Its amazing! If you want Authentic Thai food. This is the place! They have a great secret menu that you have to ask for. Its spicy and great! Everything in the menu's are wonderful. I have had the mild curry, panang curry and the green curry from the regular menu and I am addicted to them! Perfectly spicy for my taste as I like spicy but just a touch of it. Not medium but more light to medium. The soup noodles from the secret menu are incredible! I had a duck noodle soup and was medium spicy and I loved it! Have not had any ok dish. Every time we come here the people in our table are amazed. And it's BYOB and dishes around $8-$12. Just perfect! read more

I always get the Kra Phrao Kai Yeow Ma, which is spicy ground chicken with whole crisp fried basil leaves served over deep-fried black duck eggs and sticky white rice. The minced chicken is so delicious it would taste good sprinkled over dirt-and yet the real star of this dish is the crispy basil, which adds a delicate crunch and burst of flavor to every bite. If you haven't tried thousand year duck eggs the colour might come as a bit of a surprise - they are black - but they taste like tasty deep-fried hard-boiled eggs and provide a nice balance to the spicy chicken. I come here frequently for lunch when the place is quiet and the service really is quick. Highly recommend the moo ping as an appetizer. Tastes just like Bangkok street food. And the Kao Soy will take you right back to that hole-in-the-wall you remember so well from Chang Rai. read more

Tac Quick is cool...with patio seating. Food is good enough to come back (a little bit on the sweet side...though). I like Goong Op Woonsen ..aromatic baked glass noodle.. and Kao Ka Moo(Stewed pork on rice) which is well done. Music they play in the room is like techno rap from wannabe bands. Best Thai food I have ever had! I live nearby so we order delivery from them. Like everyone else that has already commented, I recommend ordering off of the secret menu. My absolute favorite Thai restaurant, and I eat Thai food all the time. The panang curry is the best thing on the menu: a perfect combination of spicy and sweet. The pad thai is also extremely good. This restaurant is neighborhood gem for Thai food. I go here at least couple of times a month. I usually stay away from the secrete menu but my boyfriend seems to enjoy it. I love their Pad khee mau and their chives pot stickers are to die for. Its cheap and BYOB. Tac Quick would've gotten five starts only if their service wasn't such a disappointment every time I go here. The servers are not really good at explaining things and some of them have just have a hard time communicating. But other than that, the food is delicious and definitely worth trying at least once. read more

I LOVE Thai food. Even though we go to Thai Aroma (a few blocks away) more because of how close and cheap it is, Tac Quick will always have a special place in my heart. It's a cute place to go on a casual date with your significant other. They have a wide range of options AND it's BYOB. Conveniently, there's a liquor store a few stores down. Now, let's talk about the food: 1. Moo Ping-- We get it every time we go. It's beef on a skewer. It's kind of price for the amount of food but it's SOO GOOD. Their dipping sauce is delicious; but it's not necessary consider how juicy the beef is by itself. 2. Panang Noodle--Their panang is AMAZING. The only complaint I have is the amount of panang they give you. The second time I ordered it, I asked for extra panang and they charged me $1 or 2 for it. I can't remember. 3. Kra Prao Moo Krob-- This is heavenly. You have to eat it when it's hot. It melts in your mouth. 4. Kuay Teaw Pet-- The shredded duck absorbs all the flavor in the broth. Their service is so-so. Another complaint I have is their hours. They close kinda early IMO. read more

Mine was a spicy seafood dish... It was definitely spicy but not the good flavorful kind. Others got really bland tasting noodle dishes as well. OMG! This doesn't even warrant one star. The flavors make zero sense to me. Dumplings? Not. The food here is kind of "meh" to me. Everything tastes ok but nothing spectacular that I expect from a Michelin recommended restaurant. And the Yen Ta Fo is really weird. I will try to order something from the secret menu next time. read more

I had the most atrocious service here during lunch! I will never come here again. I was wanting to have a quick item for lunch before a meeting I had around the corner. When I arrived there were only 8 guest in the restaurant and I made 9. I had 30 minutes to have lunch. It took the waitress 10 minutes to come take my order. I ordered a lettuce wrap and a side of rice. It then took 15 minutes to get my food. She also forgot my rice. When it arrived, I asked for the check and to go boxes for my items and it took another 5 minutes to get that! read more

All around satisfied with our first time eating here, have heard great things and most expectations lived up. Food flavor was great, we especially enjoyed the Pad Khee Mao for entree and Moo Ping for app- both were awesome! The Jungle Curry was the least favorite of the dishes we tried, just wasn't anything special. Tac Quick is a good Thai restaurant. Which, IMHO makes it a GREAT Chicago Thai restaurant. Somehow I eat at more bad Thai and Vietnamese restaurants than I eat at good ones; this has NEVER been my experience in the Twin Cities (w00t). I just moved out of the Tac-Quick area, and figured I would show them some love as I will have to red line to their door now. This place has a great location right next to the Sheridan Red Line station, and is pretty passable for eat-in goodness. However, expect the music to be real bad, and sort of loud. Not bad in a Gaga/Xtina/Britnasty on full volume sort of way, bad in a Christmas time stuck in an elevator at Macy's sort of way. My usual order: Crab rangoon (so much better here than most places, great cheese ratio) Tac Quick fried rice (real good, Jalapenos really set it off) Entree size is good here, and their delivery is really consistent and fresh. Try this place if you live in the area and haven't already. Probably wouldn't recommend traveling too far out of your way though... read more

This is one of my favorite places for Asian food! The crab rangoon is to die for and I have yet to find anything on the menu that I don't like! The atmosphere is clean, modern, and open, and in the summer they have outdoor seating, which makes the experience even more amazing. My sweet Valentine had them reserve the perfect table for two for us on Valentine's Day, and we brought our own bottles of champagne since the place is BYOB (which is outstanding!) It is also unbelievably affordable....you definitely get WAY more than you pay for here! read more

Tac Quick is easily my favorite Thai restaurant in Chicago. It's authenticity is unbeatable. I know when Thai food comes to the mind of a typical American, immediately they think of Pad Thai and Lard Nar. This restaurant has that but so much more. Came here on a rainy day and it was still amazingly packed. So initially they sat us by the restrooms which didn't have the greatest of smells so we decided to sit at the bar. The wait staff wasn't overly pleasant but the food certainly made up for it. I had the fatty pork with rice and it tasted like I went to Asia and killed the pig myself for a mere $10. Definitely worth the visit if you have the taste for authentic Asian crusine. read more

The "secret" menu is not so secret, but it does have some great stuff on it, so ask for it and order from it. Tac Quick is another authentic Thai restaurant that you could find next to Sherridan Red Line. I went there alone to try it out. Staffs here are Thai and the sevice is quick. My grilled pork neck tasted nice, and the dipping sauce was traditional but not very spicy. You can ask them to make it spicier if you are Thai like me. Lard Nar gravy is of the type I normally eat back in Bangkok, Thailand. It is the most traditional one I have had so far in Chicago. However, their mistake is that they put in the ginger. So, my dish also tasted like some other Chinese dishes, which kinda make me confused a little bit. Never found ginger in Lard Nar any where in Thailand. Anyway, the lunch did make my day. Next time I will try a different menu and bring some friends !!! read more

I am a big fan of Thai food and have been known to frequent many Thai establishments across the city. That being said, Tac Quick, despite it's unlikely exterior, makes by far some of the best food I have ever had. They have all of the dishes you would be accustomed to seeing at a Thai restaurant (Noodles, curries, fried rice) but they also have a 'secret menu' that houses their specials and some foods that I would usually not think to order such as basil brisket, pork neck, and fish cakes. They even do a pad thai dish prepared in an omelet. I would definitely recommend trying something new here and coming in a group of three or more which allows for optimal sharing of multiple dishes. read more

I've lived in the area for months and always dismissed it as a hole-in-the-wall taco place due to the name. I'm so glad I actually looked at the menu taped to the front door this afternoon. I had no idea there was such a Thai gem only a few minute walk from me. Absolutely delicious. I tried the Gyoza and Crispy Calamari appetizers, Pad See Ew, and the Chicken Lettuce Wraps. The flavor in everything was spot on. The gyoza, which can sometimes be too greasy and doughy, was perfect. The calamari wasn't overly chewy or overcooked. The Pad See Ew was delicious, had tons of flavor. I was even given a quarter of a lettuce head for the lettuce wraps, unlike most places that give you one or two leaves and hope that's enough.
