Tacky Jack's Gulf Shores is another fantastic spot! We tried it for the first time this year while on vacation, and it was truly amazing and so much fun. The food is delicious and cooked to perfection -- everything we tried was flavorful and satisfying. It's a great kid- and family-friendly venue with lots to do. There's live music, karaoke, and even a mini beach or sandy play area for kids. I love that there's both indoor and outdoor seating, and the outdoor space is perfect for family fun. The location is convenient with plenty of parking, a little off the beaten path from the main beach, but totally worth it. We can't wait to go back next year and will definitely make Tacky Jack's a regular stop for lunch and dinner on vacation! read more

My family and I came in on a Sunday Mother's Day, the place was pretty empty compared to others around the area for the day it was. The place seemed nice with live music but not very clean, a couple of our chairs were wobbly. Hubby and I ordered a Bahama mama and a pina colada, drinks were good. We had the fried green tomatoes for appetizers, my were those hot and delicious, they are served with a side of ranch. For entrees we had the shrimp and grits, tacky shrimp and from the kids menu lil' fishies. Our food was all very hot and fresh but everything was very subtly flavored. This place is great for breakfast and drinks. If you are going there for food I would skip it. It's your basic fried food and bar food selection. It's a fun atmosphere. Service was fine. I can't really judge the service because there were about 35 of us that just showed up. I think they did well accommodating us. We were there around 4:30 towards the end of November. When you pull up to Tacky Jack's in Gulf Shores, Alabama you're greeted with a bright sign and fun feel. They even have fun music playing to go along with it. When you turn the corner to the entrance it becomes a whole lot brighter! The whole place is painted in bright primary colors and there are strips of duck tape EVERYWHERE. Seriously, every where I turned the tape was stuck with writing and phrases. If was such a fun atmosphere. They had a pretty fantastic view off the back too! The view and the breeze made sitting outside a nice feature. They only had two waitresses on though so we sat inside. Even with a busy dining area our waitress was pleasant and efficient. I went with the Buffalo Chicken wrap and it was super tasty! I could taste the buffalo flavor (which I love) in every bite. I couldn't finish it all and let full and satisfied. I loved this place. Firstly, it's super tacky and something about this place, I can't quite put my finger on it, but something about this place gives me the impression that is the intention. But, it's very fun. We elected to sit inside. It's only April and I already can't deal with the heat and humidity. The biscuits and the beignets were a given, and both were DELICIOUS. Those little beignets were such a nice lil treat to share. I got one of their breakfast plates with eggs, biscuit, sausage, and grits. It was basic and simple but solid. The grits were incredible. GF, after declaring the day prior that she "wasn't in the mood" for a bennie, ordered one of the bennies. She says "I thought that was amazing". We both ordered a spiked coffee but I realized afterwards that they supposedly have a great bushwhacker and I was subsequently upset with myself for not ordering that. What a fun place. We had the best server ever! Nachos were a huge hit. I am not a queso fan and this don't disappoint as they use wonderful cheddar and it is a huge size. Will be back for sure. read more

We love Tacky Jacks and this location is no different. Great local vibes, live music, beachy atmosphere. Not fine dining but find food nonetheless. All of your standard beachy drinks too. We set outback so the kids could play in the sand and watch boats go by in the canal. Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. Seafood nachos were huge and a great appetizer. My husband and I are in Gulf Shores, AL on Spring Break. We went to Tacky Jacks and was very disappointed in the food and service. My crab legs were cold. The potatoes were cold as was the corn on the cob and what was supposed to be "melted" butter was not melted. My husband ordered the taco salad. The shell was stale, there was little to no lettuce, and it was floating in grease. It was by far the worst meal we have ever had in Gulf Shores. read more

We have been to Tacky Jacks in the past, but this year the service was terrible and while my fish was fine, the others in our party got the prime rib meal which was tough and overdone. Our waitress took our orders and we never saw her again. Someone else delivered our food and she never came back to check on us. I went to get the hostess to Tell her we needed drink refills, butter, and a side salad that wasn't brought with my meal. Eventually they brought this. Our waitress never checked on us until she brought the check. We told her how bad the prime rib was and she said her manager would discount it ( It was $24.99). He gave us $1.00 off and the waitress said it was 10%. We told her that 10% would be $2.49. She took it back and they did give us $5.00 off. I've never had worse service at a restaurant. read more

Kids asked for REFILLS from bar soft drinks (we were recharged on bill for those drinks). I asked for PLAIN pasta - child portion - with butter. Not a menu item or even on kids menu - but they serve pasta with Alfredo & chicken or shrimp - so I did not think this would be a difficult request. Meal came with Alfredo sauce. Waitress noticed before she handed me my plate and took it back to the kitchen to have redone. Came out after almost everyone was done eating. Bill comes and I am charged for the main meal pasta ($26) - for a small plate of buttered noodles!!! $26 for BUTTERED NOODLES! The most expensive meal ordered! My husband paid the bill on the table side tablet and waitress tabbed thru the screen for him and gave herself a 20% tip! We had to get a manager to refund bill and rerun with NO TIP! Absolutely disgusted by the over charged drinks and lack of willingness to try to adjust the pasta meal cost or even to take it off the bill completely bc it came out wrong and I had to wait for it to be remade. We recently visited with family and were unfortunately very disappointed with our experience. The overall cleanliness did not meet expectations, and the food quality was lacking. The Philly cheesesteak, in particular, had minimal flavor, and the cheese resembled nacho-style sauce rather than what we anticipated. Very cool place! Royal Reds are very yummy! 1 lb, corn and potatoes $27. These had the heads on them, the location at orange beach has them without and much easier to eat. In 2021 they had a more expensive option to get the shrimp with no heads, I do remember more corn, potatoes and sausage. I guess inflation happened and had to cut back portion sizes. read more

We have visited Tacky Jacks in the past and always thought it to be typical "beach food". On a recent visit while riding bikes with our dog, we visited this restaurant for lunch. We didn't expect much. It was simply a nice ride from our condo and is pet friendly, so we decided it to be a good option. We ordered their burger and it was outstanding. The two patties smashed with cheese sandwiched in between was perfect. The fries were hot and delicious. We also order the shrimp appetizer and it was great too! Arrived after church. Seated promptly with a great young waiter. The Bloody Mary with Tajin rim was awesome with Whiskey Willy's mix. But the crown jewel for breakfast was the Shrimp with Gouda Grits and it was the very best Shrimp n Grits I've had in 10 years. I sample them all over the coast. I had the "tacky shrimp with angel hair pasta. It was so good. Shrimp was cooked perfectly and the sauce was a little spicy. Reminded me of a Cajun flavor. My husband had the "Philly cheesesteak. Liked the ambiance. Certainly casual but expected. Staff was a bit quirky, but we got used to it. Everyone ordered UNSWEETENED tea and it had gone off because that is not a thing in the south!
