My family and I have been to Casa Margarita many times in the past. The food then was always amazing and the service and drinks were top notch. We stopped in today after going to the movies and found that everything changed, and unfortunately not for the better. The food was absolutely bland (flautas and tacos were flavorless and sad, guacamole had no flavor, refried beans were watery (how does that happen), rice was both under- and overcooked). Drinks were served in plastic glassware, and we had to ask for flatware. Our area is experiencing a heatwave--93 degrees and a 105 degrees real feel--but that was cooler than inside the restaurant. There was no air-conditioning or air circulation at all. I also noted a layer of dust on several decorative statues inside the restaurant. Honestly I understand the ratings this restaurant has; the tacos were very bland and the meat tasted very burnt. Not only that, but somehow they were dry and chewy at the same time. The server never brought out the water we asked for and the fountain drinks are flat. We decided to try this place out on a whim, and the decor was the main reason we came into the restaurant, but honestly don't let that be a deciding factor for your visit. We had to wait for a while even though there was one other table seated, and we were told we couldn't sit in a certain section because it was "full". For the price, definitely not worth it. For the most part, we came to this Mexican restaurant in LaGrange to drink some, but also get something to eat. It made for a wise decision, because the drinks are definitely better than the food. Casa Margarita has tons of those to choose from, many in cool ass colors. Prices are pretty high on most items. The food is extremely overpriced and limited as well. Came in and got seated at the bar. It has a pretty small bar area in the corner. There's not a whole lot of room there but thankfully it wasn't busy yet. Atmosphere seems more authentic than typical Tex Mex places apparently. Of course we got margaritas. It's about $12 for the jumbo. Lots of cool flavors including banana, guava, and more. As for the food, not as good. Prices have more to do with it though. It's about $11 for an appetizer of guacamole. This is among the few items that are vegetarian. Many of the ones such as all the burritos and tacos have meat. There's not many other kinds of options. Great if coming to get margaritas. It's about the only reason to come though. Horrible service and food was not good at all! We had to wait for our waiter (which they were short staffed) took more than 30 minutes to a "reserved table" which we called ahead! Menus were so sticky and smelled! Pop had no gas, Margarita flight went down to water! It was a hot day and they had no AC on. Waiter was in a rush, didn't even provide suggestions on food. Dalia was our server which was unfortunate for us. She seemed nice in the beginning but we should have seen the red flags of S -L-O-W service. Just BAD. It started with us sitting at the table and realizing the table had not been wiped down. There were little bits of onion and salsa on the plastic tablecloth. Our server comes over and plops down menus and we asked her to wipe down the table. She promptly did but said she didn't know the table wasn't wiped. Ok perhaps not her fault. But the drinks took forever and a day to come out. She came back maybe 15 min later and apologized for the wait. Ok again maybe not her fault... maybe? They were just two of their menu margaritas (Classic Margarita and blue island margarita) and tasted like basic premix. All right I thought I will give her the benefit of the doubt. But it took her a while to come back to get our food order. Seemed she didn't manage her time properly. The restaurant itself was not busy. She had maybe three tables. The interior is very nicely decorated. I love the Mexican decor and the cute waterfall gazebo in the middle. The menu is large and the drinks are just average. The bathroom was not that clean. The food did come out quickly, I will give the kitchen that. And my food was quite good. I ordered the Fiesta enchiladas which came with three different sauces. A homemade rich Mole sauce which you could definitely taste the chocolate, a ranchero sauce (just meh) and a verde sauce (was ok). I ordered just cheese enchiladas so you can't really screw that up. My friend got a taco salad with shredded chicken which she said she liked. Everything went sideways when we didn't get any follow up from Dalia. She didn't come back ONCE to check on the food or to see if we wanted any more drinks. A missed upsell opportunity in my opinion. She was more interested in lingering and chatting in Spanish with the other two tables. We sat at our table for at least 20 minutes, it was obvious we were finished as we had put napkins on top of our plates. Other servers kept walking past us and it didn't seem so busy as other servers were walking around aimlessly. Not once did dalia come over to clear our plates. She finally came into the dining room with a food order and I waved at her and smiled to get her attention. She nodded and said she would be back. Yet we still were neglected! We waited another 10 minutes for our check. Just ridiculous. It was here that I decided this was not a good experience, she had really put a damper on our evening. Not sure what is the problem but she could use more customer service training. We should have sat outside as those folks seemed to be well attended. Just a real shame. read more

The worst taco i've ever had!!!! It was so dry and there was no salt and it didn't taste good at all! I told them i have a severe allergic problem and the server said the taco is not spicy but something in there was spicy! And the service was bad!!!! The server brought us some water and it was so warm and she didn't even refill the water not even one time!!!!! Or asked if we were doing okay!!!! I would pay and tip with cash. When I got home after paying with my debit card I noticed that the waitress had a little over doubled the amount I had written down as tip. That's extremely frustrating because there was no mention of doing this while I was still at the restaurant. it's so sneaky to do that behind the customers back, I'm never going to this specific location just because of this overcharge issue. The combo Fajitas I ordered look much better in the photo than than they were. The rice was dried out. I asked for well done - they were hot, like all Fajitas normally are, but they were not burnt on the ends like I prefer, especially peppers, There was so much oil it ruined the entire dish. You don't need to pour the entire pan with the oil on the plate. The refried beans were typical, and there was not enough guacamole, but yes, I could have ordered a side. The chips were not good at all. I heard the people at the table next to me talking about how great the salsa is - it was warm, but the flavor was not that good. I have never been so disgusted in my life! For 1 I came in with a migraine looking for something to eat to calm my headache before an hour and a half drive ahead of me. There was no one at the front. 1 lady started to take my order until a blonde young girl came over and they gave the responsibility over to her (later I found out her name was Stella). I had to explain 27 times that I wanted tacos with fajita chicken and not the pulled chicken. After I explained 27 times how I wanted the tacos she comes out and says my bill is $37. I said for 1 meal? She said for 2 meals you ordered a taco dinner and a fajita dinner. I kid you not I almost passed out because of the SEVERITY of incompetence I was facing at this point. I have never in my life experienced such a gruesome level of ineptitude in a professional environment. At any rate Griselda came and helped and I received my food. I look in the bag and there was no silverware. I walk back in and who do I see? Stella..... I asked her if I could please have some to go silverware ..... again I kid you not stood at the desk for 15 minutes because her attention span is that of a fruit fly. Finally the owner comes to the front and I ask her. 1 minute later, I have to go silverware. Not sure who daughter or cousin Stella is but she should probably be refrained from engaging with guests. After experiencing the worst service I've ever had in my life I get on the road and open my box to see some bull was placed in it. The meat was not fajita meat it was old food you give to your pit bulls as a treat. It was disgusting. They put me through a lot to just give me a box of mess needless to say I threw it in the nearest dumpster and wasted $20. My first time coming here to Casa Magarita and it was jammed packed for Cinco De Mayo. When we arrived the host told us our wait would be an hour just for a table. Me and My Girls just decided to sit at the bar and enjoy some margaritas. That was the whole point of us coming here on Saturday. Just to sit down and enjoy some drinks. The girl at the bar was attentive and outgoing. She let us try a few samples of margaritas before we made our decisions. The complimentary chips and salsa were fresh, warm and flavorful. We ordered a size of guacamole which was a bit too watery and had no flavor. The service was nice and the prices aren't bad. I think they have special deals on Tuesday's and Thursday's. FYI. Be sure to try out the Flight Of margarita's which you are able to get 4 different flavors. We ended up ordering the chicken and shrimp fajitas platter. The food was ok. We stopped by this place for lunch today and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. We shared the frozen margarita flight and the pork tamales. Both were really good - half the margaritas were a bit sour and half were sweet. I believe the flavors were strawberry, mango, blue island, lime, and swirl (regular with sangria). The tamales tasted just like ones I found on the street in Mexico - really authentic and great flavor. We enjoyed the chips bit weren't fans of the smoky-flavored warm salsa. They gave us a free dessert of fried tortillas covered in cinnamon and sugar and chocolate - ok, we would come back for these things alone. They were incredible. The best thing about this place, the water. Here is the rest: floors and table were sticky. We asked for table to be wiped again, yet it was still sticky. Queso Fundido was made with cheddar and some other tasteless cheese (Velveeta maybe?) not the standard Chihuahua cheese-and it was gross. Tacos were served with lettuce, tomato, cheese, since onion and cilantro was not an option. The worst part--two young men were swiping around dusters WHILE WE WERE EATING right above our table.
