When we got here it was early in the day and empty. Perfect! We had a flight of wines and a few glasses along with a charcuterie tray. We sat out on the patio under an umbrella. It was a beautiful scene on a warm sunny day with a beautiful blue sky. The staff were great! It was nice and peaceful. Then some bus loads came in. We packed up and bought a few bottles of wine on our way out. Would've stayed longer, but the peacefulness was gone. No worries! We will be back on another day to enjoy another glass. We were driving to another winery in the area and saw Hickory Creek so we decided to stop and we were so glad we did! We were greeted by Adam who is the owner and he welcomed us,explained his wine offerings and even showed us the back room operation. This is one of the smaller wineries in the area but the wines we tried were fantastic. We did a tasting of 5 wines for 15.00 . We did a mixture of reds and whites and each one was delicious. This is a small winery that is veteran owned. Adam the owner takes great care making small batch wines and it shows in the taste. He poured each tasting individually and talked about the wine leaving us time to enjoy it before pouring the next. He took the time to answer all our questions. We took advantage of the special offer where if you buy three bottles the tasting was free. I was excited to learn that a Dry Traminette even existed and it was very good without the sweetness. Besides that one we also bought the Neutral Oak Chardonnay and a Cab Franc, all delicious! We will definitely return to his special spot on the Michigan Wine Trail. read more

My husband and I cannot recommend this winery enough. We love wine tasting and have done wine tasting in quite a few wineries in Michigan. This is by far our favorite!. By the time you leave, you will feel like family. It is a small, independent winery, unlike others in the area. As you drive up the drive you drive alongside the vines. Stopped by Hickory Creek at around 2pm on a Friday. Our group got one glass of the 2021 Grüner Veltliner and a tasting. A (5) glass tasting was $15 and individual glass pours are offered in two sizes: 5oz or 7.5oz. It was a bit chilly outside so we sat inside the winery. It was rather small but additional outdoor seating is available for sunnier days. Soon after we started our tasting, a group of 9 as well as other smaller parties arrived. We immediately felt brushed to the side as everyone else began to be taken care of. It was about ten minutes that we waited for the second tasting glass to be served in which we had to go up to the bar and ask for it. If one sits outside, you get all tastings at once; but inside, they serve you one glass at a time which did not work out well in this instance. Our server was not giving us any information on the wines like the woman behind the serving counter was to guests. It was also disappointing to see so many awarded wines around the shop but none offered on their tasting menu. All of the wine glasses we had also had a particular smell that was off putting and took away from the tasting experience. Overall we were a bit disappointed after hearing such high remarks about Hickory Creek. read more

This was another outstanding winery tucked in the country side. It was easy to find. The house/tasting room was welcoming and comfortable. On this occasion Hickory Creek was hosting several parties with reservations. This was a bit odd to us as we don't usually encounter large parties, buses or limos at wineries. I will admit that the team here did an outstanding job managing these parties. My wife and I sat at a table inside and spent a lot of time with Jamie. Jamie knew his products and wines. He was very well versed at walking us through tastings to meet our tastes. He was very engaging and friendly. He did an outstanding job at managing all the tastings that were in process while making us feel special. Overall we found several dry reds that fit our pallet. We really liked the Pinot Noir. My friends and I came to the area for a bachelorette party wine tour. This location was the third stop on our trip. This is the smallest winery in the region but we got to interact with the staff the most at this location. They were super knowledgeable about everything and you could tell how much they loved winemaking. They greeted us outside as we walked up and gave us a choice of inside our outside. They let us know that could have a guided tasting inside or a flight board outside. We opted for the guided tasting since we all are pretty much novices. These were probably some of the more sophisticated wines that we tasted. I was not a fan but again I am not really a wine person, I was just along for the ride. We did get to try a test pilot wine that was made from hybrid grapes that didn't even have a name yet. That was pretty cool. We loved hearing about the history of things and getting a more in-depth description of each wine. And playing on the vintage tractor out front. read more

I went to Hickory Creek Winery as part of a bachelorette party. We were so well taken care of and had a wonderful time. We did the wine tasting and enjoyed each of the options. One of the members in our group only drinks white, and they customized her tasting options so she could still participate. We brought some snacks with us to enjoy, and they didn't seem to have an issue with that. We were surprised how busy it was when we went - we were glad we made a reservation, especially as a group of 6! We were there mid-afternoon on a Saturday. The weather was cold and snowy, so the space outdoors wasn't in use. It looked like a nice space for when the weather is nice! read more

This is a small tasting room, but don't let that deter you from going here. They have some unique and robust wines here. The semi-dry Riesling is superb. This is a late harvest Riesling that has notes of apricot, honey, and peach. The Niagara also had perfect balance, and while it might sound strange, you should try it. Ask for the Barrel Reserve with Syrah, Grenache, and Monteverde, it's excellent. Bottom line, they have unique quality wines here. Loved Hickory Creek Winery! They had some delicious wines and the person pouring was so friendly, helpful and well informed - it made Hickory Creek a very fun time! Hickory Creek has some very pretty grounds that made for great photo ops both inside and outside. They don't have seats for their tastings but it was still an enjoyable experience. It's a small area inside for tastings so they can only have a set number of people in there at a time. My group had to wait a bit for the last group to clear. We sat outside at their picnic tables cracked open a bottle of wine and swung on their tire swing. It actually worked out quite nicely having to wait. Once inside we tasted five wines and had the nicest guy ever serving them to us. A tasting is $8 but keep in mind they are very small so it's best to make a reservation! Made the whole experience great! It didn't hurt that their wines were very tasty, as well. Loved this winery mucho and would definitely come back again. read more

I planned a roadtrip through the midwest a while back and Hickory Creek Winery was one of the stops on the itinerary. As I was driving through what seemed to be the middle of nowhere, I wondered to myself how it was that I heard of this place and why on earth I chose it. And then I arrived at this bustling and charming winery. I was surprised to see that it was just about packed with people relaxing and tasting wines. I had the obligatory wine tasting for $12 and I enjoyed the unique selection of wines, some of which made from fruits like apple or orange. I also had a lengthy conversation with one of the employees and I learned quite a bit about the area and the 39 wineries that make up the wine trail. I was disappointed that I didn't have time to stop at more, but I'm glad I was able to stop at this one! read more
