    Shrimp Po' Boy

Upon your arrival you can just feel the hospitality from the hostess. The gift shop we browsed while waiting to be seated was amazing, and very well priced. The view from the restaurant of the bay was definitely a beautiful site, and the restaurant itself was awesome. Starting with the pickle chips as an appetizer was definitely the right way to go, as they were amazing. The crab claws were out of this world, but should be paired with a butter dipping sauce. And the sauteed shrimp Po' Boy just hit different. Would definitely go back.

This was a fun place and the food was ok but in my opinion, the food was a bit overpriced.... Maybe it was three drunk that cost us $35. The atmosphere was cool and to sit outside in the summer, we did not get hot. Our server was kind but forgetful. They ran a shuttle to your car but even when I walked out at night with two young kids, the guy never saw us from looking at his phone.

We tried the firecracker shrimp appetizer and it was good. For our meal, we shared the Fish Platter with blackened, seasoned fish , hush puppies , and fries. Our daughter got the same platter but fried. We ordered a piña colada and a cherry bomb from the bar. Our grandsons celebrate their birthdays two weeks apart and they are taken to the beach for their birthdays. The best part of the fish platter was the hush puppies. Otherwise , bland. I asked for extra seasoning but still not much flavor. Our daughter liked her fish. The atmosphere was good for family vibes.

Great overall experience. Got a picture with Ronald McDonald. My food was exquisite. The service was good she was very friendly but she did take my nachos away from me without my consent maybe they could improve on asking first. I would recommend if you are in gulf shores Alabama. 4 Stars

Tacky is right! And that is great. This is a Marina waterside eatery with all the good and bad of that. The Dodd however is a different story. If you like seafood, in anyway imaginable, this is your place! We had the fried chicken wrap and the name of your sandwich a I like crab d the Crabby Pattie Sandwich The crab is a fried crab deep fried., fried of course! Both were superb. The sandwich was a crisply fried crab cake on a brioche bun. Light and with a lively seafood taste. The Chicken Wrap was a home run. Crispy bits of crusted fried chicken resting in a nest of lettuce, cheese, and tomato all wrapped in a surprisingly light soft wheat tortilla. The atmosphere was lively, the staff friendly and effervescent, and the outdoor section was very airy and vibrant. Our server was Tava. Ask for her if you want an excellent experience in helpful service I give this a strong "A" all around.

Ugh I'm so sad about my last experience at Tacky Jacks. The view is still amazing and it's a great location, but everything else was bleh. The good: dogs allowed, boat parking, the view, the crab claws, the fried green tomatoes, and the frozen drinks The mid: the service. It was fine I guess. Could've done a better job of selling us on stuff, we probably would've bought it. The bad: my firecracker shrimp tacos were absolutely disgusting. I took a couple bites and couldn't eat any more. I was so disappointed. They come with chips and salsa. I asked for fries but still got chips and salsa instead. The salsa tasted like bland tomato juice. So couldn't eat my side either. I just finished off the fried green tomatoes and got another bushwhacker so I wouldn't go hungry. Our server wasn't super present so not like I could tell him about it to fix it. Sad that tacky jacks has gone down hill since our last beach trip.

About how long is the wait around 6 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday? What time would be the best time to visit?

The fries were really good too, and I have to mention the ranch because I am PICKY about ranch and this was the good kind! The drinks were also a win. The place itself is gorgeous. The setting is fantastic. You walk in thinking, "Okay, this is going to be a great experience." Then somewhere between the host stand and the check, things begin to unravel. Today finally pushed me into Yelp-review territory. We stopped in around 1 p.m. on a slow Sunday. The hostesses were gathered around the stand chatting like somebody had just dropped screenshots from the group text. The person who eventually greeted us was wearing dark sunglasses inside, which was certainly a choice. Not exactly the polished first impression you expect from a restaurant charging these prices. Once seated, things didn't improve much. Our server struggled to explain the specials, answer basic menu questions, or really seem familiar with what the restaurant was serving. Again, if I'm paying Zeke's prices, I'm expecting something slightly more polished than, "I thinnnnk that comes with..." Then the food arrived. One sandwich was specifically ordered without onions because of a food allergy. It arrived covered in onions. Another meal was supposed to come with Brussels sprouts. It arrived with fries instead. Our server disappeared for about 15 minutes after the food was dropped, so by the time she came back, we were nearly finished eating and in need of refills. I mentioned the missing Brussels sprouts and was told they'd be "right out." The Brussels sprouts were not right out. In fact, the Brussels sprouts apparently entered the witness protection program because we never saw them again. Neither did our server. Eventually she returned with the checks, seemed surprised that the Brussels sprouts had never arrived, removed them from the bill, and otherwise appeared remarkably unconcerned that the meal had been wrong from beginning to end. And that's really my issue with Zeke's. Restaurants have off days. Kitchens make mistakes. Servers forget things. I get it. But when you're charging premium prices, service should be the easy part to get right... and after multiple visits, Zeke's consistently misses the mark. At this point, I'll spend my local dollars elsewhere. And if you're visiting from out of town, just know what you're getting into: the view may be beautiful, but there's a decent chance your wallet will leave considerably lighter while you're still wondering whatever happened to your Brussels sprouts.

My advice, find a seat, have someone order at the order window, then head to the bar to order drinks. The wait to order food took about a half hour. It was very quick to get our drinks. We were able to snag a couch area on a platform. It was so comfy and we loved the views. A heads up- if you snag a couch like this, kids will get up on the platform and jump off of it. People will step up on the platform and walk extremely close to you. I had to ask a kid to stop throwing sand by us because we were eating our dinner. It was a little chaotic. We were extremely patient and understand, but I could see some people being very upset and annoyed. After ordering, our food came out pretty quick. I started with the coconut grouper bites and they were phenomenal. Light breading, lightly sweat, and flaky. I had the Gulf Grilled Cobia and it was phenomenal. The fish was tender, flaky, and light. No fishiness at all. The sauce on the fish was also delightful. My husband and son had the fajita skewers and both enjoyed them. My husband also had the peel and eat shrimp and said they were amazing at The Gulf. Our drinks were okay. We had better drinks at other places during the week, but they weren't bad. We would return, but try to come on an off-time that wasn't so busy.

One thing that stood out was the gift shop at the entrance--it could definitely use a refresh. The dark corner filled with outdated beach clothing isn't the best first impression. We visited on a Tuesday around 7:00 p.m., and there was no wait. During our meal, only about four tables were occupied, so it was very quiet. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and checked on us frequently. The only odd part of the atmosphere was that cartoons were playing on the bar TVs even though there weren't any kids in the restaurant. For dinner, my husband ordered the surf and turf, and his steak was cooked perfectly. The baked potato, however, came with an overwhelming amount of melted cheese--enough for several potatoes. I ordered the blackened grouper. It was cooked well and had good flavor, but the fillet was very thin and wasn't as memorable as other grouper dishes I've had. The whipped sweet potatoes were sweeter than expected from the brown sugar, and the Brussels sprouts were heavily coated in a sweet balsamic glaze, leaving them soft instead of crispy. I think both sides would be better with less added sweetness to let the natural flavors shine. We finished with the Bananas Foster, which was delicious and a fun presentation. It came with three small scoops of vanilla ice cream and half a banana. Since the flaming presentation takes a little time, larger scoops of ice cream would hold up better and not be half melted by the time the fire goes out. We would come back to avoid wait at other restaurants but would try different side dishes next time.

Fire Cracker Shrimp Fried Rice - 9.2 I order this every time we visit. It is my favorite dish of all the places we visit each year at the beach. Gyoza - 7.0 Has a lot of filling which is good however, it isn't very seasoned or flavorful. They appeared to be fried however, not very crispy. We try gyoza at nearly any restaurant we visit that has it on the menu. Comparing this to other gyoza's, it's good but not great. Tuna Lovers Roll - 7.8 Roll was good but a little too spicy. The spice was expected obviously but still a tad too spicy. It also lacked the correct amount of sauce in my opinion. It also needed another ingredient or two to take it to the next level.
