We came here because of the coupon in the buy one booklet. We ended up spending way more than I expected but my son really liked the item he ordered. We ordered some tacos for my other son but they were very greasy. We may go back to try again, the front of house lady was nice and they have an updated payment system. The small dining room was clean, it's very fast food vibe though so if you're expecting some fancy sit down place this is not where you should go. The food was delicious, I had a torta. The pricing is pretty average for fast Mexican food, not too expensive but not a deal either. The inside of the restaurant is clean and modern but VERY SMALL. And they charge $2 for their pickled jalapeño-carrots; that's like charging extra for salsa! There's four small tables, very close together and one bar top. The food prep time is pretty fast, decent service, oh but if you pay with card/Apple pay, they have one of those annoying iPad checkouts that asks you for a tip. Happily surprised ! for a small place next to a 711, this place packs great flavors and lots of choices, from a burrito to a birria torta or smoked-salmon blue-corn tortilla taco! And yes ALL of our food was GREAT! I asked the lady what was her favorite meat and she smiled and said BIRRIA so i got a Torta and my husband a Birria Taco, a smoked salmon, and pulpo (octopus), we got chips and salsa to go and we were super happy! Can't wait to get food to go from there again! They do have 3 tables and one bar table against the window, so you can eat there but it is a small place and was quite busy when we went there Thursday around 5pm. I am giving them a 5 stars because i want you to try them for yourself! You will enjoy the food, is authentic and the stuff helpful. I don't review as many restaurants as I once did... but I had to review Taco Azul because I *need* for this place to succeed and then open a location closer to my house. My daughters & I stopped here when we were out in Lakeside. The sign & the name looked cute, it was lunchtime, and I'm always searching for that next amazing taco. You're welcome. Inside it's a pretty cute space, service is extremely friendly & helpful, & there's a good amount of seating (more than you'd think from the outside. But the tacos... so. good. We had only the blue corn tacos (there are street tacos too, we'll try those some day). My white whale is an excellent fish taco... and this place may have the best one in town. I'm not kidding. The fish is perfectly fried so that it's super crispy outside, but still tender inside and isn't greasy. That's hard to do and we got 2 fish tacos, both were perfect like this. Also the tortilla is high quality & the cabbage & sauce ratios are perfect. Then we got a shrimp taco... also excellent - also perfectly cooked. Then we tried a smoked tuna taco. I've never had this before, but I'll order it often now. I'm not even sure how to describe it... sort of like a homemade salmon jerky taco? You know, just get it & let me know what you think. One daughter got the veggie tacos and they are very good but really the seafood stuff was so good it would be hard to compare. I'd love to see them work on a more creative version... I wasn't sure what to expect before I stepped into the shop, but it does not disappoint. This isn't your usually strip mall taco shop. They have all the usual taco shop suspects. However their specialty is on traditional blue corn tacos with everything from pollo asada to lengua and cabeza. I was in the market for a breakfast burrito I ordered their ham breakfast burrito that has fries in it (it slaps). I'll definitely be back to try out their specialty items and housemade agua frescas. read more

Not sure how they have so many stars. The food is absolutely terrible and so is the salsa. :( we ordered a carne asada burrito, kids quesadilla and fries, rolled tacos and a pastor bowl. Only decent thing was the quesadillas; even the fries were soggy and gross. The guacamole and sour cream were just liquid. We were so looking forward to this place opening and so disappointed when it did. The food was terrible. It had a chemical taste to it, maybe from cleaning products used before opening. Called and placed a to go order at 5:20ish pm and came in around 5:45 and the lady had originally said oh it will take 15 minutes so im like okay cool. So i go in and i ask about my order and she just smiles so im lilke okay so imma just wait a little longer so than i asked im like im here waiting for my order and shes like ok. Than i wait another 20 minutes and im finally upset so im like so i go up and i give her my name and im like ive been waiting for a while and shes like oh its right here...and im like has it been sitting there?!? And shes like yes. So than i sit down to eat and the order was wrong. They forgot to put guacamole on the tacos so i went up and asked for some she gave us a very little. They are definitely understaffed here. I would advise to double orders no napkins where placed in the bag or any utensils that were needed. read more

Two orders of fries for $31 dollars, fries were either old or fried twice. Both my orders hardly had any meat on them, I had to ask for extra sour cream to be able to finish my dry fries. New place in El Cajon. This is my second time coming and both times I got disappointed. The meat has no flavor. I ordered a carne asada breakfast burrito and the meat was flavorless, my tortilla was crusted and the burrito was dry. The place is very clean and the customer service is great. The cashier Susan was so nice she kept apologizing to me about the wait as she clearly saw that I was frustrated. the cook looked like he didn't want to be there and took his time making my food. I would say give this place a try but if I do come back I hope the food is better .
