read morefine dining? Not so much. The folks at the Wild Horse Inn used to run Solstice as a kinda pop-up restaurant in Fraser next to the Safeway in the winter when they weren't catering weddings and events during the summers. But then the Fanches who own Devil's Thumb bought the Inn owners out for over $3 mill a while back when they were on their way to buying up the whole county. So what happened to Solstice? Well, for a fraction of that price some sweet hard-workin' folks bought the Wild Horse catering business and . . . wait for it . . . yes . . . Solstice. Now (sweet) Sue and her partner have just started running Solstice as a full-time restaurant and boy does it rock. The place only seats around 25 people, but it'll be worth the wait (once everyone comes to understand that the place is now regularly open all the time this place is going to be jammed!). This new policy just started a couple/three weeks ago so when we came in last night the room was lightly used and we had a chance to visit with Sue, who's about one of the kindest best bartenders/servers/owners ever. We decided to make dinner out of five of their tapas offerings, starting with a super fresh and delicious salad, and followed by their smoked salmon crostini, dates with (spicy!) capicola skewers, ridiculously delicious scallops, and a really savory "burnt ends" dish of pork belly bites and crispy(!) mini-ravioli. Can't believe we had room for dessert, but the flourless chocolate tart with homemade whipped cream and raspberry preserve sauce was something we couldn't resist. (Next time I'm coming for you Mr. Key Lime pie:). All in all, a truly fine dining experience at a reasonable price point. So the bottom line is that this is great news for Grand County: the addition of a wonderful new restaurant serving really excellent food right in the heart of Fraser! 2

Good spot to watch sports games too, they have a lot of TVs around. Ordered the double ditch burger with onion rings, and a house marg. The burger was awesome. Definitely messy and was falling apart by the last few bites, but well worth it. The green chiles were a nice touch for some flavor and heat but not overpowering. Definitely filling and the move after a long ski day. The onion rings were good too - nice and crisp. The marg was strong and a fair price. If the weather is nice enough I suggest sitting on the patio. They have a gorgeous view and plenty of seating. We tried the Juantons and they are served with their spicy green chile. It was too spicy for me so we got a side of queso and it was perfect for dipping in. I would get these again. The margs are good here too. Pretty strong.
