I really wanted to support a local family-owned business, but it's hard to do that when they're…read moreDISHONEST and SHADY about their prices. It's not about the amount, it's about the PRINCIPLE. Let me explain... Lupita's Cocina serves authentic and homemade Mexican cuisine with fresh ingredients made in-house daily. They just opened this past January. They operate as take-out only, so you can either do pick-up or delivery. You can call your order in or order through one of their third-party systems. I noticed that the menu posted on their website didn't match what was posted on DoorDash or UberEats. There were different menu items on each platform. They should fix that. I recommend calling and ordering directly from the restaurant because we all know third parties jack up the prices with their extra fees... I called to place my order and got tacos (4 per order for $11.99), churro bites with bavarian cream ($3.25), and horchata (20 oz for $3.99). It was ready within 15-20 minutes. I drove over and found street parking right up front. There's really not much of an ambiance. As soon as you walk in, you'll see just a counter and a few metal chairs to the side. Now here's where things went downhill. When the cashier rang me up, the price was a couple dollars more than what I calculated. I did take taxes into account, but there's still no way that the difference in pricing could be that much. Turns out that they charge different prices than what's posted on their website... That's very dishonest. How are you going to be okay with charging customers a different price than what's posted? On top of that, they also have a digital menu in store WITH NO PRICES LISTED (photo attached)... Very sus. I asked the cashier for a physical copy of the menu, and she said "they don't have them yet". Very odd... I took the L and paid in cash since they have a 3% credit card surcharge. No, I didn't tip. I already had a bad taste in my mouth, but to make matters worse, I realized that she forgot to give me my horchata drink. Good thing I checked my bag before I left. I walked back in and asked for it. The website states it's $3.99 for a 20 oz. She handed me a horchata that looked like it was either in a 8 or 10 oz cup. DEFINITELY NOT 20 oz. It wasn't even filled to the top (photo attached). So why charge for a larger size only to give customers a size that is half of it? More dishonesty... To make matters even more worse, the horchata was completely watered down. As for the food? The tacos were actually pretty tasty, but not the best I've ever had. I ordered two with chicken tinga and two with al pastor. There was a good portion of meat topped with onion and cilantro. The al pastor could have been more tangy/sweet and the chicken tinga could have been more smoky/spicy. The churro bites came in a small cup. Crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. I didn't care for the bavarian cream filling; it didn't add anything to the overall flavor. Never coming back. If you decide to order from here, just be very careful of their shady pricing. Don't be surprised if you spend more than expected.

I will copy and paste this review across the Park Ridge and Mahwah locations so emphasize my appreciate for their consistency in providing great Mexican food. If you are consistently performing, Linguini will take care of you. Like I've taken care of many others. I will bring you to the top with me. If you backstab me. Oh if you come for me at the top, you will reach an abyss so deep you may end up digging to China. Don't test me. I'm not that guy. Anyways, I've tried a lot from Azteca. Most of what they've got is a 4/4.5 out of 5 but I'm rounding up for the full experience. Phenomenal price point. Variety of food that all comes out well. Performs well in restaurant and when the food travels. Friendly staff. And local business of which I support. I suffer from GGS - Good Guy Syndrome, sorry not sorry. My motha, bless her soul. I legit mean bless her soul. Be nice. Pray. Bow down to her. She doesn't eat much food but she even loved the taco salad here so much that she asked to go again. So much protein, so well seasoned. Just as their other options showcase as well. My personal favs are the Kash Burrito and the, what I'd call "trademark" Cod Burrito. Never have seen it elsewhere like this. The wrap is toasted wonderfully, great rice, great salsa. I mean this place just does it real well. I've had tacos, appetizers, desserts. Never let down. El Azteca is consistently good. Constantly pushing out quality product. Is it the best Mexican I've had? No. But it's the most underrated. Being a consistent 4, makes you a five in my books. It's like that girl that's occasionally a 6 or occasionally an 9... you can't bring her home. But that girl that's consistently a 7 or an 8? You let her meet the fam. I don't where I'm going with this one. All I'll say is STOP. Stop going to Chipotle, Bubbakoo's, etc. when you could be supporting a better quality and friendlier priced location in El Azteca. Thank you in advance. I will be watching - LB.

The lengua taco was good, chopped but identifiable, and the tripa was A+ being a bit crunchy and flavorful. All of the tacos came topped the same with onions and cilantro (which was bearable to me and my cilantro gene). The tacos come with limes, a charred onion, and house sauces- the red is less spicy than the green. The sabado y domingo portion of the menu is just things that are available on Saturday and Sunday, such as the barbacoa de chivo, tamales, caldo de pensa, the foods that take time. I would have been tempted but then... tacos. On another weekend visit I would for sure want to try the barbacoa. I wasn't sure if it would be just a counter or not but there are a number of large tables in their space, and the staff will bring the food to you once you order. It's a ultilarian place trying to feed their people on the cheaper side while still giving them tasty food. Parking - it's all street. Tuck in your side mirrors. The streets are narrow. They take card and cash, but the prices are not listed on the menu.
