On entering there were a small number of booths and some tables. It was lunch time and I expected the place to be hopping, but patronage was steady. We were brought the requisite complimentary salsa and chips. Both were acceptable with the salsa having a slight kick. We ordered an unsweet tea and a raspberry tea. They looked to come from a fountain dispenser but I found it nicely brewed and was offered a refill. The menu was extensive with a lengthy list of lunch specials. I asked to substitute a green chicken chili enchilada for a cheese enchilada and was refused. This is the sole reason for taking away a star. I ended up with 2 cheese enchiladas with a sweet green chili sauce. The rice and beans were both very nice. The enchiladas were tasty. The total for both meals and 2 teas with tax was, wait for it... $21! Yes, just $21 so I ended up tipping just over 30%. The tip went into a tip jar I guess they will split. We were attended by 3 servers, all very nice and attentive. If not for the unwillingness to substitute cheese for chicken on the enchilada this little eatery could get 5 stars for everything else they did well. We left very satisfied and very glad we found a little place to patronize for Cinco de Mayo.

This was my 2nd time coming to Mad Chef!…read more The first time I came here was about 2 years ago (before doing yelp reviews). I was not very impressed. This time around I cannot complain! Their specials are all revolving around the Masters which was unique! We tried the Pimento, Fried Green Tomato, Chicken Sandwich (The Pimento Birdie). This was a delicious sandwich that just screams Georgia! We also tried the Madfather Chicken Sandwich! Pesto, Vodka Sauce, Mozzarella, this thing was outstanding! The fries are always a highlight here! We got the bucket (had a bigger group) and it came with 3 sauces. 1 tiny little knock on the fry bucket....the entire bucket was not filled with fries. The bottom of the fry bucket had about an inch or 2 of crinkled up paper..... All of the food was outstanding. The beer was good. Tons of space and seating. Very easy ordering process. Go up to the counter, tell them your table number, and your food arrives shortly! Prices are high here! Expect a larger number on your check if consuming both food and alcohol!

Big Sigh... An attempt to create something good, unsual, but…read morenot only falls short in doing so, the inflated prices were enough for you to rethink your groceries for the week. Maybe what I smelled upon walking inside Mad Chef, were hops; I'm unsure. There was a lingering, unpleasant scent (hay/old peanut shells, an earthy staleness). When my food arrived, the scent dissipated. I purposely took a picture of the fish, on my fried fish sandwich, to illustrate what $17 and some change, looks like - very thin. The fish fry was tasty, slightly undercooked, soft crusted and soft bun, fresh condiments and those "pickles" were stellar. They were the best part of my meal. I would seriously purchase a jar of those pickles. Was wary of how hot honey would mesh with a pepperoni pizza, but surprisingly, the sweet heat and the savoriness of the pepperonis, worked well together. The only miss and it's a pretty big "miss," was the paper thin, tasteless crust, acting only as a vehicle to hold the toppings. Suggest you improve the crust and then, you'll have a stellar pie. Loved the peach bread pudding with brown sugar ice cream, but once again, for the price; the portion was skimpy. Liked the touch of homemade whipped cream, but it was overly whipped (stiff and tasteless), making it actually, impalatable.

This one is laid out better for a crowd, and it handled a standing-room-only event surprisingly well. Because I was with a big group, the usual service details didn't really apply, but the bar staff kept things moving. I didn't hear anyone complaining about drink waits beyond what you'd expect with a packed mixer where people are constantly circulating and the bar area is full of conversations. The staff stayed friendly and didn't seem bothered by the volume. What stood out most was how consistently the team was cleaning and clearing. Glasses and empties never piled up. Even in spots that weren't obvious from the bar, staff were coming through regularly and picking things up quickly. With that many people in the space, that level of attention was noticeable. The place stayed clean the whole time. It was loud, but that was the group, not the venue. Parking was easy since it's in a shopping center, and getting in and out was straightforward. I didn't try the food, but it's a chain, so I assume it's consistent with other locations. Overall, I wouldn't dissuade anyone from going, and I'd go back if I were in the area and in the mood for a drink or a casual sports-bar type meal.

We were in more of a dining room mood but we weren't asked for our opinion and were taken to a high 2-person table in what we assumed was the pizzeria. I have a temperamental back, so these chairs were not going to work for me, so we asked to be relocated to a nicer table. We were shown to another table right away. Both the dining room and pizzeria were nearly full, and hopping with energy! Our expectations were high! Any restaurant that serves Guinness beer on tap earns a bonus star from me! Unfortunately, the flavor was a little off and I get the impression that not too many customers drink the Guinness. It struck me as beer that was a little past its expiration date. Thankfully our food was very good. Everything had a distinctive and agreeable flavor. Even the bread and olive oil had us cutting extra slices. I ordered the quattro formatti pizza and added bacon. It was as unique and tasty as it sounds. If you look closely at the picture you'll see that someone took a bite before I had a chance to photograph it. But apart from that, notice all the different colors and textures, which made for a nice, lively pizza. In the other photo you can see the chicken parmigiana, which they agreed to substitute Alfredo sauce instead of marinara. That was a delicious dish as well! We ended up way too full for dessert!! It's too bad because there were lots of interesting options to choose from. If we ever find ourselves in Mount Joy again we'll surely consider coming here again. The only thing that left a bad taste was the old-tasting beer.

You would think a restaurant would bring the appetizers out first but no that's not what happened they brought the appetizers with the main meal. That was ridiculous and should never have happened. They were not busy whatsoever. Our waitress was also not very good, again no one in there at all that we saw. She seemed more annoyed with having to wait on us. Very disappointed. My sandwich was great. Calamari was just ok! Not horrible just ok. Boneless wings were not good at all, hard and lacked sauce. Cheese steak that my other half order was strange more like chopped burger than steak! Disappointing visit will be quite a while before we return!!!
