I don't know what's going on here but this Taco Bell has issues. I am not alone on this since their star rating is in the toilet. I thought I would try them out since it's fast food and ratings are usually low anyway. Food was usual Taco Bell and service was just fine but the lobby is a pig sty. Probably the most disgusting Taco Bell I've ever been too. There was not a clean spot inside anywhere. The bathroom was filthy and the main eating area looked like it hadn't been cleaned in days. Trash all over the floor and old, sticky spills on most tables and counters. The service was extremely slow and the employees were not in the least bit friendly. We had to ask for someone to take our order when the line at the kiosks got so bad it was almost out the door. They forgot all our drinks as well as the guests who ordered after us. My gf and I went here because we just came from the forest train tour and this was the closest Taco Bell location. This location has interesting characters including this kindly old couple. They were connecting with the Taco Bell employee over their shared rage over Chipotle removing their green sauce from the menu. The employee looked like she knew the couple from multiple previous visits. She then gave them some kind of free sauce to which the woman responded: "My God, thank heavens!" Then they took about 15-20 sauce packets. I'm not sure if they were mild, medium or spicy. They seemed to be frequent visitors to this Taco Bell. They were probably retired and viewed this Taco Bell as a comfortable place to enjoy Americanized Mexican food, and to just be listened to. They had some other interesting thoughts that I cannot recall at this time. Now, onto the food: I got the pintos and cheese with no cheese. I liked it a lot, although the first time it had a little cheese. They were very nice and fixed it quickly. My gf got the Mexican pizza and bean burrito. This location is very poorly managed compared to other Taco Bells, and that sucks because it's the closest one to Ben Lomond, and rarely do I want it enough to drive half an hour to a Santa Cruz location. If you don't end up with something gross & old, your order is way wrong. They're better than a few years ago, but not by much. Also, the last several times I've gone, they've been advertising some new drink & when I try to order it, their "machine is broken". It's not like I'm talking about within a week. She comes to the window and drops an f bomb about how inconvenient it is that she has to change her gloves because she is touching money. Then she counts my change and hands me a handful of coins. She decides to argue with me about the change and since I can't prove anything because she already put it in the register, I decide to let it go. Pulling up to the window I paid for my drink and the clerk handed me my drink - that's when I got angry!! Giggling as they handed me my drink I paused and looked at the cup before taking it into my car. Dripping down the side was liquid and looking at the dome top of the drink I saw freeze pushing up over the rim. Just HOLDING the cup caused more of the drink to leak an drip down the sides. Here is the thing. I really like Taco Bell. I live in this town and I get it. It's small. It's expensive to live in and if you don't live here then working later probably isn't great. When they are open the food is not bad. I'd say good more often than not, though, they do run into weird problems every once and a while...like, being outta of taco shells, or beans. Um... anyway, my main issue is that they don't have regular hours. It's Taco Bell. How can they not have normal business hours? They close early/open late every week. We utilized the drive thru, so cant speak on the cleanliness of the restaurant. However. It looks well maintained from the outside. The employee working the order box and pick up window was courteous and helpful. My request for a modification was accommodated and adequately labeled to differentiate it from my daughters meal. All I can say is OH WOW. This places hires a bunch of D O P E S. How hard is working at Taco Bell people? It's like all the employees are in another world or dimension perhaps. They are sooooooooooooo S L O W. No one is friendly at all. The food was made sloppy with stuff hanging over the edge and coming out the wrapper.
