Meeting East Coast friends for lunch, we picked Irwin, PA as the half-way point between Toledo and Philadelphia, and Acapulco Mexican Restaurant & Bar as Yelp's highest rated Mexican restaurant in the area. Arriving a few minutes before their Sunday opening time, we were pleasantly surprised when the employee cleaning the glass on the front door smiled and waved at us to come inside. Décor in the restaurant was bright and festive, and we were quickly shown to a table across the very clean dining room. Perusing the expansive menu, our party of three ordered the Lunch #13, Lunch Fajita Burrito, and Lunch Chimichanga de Camaron with two waters and an iced tea. Before tax and tip, our bill came out to $44.50, which definitely felt pricy for lunch. However the kitchen was clearly raring to go, because our orders were soon delivered piping hot to our table! My wife and son both said their meals were very good, with my son adding that the fajita vegetables in his burrito were grilled to perfection. Likewise I found my Chimichanga de Camaron to be very good, and I was pleasantly surprised at how large and juicy the shrimp were. My husband and I have been to Acapulco many times. The food and service have always been very good. My husband decided he wanted to have dinner there for his birthday. The food was good and our server was excellent. When the server brought our check, our total was $64. We gave our server a $50 gift card (purchased 5 weeks ago) and $30 in cash. Shortly thereafter, the manager came to our table and told us they had changed system and he couldn't get their new system to accept our gift card. He said the system "should be"repaired in the future, but he didn't know when and we "should be" able to use our gift card then. Should be, really? That statement didn't make us feel confident that we would ever be able to use the gift card. He insisted we would have to provide a different form of payment and use the gift card another time. We told him the system problem was his issue to handle, not ours and he would have to figure it out. He kept insisting we would have to pay another way but we stood our ground. He was extremely unhappy but our check was paid in full since he had our $50 gift card along with $30 cash to cover the rest of the check and a tip for our server. How he entered the transaction in his system was his issue to deal with, not ours. My favorite Mexican restaurant in the area by far!! The margaritas are always on point. And one of our favorites is a Friday afternoon pitcher of pina coladas!! Everything I've had has been delicious, but my favorite thing on the menu is the pollo con crema. It is nice and creamy and I always add some of the hot sauce on the table to it for a little kick! The service is always quick and friendly. It's just a nice well priced place and we know we always have the option of a quick in and out meal or we can sit and enjoy ourselves without feeling rushed. Stopped here with my parents on our road trip to D.C. It's right in a strip mall, so it looks small from the outside but there's plenty of space inside and we were seated quickly. We came at 8:30pm on a Tuesday night but there was a decent amount of people despite that the restaurant closes at 9pm. And they took good care of us despite coming so close to closing time. I had a Pina Colada frozen margarita because who doesn't need that after being in the car with their parents for 8 hours? We all shared chips and salsa which was good but the queso could use more spice. For dinner I had the chimichanga and rice, and my parents split an order of fajitas. I've been waiting to try this place for a few years and finally got around to it today. The inside is beautiful and very clean. I was seatly quicky and was so excited to try out the food. However that changed quickly as soon as i saw the menu. They prices are absurd! I had contemplated leaving since it was so expensive. However, I decided that since the reviews were good I would splurge today on lunch, which was the wrong choice. I ordered a bean burrito for 13$ from the lunch menu. When it arrives i was in shock. The "burrito" was none less than a regular cold taco shell with some very wateey beans slapped inside. It was topped with a teaspoon of sour cream and a speinkle of lettuce. I could not believe my eyes. So if that is the burrito, then what is the taco...?? You could get a much larger (tasiter and cheaper too) burrito at taco bell. To add to the small portion, the food was a far cry from the best.. The dish itself was very, very, VERY bland. It tasted like an uncooked mush. I took a few bite and it even made my stomach hurt. (10 hours later and it still is...) my daughter got rice and fries which were barely edible also. I also noticed in my water some kind of black spec that seemed to be inside of the ice. Ugh. The waiter came back after a while and asked if we wanted boxes. I told him no, no, no boxes it wasn't good and he just took the 90% full dishes away and left the check. I most definitely will not be back. If your in the area and hungry, I suggest confortis across the street. I've never had a bad meal there. read more

Authentic Mexican food in North Huntington?? Look no further, Acapulco has it covered. Conveniently located off the PA turnpike, Acapulco offered authentic Mexican, with excellent service and selection at a very reasonable price. Lunch specials are excellent and just the right size. They also offer long daily happy hour each day with margarita and beer specials. Personally I don't think you can get a better beer deal in North Huntington - in both quality and price. Look for the ice cold 27oz Modelo in the pictures. While the restaurant can get busy on Friday and Saturday nights the wait is never too long. Personal favorites of mine include the tacos and fajitas. Also the queso dip as an add on to the complimentary chips is a sure win. If you live in the North Huntington area or are passing through, be sure to put Acupulco on your list. read more

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants around. Whether ordering take-out or eating in, the service is always super fast and friendly. I have never had anything here that I didn't like. The portions are big and prices reasonable. I really can't add much that someone else hasn't already written. My only issue is that I really enjoyed their previous location on Route 30, when it was Los Campesinos. I just really like the atmosphere of the place, even if it was a little campy and crowded. The new location is definitely much roomier and has a lot more seating, but I feel like it lost something in the move. Just my personal opinion, I'd still recommend Acapulco to anyone! read more

So, we are new to the area and looking for a good Mexican restaurant. This place did not disappoint! The food is excellent! My son and I shared the parrillada Mexicana. It has chorizo, carnitas, steak, chicken and shrimp along w veggies. The flavor was amazing. The chorizo had the best flavor of any I've had! There was enough to even box some for later. My husband had the suiza enchiladas. It came with four chicken breast enchiladas with a green sauce that had good kick to it! We opted for desserts. The flaun was heavenly and the cheesecake chimichangas were also delicious. For those looking for a good drink, they make a killer michilada!! Our server, Celeste, and was fast and super friendly.
