I previously gave Taco Giro 5 stars, but after two consecutive bad experiences, I won't be returning. The service has become consistently poor. When you walk in, someone might glance your way but not greet or seat you right away--they'll usually finish a conversation first. I love their rice and bean dip, but it's not worth being ignored, waiting ages for someone to take your order, or having that order come out wrong and then being treated rudely when you point it out. They advertise a military discount but failed to apply it on both of our last visits. When we asked the second time, they made us wait an unusually long time, then only applied it to one plate--even though multiple veterans were present. On our most recent visit, my order arrived incorrect again, and when I politely mentioned it, the server tried to blame me despite the entire table confirming what I'd actually ordered. The attitude that followed sealed the decision for me. The food is good, but the service and attitude have gotten too unpleasant to justify coming back. read more

With a deep menu of lots of authentic Mexican favorites, we were excited to try Taco Giro. Tucked into a strip mall, the restaurant is fairly large and there were only two other tables and some people sitting at the bar at 5p on a Sunday evening. We were seated promptly by a friendly server and ordered a house and a Cadillac margarita. The drinks were large, but very sweet and not very strong at all. They offered chips and salsa which were good, and the rest of our meal was good, but unremarkable. Service was a little slow and not terribly responsive, but since this is close to home we will definitely give Taco Giro another shot! read more

First timers to Taco Giro and plan on returning. We frequented the restaurant formerly named Casa Sanchez for years. The new Giro team welcomed us with a smile and seated us promptly. This is newly opened in our area. We were curious, we have seen the menu online and everything looked good, so we tried... Everyone is welcoming, as soon as we sat down staff had given us the menus and chips and salsa. Then someone came to our table to ask what we want to drink. Way too fast for me, cause I haven't looked into the menu yet! I found it really funny cause I asked our server a question about an entree on the menu and she responded, I don't know, that made me second guess her ability as our server...I wonder how they hire and train their employees?? Don't get me wrong but their food is okay, and they give a pretty good portion. A little pricey and they charge a fee if you use your credit card. Inside is still clean and new. Not too cramped with tables and chairs. They really have a big menu, and it makes it hard to decide. This could be a good place to earn and dine and also good for take aways. read more

Everything went well. Excellent service, excellent food and ambience. We were 7 ladies celebrating 3 of our October birthdays. Abby was our server and she was excellent. I've read so many crazy reviews about this place, so we had to try it out. The avocado omelette I had was pretty good, I think enjoyed it. The portion was decent, I I took half of it home. The chorizo omelet wasn't bad either, it wasn't spicy enough for my husband but good enough for me cause I don't like spicy food. I would like to go back and try other things on the menu. Most of the reviews were about service and it's true, the servers were not as friendly as we would want them to me. At least they should introduce themselves!?! After a while they started to be a little friendlier, I think maybe they have angry patrons??? It's kind of not really what I expected when I look at the menu prices and the esthetics of the restaurant - It may be a little pricey, but I'm willing to give it another try. read more

This was the best Mexican food we've had at a restaurant since arriving in town a few years ago. Food was very flavorful and there was an amazing variety of items on offer. The focus is seafood but there are many other options. The shredded beef was delicious. The seafood is fresh and each dish seems to have an option for fried/breaded or grilled, which is great. The food was served hot, and that is a major plus. Very few places get this right. Can't wait to go back to try more seafood options, including the tower! Service was a little wonky, but they just opened a month ago so hopefully it will improved. Our tableside guacamole did not arrive until well after our meals were served, and it should be at the table right after the order is placed so it can be enjoyed before and during the meal. The manager visited many tables to say hello and see if everything was going well. The decor was pretty basic and the tables are all in one big room where there is a bar and window/door to the kitchen. There was a big mural of the logo, which has a chicken for some reason. Since they specialize in seafood I wondered why it wasn't a shrimp. We will return and will be recommending it to friends. read more

Not only was the service extremely slow, but one of our food items was completely missing from the order--and no one noticed or followed up until we had to ask about it ourselves. First time coming here and overall it was pretty good. The menu is very extensive (sorry I didn't take photos of it, I'll do it next time). We sat at the bar and got served right away. We had a few beers on tap and shared the Molcajete Mixto, which was HUGE! So, I'm glad we shared. This is a fun variation of fajitas. This place would be good for a larger group and the table should order a bunch of different plates and drinks to share. We love the food at Taco Giro but our visit on Sunday 5/3/26 was not pleasant. The food and server services were excellent, but my complaint is waiting for over an hour and 15 minutes for our food to make it to the table. Yes, we were a group of more than 20, but after we placed out food order a group of 10+ along with quite a few groups of 4-6 people were seated and all received their food before us. When I went to pay my check I was asked: "How was everything?" and I repeated what is stated above and was told that those other people's food orders were easier that's why they got served first!!! Their orders were not any different than ours and I then asked that if more people would have come in with so called easier food orders I guess we would have been there ALL DAY??? I will continue to dine at Taco Giro because of the food and the hard work of the wonderful servers, but cannot accept excuses that do not make any sense..... read more

My husband and I went to the newest location on Thorndale Road to try it plus out neighbor recommended it. I ordered the Fajita Asada and the meat was dry and tough (over cooked) plus the spice was sweet like Teriyaki and it was awful. My husband ordered the Meat Enchilada and got a cheese enchilada instead with squished up Jalapenos and he said that it was just ok.. I told out server that the Fajita meat was tough and overcooked and he smiled because he did not understand what I said. I will never eat there again ... read more

Service sucks at this location!! We sat down and ordered drinks and they took forever to get them to us. We ordered food and my wife got her food 1st. They dropped the table across from us next. The other two tables that order got their food next. Our server never ever came out to let me know that there was a problem in the kitchen and it would be a wait. I had to request our server to come and let me know the issues. They comped my dinner. There should be more communication from the server to the customer and from the kitchen to the server. This is the second time that we have dined here at this location and have had horrible service. We felt like we were inconvenience to them. Unfortunately we will not be back. I visited Taco Giro for the first time, and I was impressed by the variety of the menu... everything looks delicious with a great variety of dishes... a lot of options for those who don't eat meat or chicken... the recipes for fish dishes sound interesting to try. But the best part was the service at the Thornydale location ... Emanuel, the person who took care of us, was so good explaining and answering our questions, as well as his fast, friendly and excellent service. Thank you so much Emanuel.... We had read some great reviews about this place on the next-door app and have been wanting to try it out and saw that there was a enchilada special on Wednesday so that is what we got. For seven dollars two big enchiladas filled with chicken and a plate full of rice since I don't care for beans. Dinner also came with chips and salsa, which I really liked the flavor of the salsa. My daughter got the guacamole bowl and Tamale. She said her tamale was OK, but not her favorite, but that the guacamole was good. My wife also got the enchilada plate. As noted on the next-door app, the food was good plentiful but service is a little off. Both the ice tea and from my daughters opinion, the Dr Pepper taste it off. Overall, very good experience saw them come out with fajitas which looked and smelled awesome so that will be our next thing to try. read more

This restaurant just opened so I understand there will be kinks to work out but the service is horrendous. It was a little busy tonight at 5:30, they had just gotten a rush. We sat for about 10 minutes before getting chips and salsa by a woman that barely spoke English and tried to get our drink order. She brought our drinks and we waited another 20 minutes until someone came to take our order. I had went up to the host stand and mentioned we still didn't have a server, no one came. A guy at the table next to ours had let his server know we didn't have a server. What a mess. My order came out wrong, so even more waiting. On the other hand, the food was delicious. Sat down to an empty restaurant and waited more 25 minutes for some aguachiles. Server handed me a glass of water and never returned to ask me if I wanted something to drink after I had ordered food. Yes, the service here is much worse than you think or read. They don't wait on you right away after you sit down, and i had to flag down a waitress if i needed something more than once. So they basically serve you and forget about you and the food doesn't do this place justice. I know you're thinking well maybe the food makes up for it? nope. You don't get chips & salsa or drinks as you have to flag someone down constantly and coincidentally the manager asked us if we wanted chips & salsa only after we got our food. I had the molcahete mixto and it was nothing special or over the top. Everyone says the food is good here but in my opinion not worth the hassle. Infact i highly recommend you go to Guadalajara's instead; at least there you get service thats on point & everything is just better at Guadalajara's. Just avoid taco giro and you'll be glad you did.
