A friend recommended this Indian restaurant to me, and I finally decided to give it a try. It's located off OBT, which was a bit out of the way for me, but I was curious to see what all the buzz was about. The prices were very reasonable, which I appreciated. I ordered the butter chicken and naan, and both were definitely the highlights of the meal. The butter chicken was flavorful and the naan was fresh and delicious. Service was good too. That said, I was hoping for a few more menu options to choose from in a buffet setting. Also, the portions were pretty filling, and I'm not sure I could regularly eat that much rich food in one sitting. Overall, it was a good experience and I can see why people enjoy it. For me personally, the location makes it a little difficult to visit regularly, so I probably won't be back anytime soon. Still, I'm glad I gave it a try and wish them continued success. read more

Ahmed has been one of my go to spots for Indian food for quite some time now and a bonus is that this location is very close to my house! Located in a small strip mall off OBT with plenty of parking and easy access from the main street. The inside itself has plenty of seating. The decor and furniture are a tad bit outdated but at least the inside was clean. We were seated almost immediately and our server was very quick and attentive! Now I have been here for both the lunch buffet as well as for the dinner menu and both are really great options. All the items are reasonably priced.. entrees ranging around $13-$16 each. During our last visit I got my usual order of vegetable samosa, both aloo and garlic naan, chicken palak, and chicken briyani. The vegetable samosa and naans came out piping hot. There is absolutely nothing like eating a freshly made naan... it's literally heaven!! The chicken palak is a spinach curry... which I got hot because I love spicy foods and the chicken briyani is a seasoned rice dish. The spices in both of those entrees were very good, it was like having an explosion of flavor in your mouth. Overall, I would say this place is a pretty solid option for Indian food if you are around the area. This was a go to of mine many years ago. But I moved a bit too far away too frequent. One of my twin 9 year olds is a vegetarian and he recently has started enjoying Indian food so I knew we had to make the trek out to Ahmed. The place has been remodeled since the last time I was here. It looks so different. Everything seemed clean and newer. Except the bathroom. It was dirty and has seen better days. Just avoid it if you can. The food is still great. They make sure the food has a moderate amount of spice so that things aren't bland. We all enjoyed everything we ate. We had the buffet which has several veg and non veg choices. 3 kinds of rice, lentil soup, salad naan, 3 deserts. My boys each hand a mango lassi that they loved. Honestly Ahmed's buffet was only mid at best. The food was okay, but I don't see a reason to come back. The naan was room temperature, which is too bad. Nothing better than hot, fresh naan. The fish was pretty good, but everything else lacked any flavor other than just spicy. I'd say just spend a few bucks more and go to Royal Southern Kitchen if you want a quality buffet. read more

Got take-out as it was near the end of the night on Thursday. The flavors were so delicious. The steaming hot naan was absolutely delightful. The tikka masala paneer was so so yummy. We also got lamb biryani and shrimp karahi. The biryani was flavorful, wish the lamb was a little more tender. The karahi was quite good but it does have head-on so don't just bite into it. Lovely lovely flavors all around. Not too spicy either, coming from someone with very little spice tolerance. It's very tolerable. Such a delicious dinner, would order again. Best place for Indian food!! Every dish was so delicious! Me and my family always ordered from them for years. Best buffet as well too. Our favorites was chicken tikka masala and also the chicken and lamb biriyani. I noticed recently this year the taste and look on the biriyani is not the same as before though. Finding an Indian buffet is much harder to come by these days. Orlando is a bit out of the way, but my home town has shut down its buffets since COVID and hence. This place was one of many to choose from but the only one that offered goat. Many offer just veggie and chicken dishes and personally I prefer goat or lamb. This place did not disappoint! Ahmed is a very simple and humble restaurant. The service was good and the drink refills were never requested but attended which is so appreciated! The food was wonderful. Tons of flavor and such a beautiful assortment of veggie, vegan, chicken and meat dishes with fresh buttery Naan. The buffet consists of many Indian delicacies such as Fresh Naan, Tandoori Chicken, Mutton Biryani, Chicken Korma, Butter Chicken, Spinach Paneer and Dal. I ordered my food to go, it consisted of Palak Paneer with a side of Biryani rice, a vegetarian combo which came with 2 samosas, aloo, and onion pakoda and one side of buttered naan. I am a hungry girl so I'm always ordering extra food just in case, and honestly, I could've just stuck with the paneer and the rice because I was STUFFED. They gave me an entire box of rice and I was only expecting a small side order! I ordered the paneer medium hot, and I thought it was the perfect amount of spice. It was not overpowering and was the exact heat level I was looking for. I thought the vegetarian platter was supposed to come with chutneys, so I was sad I had nothing to dip the potatoes and onions in but they were still tasty. The paneer was not fried, but it was still good. That's really the only thing I'd change about the dish, other than that the flavors and heat were not overpowering or overbearing, honestly just perfect to fit my taste palette at the time! As mentioned by other Yelpers the shopping plaza looks crowded and slightly old, but I found Ahmed's interior to be modern and clean. I arrived around 2 PM and was worried the lunch buffet would be winding down but I found a good assortment of food. I enjoy lunch buffets because it allows me to try new items and flavors. I am not much of a curry fan but this buffet had plenty to offer for the low price of $10. The buffet had a nice salad, soup, a kind of appetizer, several entrees, veggie selections, two kinds of rice and 3 options for dessert. For dessert they had gulab jamun (indian donuts), rice pudding and fresh orange slices. One really nice touch is that each buffet item was labeled with the names and prevailing flavors. Service was excellent for a buffet. My dishes were quickly removed and drinks topped off. The only thing is I had some food envy. The table close to mine got a sizzling entree that smelled so good. We often order Indian food at home but wanted to try it fresh today from a new location. And even though the establishment is a little run down the food was absolutely amazing. You could tell this food was made with care and the folks running the show here really know what they are doing. The food was served family style so we were able to share everything which made it really fun. We interacted with about half of the wait staff and they were very friendly and helpful. Our server in particular wanted to make sure we had a great experience and kept checking on us to make sure we had everything we needed. One of the reasons I am excited for our next trip here was from watching all of the other food go by as we ate. The colors, smells, and preparation of everything looked so delicious and exciting. While staying in Orlando before a cruise recently and drove by this restaurant. We do love Indian food and as they had a lunch buffet, we figured we would try it. The strip of businesses it was attached to didn't look like much but inside was clean and the place was busy. We got there about an hour before lunch closed yet the chef kept bringing refills of everything out until we'll past the close time. The choices ran from vegetarian to chicken to lamb to goat. All were so good. There were a couple of desserts and salad to start , which oddly enough was really popular. My thought is why eat salad when you can have a curry! Stop in and try. I went for their lunch buffet which is daily until 3:30 PM (not sure what time it starts). The good: social distancing enforced, masks required around buffet and while not eating/drinking. Butter chicken, tandoori chicken, and palak paneer were my favorite dishes. Everything else I tried including salad, naan, garlic chickpea curry, rice pudding dessert and the fried syrup balls were good as well. Servers and hosts were very nice and were fast and attentive to take away dishes from tables. Price was good for the value; for week day lunch buffet was $9.99 and weekend $11.99. What I didn't like: there were no disposable gloves available for serving at buffet. This was kind of icky especially since most people are eating with their hands particularly to eat the naan. Also I don't know if it was because I just happened to be there at the same time as a large group of people who always took a lot of food at same time, but whenever I got up to eat there was many dishes empty and not being refilled fast enough at the buffet. I had to sit and wait quite some time for them to be refilled. At one point there was no salad, no salad dressing, no tandoori chicken, no butter chicken, no naan, no syrup balls, no rice pudding and no orange slices all at the same time. Basically half the buffet was empty, and for reference I was there from 2 - 3:30 on a Saturday when the restaurant wasn't too busy. Overall: food was good but I would advise going early for lunch buffet to ensure you're there long enough for them to refill the food in buffet. read more
