The grilled shrimp tacos hardly had any shrimp (or any filling for that matter) in them and the shrimp were very tiny with an overly sweet and gooey chili sauce on them. The atmosphere is modern, not trying to look like Tijuana, with clear background music that isn't so loud that I couldn't hear people across the bar talking. What I'm going to say might sound contradictory. My earlier meal was closer to the Mexican food I was used to in Southern California. But not exceptional. As a vegetarian, I usually start with cheese enchiladas as a way to judge a Mexican restaurant. The service was excellent, and they are definitely vegetarian friendly. Unlike "genuine" Mexican food, their refried beans are vegetarian, without the traditional lard. Their Spanish rice isn't vegetarian friendly (chicken stock used) but they have a vegetarian alternative rice. When they cook for a vegetarian, they use a different grill, so your food isn't cooked in meat grease. I know this because Jake, who served me, covered it all as soon as I mentioned that I was vegetarian. When the food arrived it looked great, and it tasted great as well. If you're looking for genuine Mexican with lard in the beans, this might not be the best local option. But I really enjoyed my meal here, and recommend it highly!
