Burritos the size of a half loaf of bread. In looking around Brookfield for a place to eat at before we hit up Galloping Ghost Arcade, every online comment pointed to trying Taco Azteca. My dad was down for some tacos so we hit up Taco Azteca before we got to gaming. I actually drove by the place, missing the turn to get there due to the strange parking lot situation. After a loop around the block, we pull in to the shared parking lot and headed inside. My dad was looking at the menu on the drive up and was waffling between a taco salad and a burrito. Once I placed my order for a beef burrito, my dad followed up with the same thing. We tried to find a place to sit but the place isn't too conducive to eating in with the few tables they had were either taken or dirty from the prior visitor. The staff was super nice and friendly in trying to get a table cleaned up for us. We ended up snagging one and were promptly served tortilla chips with some of the best guacamole I have ever had. I'm not big on guac as I find it to taste too similar to pumpkin (everyone I tell this looks at me like I am crazy) but this stuff was delicious and had a nice kick to it. My dad found the sauce in one of the bottles to be spicy as hell and passed on using more of it. I found them to be quite yummy but I love me some heat. We nearly devoured half the chips by the time the food came out. They were that good and the food came out that fast. I'm used to Mexican-sized burritos but these might take the cake. They were MASSIVE. I showed everyone I know and their eyes got huge when they saw how big it was. The fries that came with it were those with the little bits of batter on them and I knew they were going to be good. I knew we were in for a good time. How do you even eat something that big? Very slowly and somewhat messy, that's how. I devoured half my tasty fries to free up space on my plate just in case I made a mess. Luckily, this burrito held itself together rather nicely. The burrito was super tasty but I do feel like maybe a chicken or pork version would've been better. I like beef but wasn't in the mood for it when I ate my burrito. That's on me though for not paying attention when ordering and accidentally getting beef. My dad loved his burrito and was able to put the whole thing down since he didn't eat breakfast. I had breakfast so I was only able to put down a little over half. My bottomless pit of a stomach isn't so bottomless now that I am almost 40 (a week shy of 39 during this visit). Overall, Taco Azteca lived up to the hype and was worth every bite. I really wanted to get some of the guac to go. My only warning is that the parking lot is shared and can be tight as well as the seats inside. This place serves better for carry-out if it's busy like it was when we were there. read more

One standout employee, Jose, continually checked to ensure that we had everything we needed and addressed any issues we had promptly. The ambience was clean, with staff wearing gloves while cooking. My only con is it can be pricey but I get it - inflation so I won't dock them completely. My go to are steak taco dinners. Guacamole can be a hit/miss. When it's a hit, it's fantastic! Wow. I am so upset that I was fooled by 4.5 stars. This was by far the worst chicken burrito I've ever gotten in my LIFE. Taco Bell was 10 times better. Chipotle was 20 times better than this place. My order was wrong. Ambiance was terrible. Honestly the cook seemed off like maybe he was high I'm not sure. People that ordered after us that were clearly friends or family were served first. I am appalled. Steak taco was ok. Chicken quesadilla was edible at best. The chicken worked better on quesadilla than for burrito surprisingly. The cheese for the quesadilla was loaded it was horrible and not great quality. The chicken was a weird texture. It was oddly and finely chopped-- almost minced. I don't have the time to go in detail about just how bad this experience was. SAVE YOURSELF. It has no favor. Very low quality. Questionable cooking. Weird energy inside. First is there is an extra charge for using a credit card. Their prices don't justify it because they are already higher than others nearby. The food however is good. Not great but good. Their carne asada tastes very good but every time I go it has shrunk in size, the price has gone up and oh, did I tell you they charge extra for using a credit card? There should be a requirement that the extra charge for using credit should be placed large around the place. I'll still go there for carne asada when I'm near and have cash. I'll go to El Allegro Burrito on Mannheim where their tacos and burritos are better, bigger and they don't charge extra for credit cards. read more

Finally a great place for steak tacos in Brookfield. Steak is juicy and seasoned just right. So many taco places in town, but Taco Azteca makes you want to come back for more. If you dine in they give you a basket of chips and their infamous green salsa. I swear somedays that salsa is spicier than others. But it's good! Decided to try the sopes today. It was crispy, but really greasy. I know it's fried but at least let it sit on a paper towel to soak up some of that grease. Not a big fan of their rice. It could use more love. None the less I'd still be back to try other things. Staff is friendly and service is quick. If you're not there during the dinner rush. Restaurant is clean with a good amount of seating. I was really impressed with this place. Dining in, they start you with guacamole and chips while you wait for the order, and I really enjoyed them! They weren't just filler. The chips seemed fresh and crispy, and the guacamole seemed to be avocado mixed with lemon, cilantro, and jalapeno - more than a basic guacamole. I liked it so much, I actually placed an order for chips/guac. We got just individual tacos - asada, alambre (steak, pepper, bacon, and cheese), chorizo, and fish. The tacos are smaller, street taco sized, but it's a double tortilla (dipped in oil or lard and put on the griddle - yum), and there is a generous amount of meat. So many places make the asada as just chewy pieces of underseasoned steak - not so here. The steak was well seasoned and crisped up nicely. The fish was a single piece of fried fish - maybe could have been more generous, but the flavor was good. I really liked the alambre - different sort of flavor because of the bacon and pepper. They did have 4 people behind the counter plus one woman who acted as a waitress and counter helper They give you chips, sauces and salsa when you eat in. We tried Aztecs Taco on a Sunday and it was super busy. Every table was full, and there were lots of people inside ordering carry out. The service was friendly, but a little slow. It took about 20 minutes for a taco dinner and a burrito dinner. I think they're still getting into their groove, and I think they'll get there. I would recommend ordering ahead and picking your food up if you don't eat inside. The food was okay, but nothing spectacular. The rice and beans portion was a little small, but probably appropriate for one person. Just less than I'm used to getting at a Mexican restaurant. I had the chicken tacos. The chicken was well seasoned but mostly with salt and pepper was a little dry like it was precooked, and reheated. The rice and beans were tasty, and all the other ingredients were super fresh. My husband had the chicken burrito and he said it was alright. I might try it again, but would try the torta next time - it's featured on their menu so maybe that's their specialty. read more

Service was subpar, I walk in first time and no one greeted me, I had to walk up and they were like what do you want, I was like this is my first time and no one gave me any suggestions when I asked for some. And when I was eating no came to check in on if everything was going okay or if I needed something. Food wise, the chips were the best part of the meal. Salsa's were pretty spicy. I got the taco dinner with 2 pastor (pork) and 1 Carne Asada (steak) with cilantro and onion. For the side they offer beans and rice I got no beans but extra rice. Rice was unflavored, no seasoning and no salt. Steak had no flavor and it was like they diced it into bits. Hell yes!!! Awesome burrito Suizo! I'm wonderful Verde variety my favorite and not always easy to find. It was delicious and sizable and very inexpensive for the current state of inflation. I paid 13$ for a great burrito , came with salad guacamole in the side, chips and salsa auguacate also delicious and not easy to find. Ten he told me the burrito came with a can of soda! I asked if I could pay extra for a bottle of Mexican coke and yes for 1$ more. These guys were kind and and you could tell they cared about how we enjoyed our food. LOVE this place. My partner and I went here by accident on a chilly afternoon of antique mall hunting. This restaurant has the BEST birria taco in Chicagoland. First we were greeted with a kind welcome by our server Maria, and handed the BEST salsa and fresh totopos to start off-we were immediately sold lol. Our tacos were even better- Flavorful, juicy meat that has been slow cooked with love. My partner got carne asada tacos, and I got the quesabirria with consume and lemme tell you-We immediately made this our new taco spot. Our usual haunt for Tacos was closed, so I headed up to Taco Azteca on Ogden in Brookfield a bit after 7pm on Friday and business was booming! And we were not disappointed! I had a 'to go' order, mainly steak tacos and an El Pastor Tostada. The flavors were fantastic! In my opinion, the tacos were tastier, with more meat than our usual place! My son-in-law, a native of Mexico's Yucatan, knew what he wanted, and next time, I will get a tostada too! For $5 it was huge!!! Part of the fun waiting involved watching the guys rapidly put together meals! Seated customers were certainly enjoying the fare too. There were a smiling woman and a friendly, young man handling the billing process and I appreciated the time they took showing me my order before bagging. The parking lot was shared with the Dunkin next door. It was a bit warm as the grills are so near, but the 10 minute ride home found our food still warm and delicious, the steak tacos were not 'spicy' but really flavorful.
