    Tabor Hill wine tasting!!!!! #Michigan

*Screaming* Heyyyyyy Mary!! I did NOT forget to do a review on your winery!! Ladies and gents! Let me share my experience about this niceeeeee winery I went to. This was my SECOND winery of the day. It was about 3 weeks ago. But I remember it well. On the outside, it doesn't look like much-but just allow me to talk about the amazingness that happens on the inside. Simple, comfortable/cozy and warm is the feeling I got on the inside of this place. My gf and I were welcomed by Mary. Great smile, full of spunk and great valuable information! We let her know that we desired a tasting and she got right down to it. Asked questions of our pallet (s), was it our first time and such. We made our selection -taking our time selecting from 6 different wines. She was VERY knowledgeable of aromas, pairings, tasted and so much more! I was intrigued just listening. We sipped alot. Tried what seemed like everything. Lol (we didnt). And it was a great time. Fyi! Blueberry Franc is a special treat of a wine. It is not for everyone, but it packs a sweet, semi thick punch of adulting that all should try just once in their lives. At the end we were given a free wine glass, and suggestions for items to pick up soon that would be needed for all wine drinkers. If you travel to Michigan, please stop by this lovely gem of a winery for a tasting. Take a seat and get a glass of something yum, talk with Ms. Mary and tip her!! Michigan is filled with wineries. That's cool. Just make sure to put THIS ONE on your list to stop at and enjoy! #GoGetYouSome

Holy inflation Batman! Tastings used to be complimentary at the Tabor Hill tasting rooms but since the company was bought out by another winery, no more. I think it's the only spot in Michigan I can recall charging double digits for tastings (it's $12 now ... More in line with Napa/Sonoma than Michigan, especially since their bread and butter has always been super affordable wines like the classic demi sec, available virtually everywhere around these parts in the $8ish per bottle.) They've also done away with the chocolates that used to be sold at this location. I've always been impressed with the tasting room staff at this location but it's too spendy for me these days.

I liked the cherry and cherry sparkling the best. The blueberry port was also interesting, strong. The bartender was very friendly.

We liked three of the six wines tasted. $12 for 6 modest tastings seems pricey for the quality. Showroom is basic and service was very nice.

Inside, the decor is open and bright, with natural light pouring in through large windows. The outdoor deck offers plenty of space, making it a great spot for groups, and the umbrellas provide solid shade on sunny days. Wine tasting is done standing at the bar, but you do get a discount on any bottles you purchase. The best deal is the "Build-A-Bag": buy 3 bottles and get a 4th free. My favorites were the 2019 Estate White Blend, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, and the 2023 Simply Rosé. On top of all that, the staff were friendly and helpful throughout the visit.

The grapes are labeled and it was fun to see the red grapes and the white grapes growing with stakes in the ground telling what they were. The wine-tasting building, itself, was architecturally spectacular, and we were very pleasantly surprised by the vaulted ceilings and modern design. The wines were very good. I found the unoaked Chardonnay to be really delicious, my favorite of the ones I tried. We were inside for the wine tasting but then we went outside to the lovely patio to chat and enjoy the view and sip on more wine. Since we went with empty stomachs, we ordered the cheese plate. It was a lovely afternoon at a lovely winery.

Everyone at the register was welcoming, and our host, Ms. Becky, was exceptional. She was attentive, informative, and made sure our group had an enjoyable experience throughout our tasting. We really appreciated how she took the time to explain each wine selection and tailor the experience to everyone's individual tastes. The only drawback during our visit was observing the male manager being somewhat short with Ms. Becky, which was unfortunate to see given how hard she was working to provide excellent service. Aside from that, the experience was fantastic. My entire party enjoyed themselves, and we all left with bottles to take home. We would absolutely return and hope Ms. Becky receives the recognition she deserves for making our visit so memorable.

There were wine bottles everywhere, displays throughout the room, and just a lot to look at while you walked around. Our server was super nice and made the whole tasting really easy. We started with the fruit and cider flight, and that was actually a lot of fun. It was interesting trying them back to back and seeing how different each one tasted. But the one that really surprised me was the Key Lime Pie Martini. I was NOT expecting a dessert in drink form. The rum cream gave it that smooth, creamy sweetness, while the lime brought a bright, slightly tart kick that tasted just like key lime pie. The vanilla and cream made it silky and the graham cracker rim finished it off with that buttery sweetness. It honestly tasted like someone turned a slice of key lime pie into martini and somehow it worked perfectly. Every sip was sweet, creamy, tangy, and just a little refreshing. Definitely the drink I wasn't expecting to love as much as I did. For my first wine tasting experience, I'd say it was a pretty great introduction.

People were hanging out, listening to the music, and enjoying their drinks. The staff were incredibly nice and the recommendations they gave us were spot on. I decided to try the craft canned cocktails, the flavors were Moscow Mule, Lemon Elderflower Vodka Soda, Blackberry Gin Gimlet, Strawberry Margarita, and Grapefruit Paloma. They all had something different going on, but my favorites were easily the Strawberry Margarita and the Blackberry Gin Gimlet. Those two were phenomenal. The Strawberry Margarita was fruity, bright, and super refreshing. It had that sweet strawberry flavor right away, followed by the citrusy tang of the margarita that kept it from tasting too sweet. The Blackberry Gin Gimlet had a deep, juicy fruit flavor with just the right amount of sweetness, while the gin brought in that herbal, slightly crisp flavor underneath. It had a little tartness at the end that made me want another sip almost immediately. They were the kind of drinks that felt perfect for sitting outside on a nice day.
