So recently when we had guests from Alaska I ordered takeout dinners to have at our new home in Marana. Be sure and tip the lady who makes the salsa to your specifications. She's probably not your server. Oscar was our server. He was very attentive and has a great personality. The decor was beautiful. Stopped by Guadalajara's and overall had a pretty good experience. The ambiance is solid--comfortable, welcoming, and has that lively, casual vibe you'd want from a Mexican spot. The fresh salsa was definitely a highlight--super flavorful and freshly made right in front of the table. I also really enjoyed the fresh lemonade; it was refreshing and not overly sweet, which was perfect. As for the food, the portion sizes were generous, so come hungry. I tried the Mexican seafood cocktail, and while it was decent, I've definitely had fresher. It wasn't bad by any means, just didn't blow me away. The guacamole, unfortunately, was a little too salty for my taste, but that might come down to personal preference. The service was excellent too! A group of us went for lunch recently and unfortunately it was not a great experience. It took a really long time to get our food and the restaurant was not packed. There were plenty of open tables around us but even getting salsa was 30 minutes after we got chips. Once we had finished eating we waited another 40 minutes for the bill and although we were told that we could have separate checks by table, they brought out one bill for all of us and refused to break it up. Me and my boyfriend came here on our Tucson trip. We found this spot by our hotel and decided to check it out. Upon entering the restaurant is decorated so cute. The decor is very lively and creates a fun atmosphere. We were seated in a booth and given our menus. The menus to this place are huge. It's basically a little book that you are given. It makes it hard if you're an indecisive person. But lots of good looking choices! There were vegetarian options as well if I remember correctly. Our server was slow with getting to us. However, we didn't mind it as we were enjoying the company. But if you are on a time crunch or not trying to be there long it may be an issue. Our favorite part was the salsa! They bring a cart around and make the salsa fresh in front of you. You can choose your spice level still while it is being made. For an appetizer we got the birria quesadilla. It was so flavorful and delicious. I would eat a whole one as a meal for sure. The meat was tender and everything was well put together. For food, I ordered a salmon plate. It was pretty decently sized and looked very appealing. It tasted pretty good, however, I'm not sure I would order it again. I would wanna try something different. My boyfriend got a fajita plate that had chicken, carne asada, and shrimp in it. Everything was tender and flavorful on his plate. It was a big plate and it still came with beans and rice on the side. Lastly, we also tried some drinks. We each got a margarita to try. They came out pretty and generously sized. Our one drink lasted us the whole meal time. They taste a little strong so try a sweeter flavor if you're not into that. Some fun information from their menu, they have a margarita fountain you can purchase for larger groups! Overall, we will definitely come back when visiting again. Food was great! But I placed a takeout order that they said would take 15 minutes. They were very busy so it took about 45, I get that. No where to sit while you wait. But then I got home and called in because my queso did not come with Chips. I thought they forgot them. Apparently they do not come with Chips, it comes with tortillas, Which is OK but they also were not in my bag . I called to check on it, I was put on hold and they forgot about me. Made a reservation, walk in, not very busy, get seated, 15 MINUTES GO BY BEFORE WE ARE EVEN ACKNOWLEDGED by one of the three hostess. She brought us waters. Then our drink orders and water refills took another 15 minutes! This is by far the worst service I've experienced. Chips and salsa are usually complimentary in most Mexican restaurants but not here. Both were good. Shrimp tacos (2) were served with rice and beans. Tacos were on a heated (but turned cold) corn tortilla, unfrozen shrimp, topped with lettuce and a side of sour cream and dab OG guacamole. They were awful. Tortilla fell apart and taco had to be eaten with a fork (!!!). Black beans came from a can, not even warm and topped with queso. White rice also not warm and tasteless. We ate here this week and it was pretty damn good . The table made salsa was tasty and so fresh ! I dont like chunky salsa but this was not that , it was super good ! My wife got the lobster enchi's and the sauce was really good and flavorful . When this place first opened it was an excellent addition to the pavilion. Initially the service was top tier and the food was excellent. Now it's just another wasted opportunity for a restaurant to succeed on this part of town. The food has drastically gone down in quality. The past THREE times I went we get at least one of our dishes cold. When you advise them of such, it appears they pop it in the microwave. The service is poor. Most of the time there is no hostess to sit you down when you enter. It's just a table with an iPad and a hope that someone will see you. Twice I had to physically walk in and grab a random waiter and ask to be seated. It used to be easier for them to see but now they put a small black curtain that blocks everyone's view. I normally give a higher rating for this establishment, but I dropped it this time due to several things. We had a party of 9 celebrating my upcoming retirement. My family was here from the Bay Area and the Midwest. No one answered the phone or responded to online attempts to make a reservation. We got on the Waitlist upon arrival, and we're informed that due to a Server not showing up, our table was ready but we couldn't be seated due to others covering the bar. We waited about 15 minutes and had a lovely start to our meal which included the tableside salsa and tableside guacamole. The wheels came off again when my daughter, who is a Chef at another restaurant, and my cousin were served their meals. They were to have a fan of avocado on the plate with their meal. I will include a photo of what they received. They both pointed out that the plating didn't match the description or photo to our Server. This is an absolute no. As a Hispanic woman, I'm sure I'm biased when it comes to Mexican food. Table side Salsa is neat. Nothing had seasoning. It took forever to get service to bring salt and pepper which didn't help the meal. Don't let the look fool you, bland, bland, bland. The restaurant itself is beautiful, sad there's no real pride put into the dishes. The best part was the beer. Nobody ever came to check-in, the person finally returned and asked if I wanted a box for my untouched food. The lack of care, and concern is shameful. I got the carne al carbon, the description said it had chorizo. Should have described as having a garnish. This is a $24 plate, which would be bad if factoring in the chorizo as a part of the plate as well. I did appreciate the medium cook if the meat, rice is meh, beans were terrible. The food here is very good, but honestly overpriced. Service is fine, but a tad on the slow side. Ambience is good, but whatever you do don't sit on the west side of the restaurant. It's a small somewhat enclosed area and it gets sooooooo hot, especially when the sun is setting. My family and I dined in this area for my brother's birthday at the end of January and it was just so hot and unpleasant. Tableside salsa is a good feature. I've gotten fajitas a few times and they are good. Portions are large too. Overall a decent option but there is often a long wait so keep that in mind. read more

Went on a Sunday evening, so it was quick to get a table. The music was enjoyable. They offer table side salsa with the option of heat level. It was a nice experience to have this a table side. However the salsa was so watery and lacked flavor, eespecially salt. We had to waive down the server for salt as there was none on the table. I had the seafood enchilada with 1 lobster, 1 shrimp, and 1 fish. Overall they were good, but the fish enchilada was too fishy tasting that I only had 1 bite of that enchilada. First and last time eating here. My carne Asada cartilage and other crunchy matter in it. My wife's shredded beef was overcooked to the point of being crunchy, as well. The server "misunderstood" my wife's drink order to serve her a drink $8 dollars more that what she ordered. The server also served me some garbage beer, other than what i ordered. I was visiting relatives in the area with my family who suggested Guadalajara's for a great Mexican cuisine. We were all very impressed with the service and high quality of food and diverse menu. Most of us started out with their signature Margarita which was very good. They also have quite a few specialty Margaritas. I highly recommend having the "table prepared" salsa and guacamole. They were perfect and spectacular. Even the house made chips were tasty and light. When ordering, I was between having the lobster enchilada or the Mexican Paella. The Paella is what I decided on which was excellent. Over Spanish rice, a tasty preparation of mussels, shrimp, chicken and fish. Full of flavor with just the right kick at the backend. Would go back, solely for the salsa! I ordered the chicken nachos. At first glance, thought the portion was a bit small, but I ate it for 20 minutes & it looked like I hadn't touched it! Soooo much shredded chicken, cheese and jalapeños. Yummy! Grandson ordered the chile Colorado and his plate was wiped clean with his flour tortilla - every bite gone! Husband ordered a dish with super tender beef and a nice sauce and corn tortillas. We've had enough... The food is always good, but here's the problem: 1. Servers rarely write down your order. Not exaggerating, about 40% of the time, they bring out the wrong food. Last time, I had to send it back twice. I ordered the combo (chicken enchilada and chicken taco). They brought me quesadillas and an enchilada. When they brought the replacement, it was all beef. They finally got it right the 3rd time. This seems to happen almost every other time we go there. 2. Last time we were there, they served our margaritas in much smaller glasses for the same price. Not cool!! 3. They seem very understaffed. Many empty tables, but they make you wait to be seated. There is no host, so just hope someone will see you. Also, on some occasions when seated in the restaurant, we've been surrounded by dirty tables. Once we were even seated at a table that was never wiped down. 4. A bit overpriced. There are no options for smaller orders for those of us who don't eat a lot. Our last visit was the last straw. Mexican restaurants in Tucson are everywhere.
