I love Thai food. It's probably my second favorite cuisine, and I always have to try a place's Panang curry. Naturally, Kinnaree's was delicious. Additionally, we got some potstickers as an appetizer and those were tasty too. Kinnaree is a very small restaurant with like 7 tables. It's not super intimate because of how close you are to other tables but that is honestly part of the charm. When we went there, there was one man doing it all. He cooked, her served the food, and he cleaned up afterwards. He was polite and friendly. Would definitely recommend stopping by if you live nearby. read more

The owners of Kinnaree are very sweet. Actually, the whole staff is great and friendly. They can make most dishes vegan which is always a plus! My favorite dishes from Kinnaree are the curries and the gyozas. It's a cute place if you want to dine in, as well! We had the veg spring rolls and they were some of the best zive had, super fresh spin on the usual type I eat. I had the wide rice noodles with chicken and veggies. My first visit this afternoon led me to one of the tastier Pad Thai preparations I've had in quite a while .Adding succulent roast duck and perfectly al dente fresh veggies really elevated the classic, not-too-tamarindy , eggy noodles with the usual fixins, but the coup de grace was the house hot sauce , a witches brew that would be at home at the best Mexican joints as well as Thai . The pork pot sticker tasted pretty much the same as any other Thai restaurant you order from. Nothing special, but not amazing either ($7.00) Spicy Basil Dish- Chicken ($11.00) Served with Basil leaves, bell peppers, and hot peppers cooked with chili basil soy sauce with an over easy egg on the side, and served with jasmine rice. I made a specific request to make it "spicy", but to my disappointment, this dish was a bit bland. 4 stars for a good value, because the spicy basil dish was pretty generous! Pretty dead on a Thursday night for dine-in at least. It's a pretty casual spot, and BYOB with no corkage fee! Hurrah! There's a liquor store conveniently located a block away too. Kinnaree gets an extra star just for this! The night went wrong in only one big way - the service was somewhat non-existent. We had to flag someone down every time we wanted something - to order, to get another napkin, to pay... Other than that though, our experience was fine. Wifey was craving Thai food for dinner, so a quick search in the nearby area brought us to Kinnaree. Street parking just out front on Ashland was free which was great (I love not having to pay for parking). For a Thursday night, we were the first ones in for dinner and were followed by another 2 or 3 groups. As I had noticed, plenty of orders going out the door for delivery and pick up. Interior is dimly lit and ambiance is casual. It seemed like it was a BYOB spot but I wasn't able to confirm via any sign. After studying the menu for a few, they do offer all the Thai favorites you've come to know and love. We ended up trying the Tom Kha soup with chicken to start and an order of pad see eiw and the spicy basil dish with pork. The Tom Kha soup seemed to lack coconut milk and didn't quite have the right consistency. The pad see eiw with beef was just okay and also seemed to be missing some key ingredients. On the other hand the basil pork was quite delicious and spicy, and I had no issues finishing all of it with the white rice served on the side. Debated almost going 2 star here as I feel I've had better Thai food else where, but I think the price point and the basil pork dish were enough to convince me... it's aite. I see a lot of reviews that say this place isn't so good and yet they give it four stars. I am here to set the record straight. This restaurant is not good and you should spend your Thai restaurant dollars elsewhere. We ordered many things for a Saturday night family dinner and movie. nothing we ordered had any flavor at all. Thai food is supposed to be sweet, spicy, and savory. Even the expressly ordered "extra spicy" dishes had no flavor at all. the lard bar is not the crispy noodle delight we have had at other places. It is more like mush is starchy water. the pad Thai was bright orange and the noodles were slightly sweet, but there was very little chicken and no crispy vegetables or peanuts to give it contrast. Thai fried rice? no flavor. Tom Yum soup? No flavor. you can check my reviews. I write few bad ones, but i wish we could have this experience back and start over. read more

I was so excited to try this place after seeing it highlighted on Instagram. Overall, I was disappointed with my visit but glad I gave it a try. We arrived around 5p.m. on a Sunday. Restaurant was completely empty. We were barely greeted and seated. It took forever to place our order let alone receive it. Our entrees were delivered to our table a minute or two after our appetizers. When I asked the waiter (maybe a cook?) for a recommendation between two entrees, I was told, 'Whatever you want.' ‍ Perhaps we arrived at the wrong time, or this place is more takeout? I probably won't be going for a second time. I will say the rolls we ordered were good, especially the Fresh Rolls. My Pad See Ew was almost average and hardly a full portion for the price. There were maybe 5-7 noodles with a small portion of veggies. The other entrees ordered at the table were about the same, average if that. Not worth it. Plenty of other places to go. Really wonderful. Thai has been elusive in quality here in the Midwest. Once spoiled by Thailand itself or the amazing West Coast fare, Chicago has consistently disappointed. However, this was outstanding. The Tom Kha was perfect, the fried tofu and peanut sauce were great and the fresh Spring Rolls were delicious with the inclusion of avocado. I ordered the chicken phat thai, kow tom mat, and thai coffee. The chicken was on the dryer side, and the noodles tasted okay, definitely not the best phat thai I had, I couldn't really taste the aromatic flavors like fish sauce that I missed when I visited Thailand. I liked the thai coffee that I ordered, it's on the sweeter side and it's strong. It reminds me of cafe sua da (Vietnamese iced coffee). The ice does help cut the sweetness of the drink and it doesn't dilute it too much. The kow tom mat, it was my first time trying it. I was hoping they had mango sticky rice, but I think that's a seasonal item. I can't really compare it to any other thai dessert, but it tasted delicious. I noticed while I was eating there were some beans in there. I honestly didn't mind it, but I don't recall the menu saying there were any beans included in the dessert. Overall, my experience was okay. I definitely have been to better Thai restaurants in the past. But I'm open to coming again and trying different items like the curries and soups. read more

We ordered: Duck pad thai $12 Shrimp Fried Rice $10 Chicken satay $7 Thai Tea $3 I really liked the pad thai with the generous amounts of duck! It was the perfect consistency and super flavorful. It didn't taste like your average pad thai but no complaints here. The basil fried rice was underwhelming though there was plenty of plump shrimp. Ever since this place opened in my neighborhood, I have wanted to check it out. Last week I finally decided to take the plunge. From the outside, it doesn't look like much. On the inside, it is small but cozy. Armed with some frosty beverages (it's BYOB), my boyfriend and I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai, crab rangoons, mini eggrolls, and the spicy fried rice. We were pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed our selections. I had bad luck the last time I ordered Thai food from another restaurant, that I was ready for the same experience. Thank goodness for Kinnaree! Everything was fresh and delicious. My favorite was the crab Rangoon. My boyfriend, on the other hand, could not stop eating the spicy fried rice. Even after he said he was stuffed, his fork kept moving from the plate to his mouth! We had leftover Pad Thai which I brought to work the next day. Note: this reheats nicely --- definitely worth ordering extra if you like to pack a lunch for work. We will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu! read more

Over priced. 7 diners seated at 8 p.m. They byob-d. Sedate crowd. More people would have made it crowded. Seats and tables are packed too close. In a world brainwashed by Starbucks, a small Thai iced tea for 3 bucks shouldn't raise any eyebrows. But I'm old enough to remember the world when it was a saner place. This used to be our go-to Thai place for takeout, as we live nearby and it was super convenient, but we dropped it after repeatedly having to wait well beyond the pickup time we were told. I decided to give it a try again and even showed up 10 minutes later than the time I was told to give them a cushion. I arrived to pick up my order and was yet again told it would be an additional 10-15 minutes, which turned out to be an underestimate. In fact, it wasn't ready until 28 minutes after I arrived. My takeout order was finally prepared 1 hour, 25 minutes after I placed the order. In my experience, this type of service is typical and indicative of a pattern of chronically bad service. Since it's been so bitterly cold outside this past week, I decided to order food for delivery. I usually never order food because 1) I live within walking distance to an abundance of great, local food spots and 2) I'd rather spend the delivery fee money on more food. I decided to try out Kinnaree Thai Kitchen since it's not too far from my place so the delivery time would (hopefully) be less than normal. I got the Pad Thai with chicken (my go-to order at Thai spots) and a diet coke. The delivery took a little less than 60 minutes, which is to be expected on a weekend night during the winter. The Pad Thai arrived and was still reasonably warm but not quite what I was expecting. My Pad Thai was more orange in color than what I've gotten at other restaurants. The noodles were a bit dry as if there wasn't enough sauce added to the dish. The chicken pieces were nice though; they were tender and not at all dry. Overall, I would give Kinnaree Thai Kitchen another try. I'd probably eat-in instead of ordering delivery and try out another dish. read more

Loving this cozy place for authentic Thai food with attentive service. I usually stick to what I know (like pad thai or bamee soup), but with recommendations from our awesome waiter, trying new dishes, like the spicy tom tom papaya salad and the kinnaree noodles did not disappoint! I was even impressed by the flavors and tenderness of the meats in the dishes, like the pork in the kow moo dang and the moo ping (also pork). Nothing was super oily (which is not my preference) and nothing was dry. Every dish seemed freshly prepared and was presented beautifully. Added plus is that this place has street parking and is near to residential streets without permits. Since they have a cozy, intimate space, I would also recommend calling ahead to ask for wait times if you are bringing a large group or coming during peak weekend times. read more
