I'm a person who loves good food and can be very adventurous in my endeavors. I found the store front of the restaurant to be confusing but still I marched on. Menu is on a chalk board but found the server to be a bit of a militant as we were rushed to order. Our server looks super causal. *Clearly the vibe is chill*. Chips and salsa were brought promptly to our table followed shortly after by the food. The food was presented well and hot. The combo of toppings were odd. I've never eaten such terrible food. I'm all for supporting local businesses but just can't get behind this place. Imagine taking a cold tortilla, adding shredded cheddar cheese, some cold "taco meat" with absolutely no flavor, and then adding some browning shredded lettuce. That's what we got I'd love to say we'll give it another shot, but I just cannot stomach the thought of eating here again. We got it to go and ended up throwing all of our food away after a few bites. They seemed less than helpful service-wise when we picked it up. So we didn't even want to call and explain. Our family loves this place so much. It is cozy, has delicious food, and everyone is unbelievably welcoming and kind. I'll be the first to admit that my family isn't the most traditional, and if you're the type of parent that isn't cool with "artistic expression" mostly in the form of college kids drawing roosters all over the walls this may not be your visual preference for a sit down family dinner. Usually there is an arcade game that is free to play and my kiddos focus on that more than anything. The best part is locals will bring their puppers to hang and usually everyone is fine with you petting them. I would recommend this place to anyone. It's truly a gem, and one of a kind. Stopped in late on a weeknight for a social drink with friends. My first time here, but I LOVED it. Upon walking in, you find a cozy bar area, and a nice pool table. On this particular night, the patio was open and a nice fire was going. We stepped up to the bar to order our drinks and went outside. Several others were sitting by the fire, we asked to join. This place is what I would call a place for regulars, but they made me feel so welcome, it was like I was back home. After good conversation, Taco Dan himself joined the seating around the pit and again great conversation ensued. We are from Southern California where we thought was home of the best fish tacos in the world until we showed up at Taco Dan's in Granville, Ohio. The food is just amazing. It's made from scratch so don't go thinking you can get a quick taco - this is so far from fast food but we'll worth the wait. The best think is that while you wait you are in the company of Dan and Barb - the very friendly owners who work the kitchen and the bar while chatting up the friendly patrons. Dan's is located in what was an old Granville home so it feels like home. The "living room" has a few tables and the "dining room" has a full-sized pool table (no cost to play from what I could tell). If you make it to Granville Village, take a short stroll off of Broadway and enjoy tacos at Taco Dan's! read more

Taco Dans is a very unique Mexican restaurant in Granville. It's located inside a converted old house. There's a thrift shop sharing the space with it. It may be hard to find because it's not obvious to see, except for the small sign that's out front. The menu isn't big but it's fresh and not too expensive, and the staff is so chillax here. I ordered the vegetable tacos. It's usually about $8 which is more than fast food Mexican like shit, but they were a good size and came with lots of fillings. The margaritas are a must try. It didn't take all that long to get the food. The service improves of course when it's not busy. It's not a big space at all, so if you're there when it's busy you may have to be squished next to those at another table. The staff is fairly laid back here. It's kind of a come in and don't give a fuck kind of place. This fits in well with the college town. I would recommend a visit at Taco Dans if you're in Granville. It's probably the best Mexican restaurant in town. The margaritas and tacos are good for the price, and the staff is great as well. read more

Chill spot. Divey, in the sense of relaxing. Pool table at the front, bar is through what might have been the living room, small kitchen with window for ordering Dan's offerings back in that nook. I can see how many consider this eatery a "college hangout", it is in Granville, which is largely supported by Denison University. So, the statement is somewhat expected. I was headed to another establishment for an early dinner, so it was nice to stop by and talk with one of the kitchen crew. I was treated to a sample of TD's guacamole. Ok Gwen, so. What's the big deal! TD's guacamole is made to order. MADE. TO. ORDER. No old brownish tones. No souring tastes. Fresh scooped avocado, fresh squeezed lemon juice, some paprika? amongst other dashes. A little more salt? would have made me a complete follower when the Red Sea parts. Good chips, too. Thin - no one likes the concession stand nacho chips anymore, America! Im starting in kinda late, when it comes to getting to know Granville. Last time my husband and I were here, we split an order of nachos, and they were out of this world. This place is definitely nothing to look at, but it's certainly interesting. It's in a very old, worn out house. As a matter of fact I think everything in the house is old and worn out. But I think you will feel that just makes the place interesting, if new and fancy is not that important to you. Here's what seems to be important to the people running the place: 1. Making good food (by hand) 2. Being friendly We started out this time with an order of chips and the medium (tomato) salsa. Delicious salsa, with lots of fresh garlic. My husband ordered a chicken chimmichamga and I ordered a chicken quesadilla. Warning... big portions, enough to share. My husband gives his chimmichanga four stars only because he prefers his with queso on top and this didn't come that way. My quesadilla was excellent, with very tender chicken. A little grimy, but full of good vibes. This is a divey taco spot that offers a full bar, a couple of TVs and a quirky 'used-to-be-a-house' environment. We went with margaritas, which were refreshing and thankfully not made with artificial mixers. The made to order guacamole was pretty tasty and the chips are fried in coconut oil, which was noticeable but not in a bad way. Great prices, great quality, and service with a smile as you watch them make the food right in front of you - which helps throw any initial health code concerns out the window, considering the small seating area is surrounded by fur coats and used novels. Taco Dan's is a unique spot in Granville. Located in a college town, this hole in the wall establishment offers Mexican eats-- in a thrift store. While the food was decent, the "relaxed" attitude of the staff was off-putting & slightly frustrating. An eclectic collage highlighted the business' difficulty obtaining a liquor license, & subsequently were sued by the city of Granville for violating their business license. This "memorabilia" would lead one to think that the proprietors are proud of their blatant defiance of the town of Granville's laws. In summary, if you're into taco shops, in thrift stores, run by hippies- this is the place for you. If not, don't go. The end. read more

I love tequila The restaurant is located in a house that also holds a secondhand clothing store called Footloose. The food here has always been good for me and the prices are pretty reasonable and I love the drinks. The price for pitchers is fantastic, but watch out for the margaritas because they are very strong. I would say never have more than 2 glasses cause that's all you're going to need. The people who work Taco Dan's are incredibly nice and are fun to talk to which definitely makes every dining experience more fun than the last. So go check it out! read more

Stopped in at Taco Dans on a Tuesday afternoon and we were the only people in the place. It had this feeling like we just missed a cataclysmic party, like an eruption of Mount Vesuvius but with a super chill vibe like, "Yeah, that happened, but how about a couple of taco?" Loved it. Food that should be fresh was fresh and the food that should be hot was hot. It definitely doesn't fit into the quaint downtown Granville scene which makes it the perfect fit for the quaint downtown Granville scene. Taco Dans is exactly what you expect Taco Dans to be. My daughter told me about Taco Dans...the menu, the food, the beer, the sevice...in the middle of Granville and that I MUST go. Well, when the big power outage hit the East coast, I found myself and about eight others stranded up at Denison University. We couldn't get off the campus because of drowned power lines and we finally figured out a way into town. It took a while to get there, No other place in Granville was open. So, we took a chance on TDs. It might have been one of the best decisions of my life. Barb must have been reading her Scripture as she welcomed the homeless, the hungry and the thirsty. They hooked up the last "F---ing Generator in Granville" and kept the beer cold and the gas stoves a burning. We had a great meal of Mexican food, various beers and, by far, the most tequila-ed margaritas I have ever tasted. In the midst of trying to figure out how to get back home, TDs and Barb provided us a little taste of compassion and community. I return every year to Denison for a discus camp in June and Taco Dans is going to be my "go to" place from now on. The food and service is excellent and the beer prices are so good, it is dangerous. Can't get over how much I love this place. It's pretty out of my way living in Columbus, but I typically will get a group of friends together for a night spend thrifting, drinking, and taco-ing. The owners are so friendly and hilarious, even gave us good recommendations for other bars in the neighborhood if we wanted to keep our party going ;). I've got some great thrift finds there any they are always willing to haggle. The remodel looks great and I'm excited to see what It looks like with the upstairs shop re-opened. Food is good. Nothing spectacular, and sometimes a little slow. But this place has so much character that I've never minded.
