Worst breakfast I have ever had! This is an over priced Denny's. They screwed up my omelet twice. Never got my ingredients correct. Waited over 1hr to get my Denny's food. Was never offered to comp on my omelet. Everything was low quality besides the decor. I also was craving a bloody marry supposedly Best in the city but they don't serve alcohol on Sunday. I am furious!!! So upset I just paid $35 for a Denny's quality breakfast. I Do not recommend this place for any one. They also messed up our checks for us two couples. She put the drinks on the wrong checks so eventually I paid an extra $6. Our waitress deserved the low tip for screwing things up. She has one job to do and can't get it right. read more

Went for a Saturday morning breakfast per a friend's recommendation and I was pleased. I ordered the War Admiral (scrambled eggs mixed with meats and veggies w/ a side of toast). The building looks like it was ripped out of a storybook and is a neat setting for breakfast. Space is available both inside and out for your meal. My girlfriend, a Lexington native, picked this place to meet up with a few friends. She had not been here, but based on yelp reviews, she decided to give it a shot.... We arrived aound 10, and there was a line out the door. Its a pretty small place, but we figured it must be good since so many people were waiting. We had a party of 8, and were told there would be a 45 minute wait. We ordered bloody marys and coffee, which were pretty tasty, and patiently waited. Once seated, our server got our drink and food order pretty quick. So far so good, right? Then the food came... I ordered the War Admiral, what i actually got, was just sad. For just under $10, i was expecting a pretty substantial skillet. Instead, i got maybe 2 unseasoned scrambled eggs, some sausage, onions and peppers that were uncooked, and what looked to be pre-cooked potatoes all tossed onto a skillet and No cheese. I was starving, so i didnt say anything. I took a few bites, and it tasted worse than it looked. Luckily the girlfriend ordered a side of pumpkin pancakes for us to share. They were pretty good, but small. The girls all got egg sandwiches, and they were pleased with what they got. My buddy got 2 eggs and bacon, but was unimpressed by the "pub potatoes". The restaurant itself is lovely, with plenty of seating in a cute stone cottage with wood floors, horse/KY/general store decor, and chairs with the logo carved in. I was really excited for a brunch option near my house (Lexington has too few brunch options as it is!), but having gone twice, I can't say I have much of an impression about the food. Chicken soft tacos were boring, with largely flavorless, slightly dry chicken, eggs were fine, flour tortillas were boring, salsa was a mild saving grace (in that it had flavor. that's it). My sandwich the previous time was also boring. Just because it has a fresh piece of lettuce and tomato (and some kind of completely forgettable cheese) on whole grain bread doesn't make it anything special. My companions' meals were also fine, but forgettable. Service is cheery, bright, and energetic, matching the atmosphere and making the whole experience better. I went to the Tack House Pub for brunch with a friend. They were on a wait, about 20 to 30 minutes, so we decided to wait. The only place they have to wait was outside and it was cold and raining. We waited for a while and when I went to check on the wait list (30 mins later) they said it would be another 10 minutes and suggested we wait in our car, they'd call us. When we finally got seated about 15 minutes later, I ordered a fruit smoothie and the Belgian waffle with strawberries and whipped cream and bacon. I can't recommend their smoothies enough-literally the best smoothie I've ever had. The waffle was also amazing, the bacon a little burnt but the strawberries were so fresh. Besides the whole wait outside in the cold and the wait time going over, we had a great little brunch. Not sure if they serve alcohol at brunch, we weren't offered a drink menu or anything like that. This place is adorable and the staff couldn't be more friendly. Our food wasn't bad, but it was just ok. The sausage is definitely a frozen sausage patty (I know because I've purchased these exact same patties from Gordon's Food Service to feed big crowds). I didn't care for the sausage at all, but my eggs were cooked well and the toast was good. My husband said his breakfast tacos were ok, but bland and the potatoes needed seasoning as well. We probably won't go back because if we're paying to eat out we prefer fresh ingrediants over frozen. Went to breakfast this morning, and had such a great experience I wanted to come home and post a review. We arrived just after 9:30am, and were lucky to find one open table inside. All the tables outside were empty, but by time we left, they were full as well. It has a quaint and comfy feel as soon as you walk in. The staff was friendly from the moment we arrived, until we were walking out the door when they thanked us for coming in. I ordered the breakfast burrito, which I found to be delicious! I enjoyed the refried beans, along with plenty of cilantro for extra flavor. I would definitely order the burrito again! It came with a side of either potatoes or grits. I went for the potatoes, and they were ok. I was a little disappointed that they were not made from fresh potatoes, and instead were from a frozen bag, but they tasted fine for what they were. Next time I will be sure to try the grits. My husband ordered the special which was 3 pumpkin pancakes, and your choice of sausage or bacon. The pancakes were to die for. A nice welcome to Fall. He also said that the sausage was very good. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was for the potatoes. I feel that if you are known for being a breakfast establishment, you should really serve the finest breakfast foods, and I really missed the homemade home fries! If the service had not been good, I would be giving this place one star. For what I paid for an bacon & cheese omelet, I seriously expected better than what I could make at home. The food is way overpriced for the ho-hum food it serves. The egg was cooked until it was dried out and the cheese tasted like Kraft cheese. The cook was not stingy on the bacon, but the serving size was sad (maybe 1.5 eggs? It would be a stretch to say it was two eggs.) I actually left hungry. Even my child was disappointed with her *pancakes* (how sad!) and left most of them. (She can easily eat two of Cracker Barrel's pancakes!) I felt robbed when I left having paid $36 for two omelet meals, two coffees, and a kid's pancake breakfast, plus tip. Needless to say, I won't ever choose to go to the Coffee Pub again. read more
