There are a lot of good reasons to eat at a 5 Guys. I have had their food in several towns across the USA and even in Stuttgart, Germany. They make a good, always juicy burger and easily the best freshly-made fries around. Be sure to read the menu. You have to tell the counter person what you want on your order ... cheese, catsup, mustard, onions, mushrooms... plus, you must order one or two Pattie's! Overall, it's a good burger and fries lunch with a beverage for under $15. My friend always gets a milk shape and called them good, but not the best. He's a real ice cream connoisseur... But this turns out to be a DOUBLE Hamburger. If you look down to item 5 it says "Little Hamburger" 7,59, which you may think is for kids. But that is the Regular single burger., which is what you would expect. So the top item should say "Double Hamburger" or "Hamburgers" . Yes, my friends the burger wars have begun with people taking sides over who reigns supreme. For me and my friends the competitors are the usual suspects, Habit, Smashburger, Bobby Flay and the correct answer, Five Guys. Now, in interest of full disclosure, we're not going to include the so called premium burger joints, Bareburger, Zinburger, Boomburger and others. And we're also not going to talk about strictly fast food places like Wendy's, McDonalds and Burger King. That's an entire different argument. We're only going to talk about specialty burger's and for my money there is literally nothing that comes close to Five Guys. Adding to their cred are one of the best french fries I've ever had and boxes and boxes of free peanuts in the shell available for the taking. Good fries are awesome in and of themselves but when you serve them in gargantuan portions in paper bags, OMG! I understand that their hand spun shakes are also great but I've never had them. On the flip side all of this deliciousness does come at a hefty price and we're not talking money here. The fat and sodium content of a burger and small fries alone could raise the blood pressure of a small city but every once in a while you have to do what you have to do and splurge. The nice thing about chains is you know what to expect especially when you are traveling. When we travel we like to use yelp and help steer us to a cool place to eat. But, when we are on a long distance road trip finding something good quick and easy is not always easy unless it's a chain. People ranted and raved and I gave it two tries but both times the food was disgustingly greasy (especially the fries) and the taste wasn't really all that good. There are times when you just want guaranteed consistency. Five guys is it. We don't really go to gourmet burger spots...gourmet burgers are one of the things we like to do at home. But when we want a burger, eat at home, not cook, and know we are going to be happy, we go here. A good variety of toppings and condiments. Fries are a bit oily, but we dump them in a bowl with paper towels and in a couple seconds get the access off...great fries. They keep bottles of malt vinegar on the counter (and to-go cups), first time I tried dipping fries in malt vinegar was here...great taste. I never ate in here and wouldn't at any location. The place is lit up with bright fluorescent lighting. It didn't affect my rating because I don't go here to eat in. Having a meal under fluorescent lighting is terrible. Tip: There is a salad works a couple doors down if there are folks in a party that aren't into the fast food burger. Tip: First time in go for the "little" hamburger or cheeseburger (and bacon varieties). There is plenty of a meal especially if you load it up and add fries. A regular burger is a big burger. Tip: Keep the foil wrapper on it (like you would with a gyro) if you load it up and take the foil off it will be all over the place quickly. read more

Every single time they've messed up my order or put something on it I didn't want or didn't give something I did.. to the point where I told them my son was allergic to some things just so he didn't reject another burger soaked by a tomato that wasn't asked for.. i thought that way they would put more care into making it but even telling them he was allergic they still slapped a tomato on his burger again. I tried Five Guys over five years ago, when I lived briefly down the street from their original Alexandria, VA location. Gone are the peanut shells all over the floor. This location is very clean. $5.69 for just a cheeseburger? Can you really justify that? Is it any better, no. Am I impressed, or wowed by the food? No. In fact, I asked for grilled onions and what I got was diced raw onions. I am giving up on Five Guys. For me, it is not good food. Love this location. Very clean. Great staff. Great food. Really like that they have those new coke machines. Many more options. Some of the best burgers I ever had. Even though it's a fast food joint, they have really high quality food. I like that they tell you where their potatoes come from. Many people may complain about the greasiness of the food... so don't come if it bothers you. That's part of going to a fast food joint. My favorite part of this place has to be the fries. They give you so many. You don't need more than one large fry for two people. I've definitely eaten a whole large by myself but on a normal day one for two people is enough.
