    Crème brûlée
    Heather F.

Thought we would try this place when in town and it did not disappoint. It's a small place and I think you need to make reservations ahead of time. We did anyway. The service was great! I got a vodka martini that was a tad on the pricy side. We both got the buttermilk fried chicken with mashed potatoes and collard greens and it was outstanding. Great crunch on the chicken and juicy inside. The sides were good too. We had crème brûlée for dessert and that was good as well. We will definitely be back next time we are in town.

Ludington is fortunate to have this kind of eating establishment in town. We ordered the duck and the shrimp and grits. Both were delicious. Service was solid. Ambience is very relaxed yet a bit elegant. Can't wait to return.

Shrimp and grits-had a little twist and we thoroughly enjoyed it

I hate to oversell this but it might be one of the best restaurants I've ever been too. Everything was over the top incredible from the crab soup starter to both desserts that were ordered; crème brûlée and blueberry cobbler. Mussels were phenomenal, absolutely had to share that fact. Service was ideal and the ambiance was cozy. Make sure to reserve a table ahead of time!

Enjoyed a wonderful dinner. The crab cakes were amazing! Best dirty martini too. Great option if you are looking for a fine dining experience in Ludington.

The dirty espresso martini is TRANSCENDENT. Courtney the bartender is a genuine delight. The owner, Laura, (women owned business!!!) is so personable and lovely. Their specials are always fabulous but the lobster salad is is MUST HAVE!!! Best spot in town.

Naan Bread with Pulled Pork, onion bacon jam, smoked Gouda and apple cider honey glaze. Tasted awesome - nice size for a small dinner. Atmosphere was nice and service was great!

What a wonderful find! We were visiting town and came across all the great reviews on Yelp on this gem. Food, service and drinks were great! Forgot to take pictures before we all dug in, but entree choices were Filet with port wine sauce, shrimp and grits, chicken fried chicken, and the salmon. All were excellent. Service was wonderful, Amanda really took care of us and we'd love to go back if we are ever back in town!

Is there a separate space for a rehearsal dinner on a Friday night in September? Probably 20-30 people.

Yes. They have a lower level that I think would work for you. Call them and ask about it.

Then, you pick up your bag of food at a little window outside, and then find a place to eat outside or take it home or to your hotel or wherever. If you're dining during decent weather, you can take your food to one of the tables located in the plaza. So, now you know how Keeper's Fish Shack works. Hopefully, I've saved you from sounding like a bozo like me, when I said, "This is a to-go order" when you order. Because duh. All of the orders are to-go orders. I ordered the blackened North Pacific Cod Tackle Box. Tackle Boxes come with fries, hush puppies, coleslaw and sauce. The fish was very tender and flaky, and the spices they used were just spicy enough to give it oomph. The hush puppies are a definite must-order, and I say this as a person who has neutral feelings about hush puppies. My husband got the Fried Shrimp Tackle Box, and he said that the shrimp were perfectly fried: not too much batter. They have a kids menu here: your choice of fried cod bites or chicken tenders. We got one of each, and my kids really liked them, especially the cod bites with a little tartar sauce. The kids meals come with apple sauce and fries, but no drink. When you go into the shack to order, look to your right and you'll see refrigerators with lots of different beverages, including local Michigan beer in cans. It was nice to drink a local beer while enjoying our fish meals outside in the plaza. When we visited, the farmers market was happening in that same plaza and there was live music, too. That's the best way to experience fish at the beach, if you ask me.

The food was served quickly and piping hot. I got the fried perch tackle box. I really wanted to add a piece of another fish like blackened mahi mahi, but they declined. With my tackle box and my husband's, the total was upwards of $50. The portions were small, especially the fries for that price. With it being a walk up restaurant, you aren't paying for service. While the food was good, I probably won't make a second trip.

Ok 20 mins after we ordered you came and told us that... salad came out and was junk.... The bare minimum of dressing and cheese croutons looked like what you would find in a bag on the bottom shelf of grocery, our steaks came out medium and medium rare came out looking like pit roast when we cut into them the baked potato and Mac and cheese look like it had sat under the lamp for quite some time .... The lobster tail was cold and rubbery.... For a place that wants to look a higher scale was WAY below the bar like in a town that basically shuts down at 9 this ruined a near perfect day. When we cut into the waitress even goes I do t eat stake so I would t know I was like it shouldn't be charred on the top.... I don't know but if you wanna charge $40 for a steak make it right... no explanation from any management or any concern when I got and said well just pay for our drinks the manager was standing ay the edge of bar.... Upon first look it does not appear any exterior improvements have been made - the place looks a bit run down and can do with some paint and landscaping. Upon entering I immediately noticed that the interior had been redone with paint to brighten up the place. We were quickly greeted and seated by the hostess. In re iew of the menu it does not appear much has changed since our last visit in 2018. Being in the mood for a steak I ordered the Blackened Ribeye. It came out very quick, but though properly cooked, I was disappointed in: 1. It was not blackened 2. It was pretty thin about half the thickness of ribeyes I have had in the past I didn't return the steak because I did not want to wait for a reorder. The waitress was great - didn't ask her name or I would give her a shoutout, but if it helps, she said she had only been there 1.5 years and has a tatoo sleeve on her left arm. She was sweet, friendly, attentive, and took great care of us. Not sure I will be returning for a third time.

Today we visited and it was awful. It is so sad to see that this restaurant has completely went down hill. Things started off fine. We were greeted at the door and seated right away. We then waited 50 minutes for our food to come out. Our appetizers came out quickly because they were just deep fried apps, but our entrees took 50 minutes. Our appetizers didn't taste right like the oil was old or something. The onions rings did not look appetizing, a darker color to them from the oil? My friend has the fish and chips and said the fish had good flavor but it was chewy and soggy. My other friend had the fettuccine Alfredo and didn't even eat it. We all tried it and it didn't taste like Alfredo. It had tomatoes in it too. My other friend had the salmon and rice pilaf and thought it was good. I had the cowboy burger. It was a really good burger, the patty was on the thinner side and it definitely wasn't cooked all the way as shown in picture. I appreciated that they used real bacon and not microwave cheap bacon. The bun was a little small for the burger but it was packed with onion rings, bacon and bbq sauce. Again, the onion rings weren't great. The manager/our waitress Mandy was kind and attentive. She asked why I didn't want a box for my burger, and I just said it wasn't really cooked all the way. Then she shared about how things have been rough there and she is hoping to turn it around with being recently hired. She shared how the chef "has no clue what he is doing." Whoever owns Timbers is going to have to close their doors because no one is going to visit a restaurant that is not enjoyable. It was a Saturday night at 5-6pm and there were only 4 tables with people dining. That is a big red flag if your business only has 4 tables on a Saturday. The atmosphere is great, they have an upstairs and a small deck out back, and it is just so sad it is going to waste. There is free street parking and a small parking lot next to the restaurant. Overall I hope this place can turn around.
