We came in after going to Epic Universe, and the place was pretty empty but they didn't seat us right away, instead they took my phone number and they called me 10-15 minutes later. One of the better meals I had in Orlando. It was our last night in town and walked over here from our hotel. Service was accomodating and we got a seat at a spacious table, and the portions were huge for the price! We were basic and got the butter chicken/makhani and garlic naan, but it was very nicely done with a lot of flavor in the sauce and chicken that was not dry. There was plenty of garlic and flavor in the naan as well. I also had the goat biryani, which I was not as big a fan of. The flavor was also on point with this dish, but the goat was a little hard to eat and the meat was a little chewy and overcooked. We've been back here twice for the same meal. This Tabla, and there are five of them, has a vegetarian lunch special which is quite a bargain and obviously crave-worthy. We stopped in the first time as I was craving Indian food and we happened to be at Millennium Mall. It is only less than a ten-minute ride away. The lunch is multi-course with many choices of entrees for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians, all for the price of $14. I had the Paneer Tikka Masala as my main dish and hubby Saul had Vegetable Korma as his. Both beautifully presented platters included a small bowl of delicious soup, a well-seasoned and not-greasy samosa in a tamarind sauce, a large bowl of Jeera rice, two warm wedges of naan, and a dessert jamun. This was my first time to Tabla and my mom and I were impressed by the quality, freshness and flavor of the food and the amazing service. While the hotel itself is fairly old and mildly dilapidated, the restaurant interior is nicely decorated and has a clean and classy vibe. We came right when it opened so we got seated right away, but it definitely got busy as the night went on. Regardless, the service was fantastic! Food came out quick and our waitress came by several times to check up on us. We started off with the samosas and then got butter chicken, lamb biryani, dal ghosht, and an order of roti. The spice-level of almost every dish can be adjusted to suit your taste. There's also a selection of other asian dishes, like general tso's and pad thai, for some variety. For dessert we got the rasmalai. All the food tasted great! Perhaps my only gripe was that the roti seemed a tad bit burnt/overcooked but it still tasted fine. I tried Tabla at a Yelp event and had to return for more. This beautiful restaurant is tucked away in a modest hotel. My friend and I initially went to the take away area and fortunately were directed to the restaurant that has a fine dining appearance with family friendly service. We were so appreciative that our server was kind enough to explain the different food options and how they were prepared. We ordered two entrees from the lunch menu which offered entrees from the kitchen and a buffet that included an appetizer, soup, sides and a dessert. This was a great way to try several items. I googled and went since it's closer to where I'm staying; they have the October special of $30 per person. The portion was good for one person who doesn't eat a lot. The appetizer was ok the main dish chicken butter was good but less protein than the usual plate. All are tasty but they need to work more on portion and presentation. The service was disappointing. I stood waiting to pick up my to-go order and was ignored by several staff members. When I got to my car, I realized there was no silverware in the bag. I went back inside with the bag still in hand, but once again I was repeatedly ignored by staff. Restaurant is located in Clarion Hotel with enough parking in the back of the building. You have to walk in the entrance for near checking in desk area to get there. I got the butter chicken for an entrée and asked if I could have all white meat which they did say that they could do. Again the flavor was good, but the chicken was charred and you could taste it.
