Last night, I decided to dine in. I have a service animal. He's a toy miniature Australian Shepherd. When I went into the restaurant, I ordered a burrito, chips and salsa and a drink. The manager, Becky, came out and told me that since I had a dog, I had to eat on the patio. I told her that he was a service animal. She said it didn't matter. I told her she should look up the law. She said she knows the law. I started recording her. I explained it again, that she could get the restaurant in trouble that she should look it up. She told me she did look it up. I have that on video. She was very sarcastic. To avoid further confrontation, I went to the patio. It was very dimly lit. I could barely see my food. I noticed a couple young employees came to the window and looked at me while smirking at me. It was very embarrassing. I decided to pull up the wall, on my phone and try to reason with Becky. I screenshot my findings, and went back into the store. I went in without my service animal. Even after I showed her the law, she simply said, "well, that's what I was told". I explained to her that I gave her a chance to look up the law. She said she did. She contradicted herself. I talk loud, because I have substantial hearing loss. So... Some kid tells me I have to leave because he's going to de-escalate the situation. He was just a worker and had no business interjecting in our conversation anyway. As I walked out, I noticed a very well dressed lady that had supplies in her vehicle. I asked her if she was the owner. She was. I told her what had happened, and she seemed to be empathetic. She actually said that she don't know what the problem is, because they also own a store in Peru and that dogs are welcome to come in and eat with their family. I told her that I was so embarrassed, I couldn't even eat my food. She didn't even offer a refund. We did exchange phone numbers, and now I wait to hear. I did send her the video. I actually have two videos of the manager and one of the owner. Recorded where the owner said that they don't have a problem with dogs coming into their restaurants. She didn't even mention service animals. Sad part... That was kicked out of another establishment just a couple days ago, for the same thing. Moon Dog. Pretty ironic that a police with, "dog", in their title would not allow a service animal. I'm adding a photo to show my service animal.

I lived nearly half my life in Arizona and California, where they know how to make good Mexican food. The food at Habanero was the blandest Mexican food I have ever encountered. Located in an industrial district, I wasn't too surprised when I pulled up after 7 one evening and it was fairly quiet. "Probably does most of its business during lunches," I thought. The hostess greeted me quickly and, when I asked if they had a bar area, she ushered me to it and I took a seat at the bar. I should probably have taken a clue from the fact that dirty glasses were clustered at the end of the bar, and there were neither bartender nor other patrons in sight. The other dinner patrons were in the dining room. Chips and salsa came quickly, followed by my bartender who took my order for a house Margarita, on the rocks. "Would you like salt or sugar with that?" should have been my second clue. Sugar? On a Margarita? The chips needed salt, but fair enough. Lots of people are watching their salt, and that was easily remedied. The salsa, though, tasted more like pureed tomatoes, lacking any kind of discernable heat. Strike one. The Margarita was also a disappointment: watery and weak. Though she poured the mix from a jug, it's not uncommon to prepare a large batch of mix early in the day and add tequila just before service, but that was not the issue here. Flavor and any punch from the tequila were conspicuously absent. Strike two. For my solid food, I ordered a chili relleno, my litmus test of a good Mexican place. While delivered quickly and piping hot temperature-wise, the sauce had an unusual sweetness to it while the poblano pepper had no. Heat. Whatsoever. Strike three. When I stood up, signaling that I was ready to leave, the server simply said, "You're ready for your check?" My Margarita was only about one-third gone, and I'd only taken a few bites of my relleno. An astute restaurant professional would have noticed that very little had been eaten and would have asked if everything was all right. It wasn't, but they either didn't notice or knew not to ask. A good four- or five-star experience - even after a single visit - will encourage repeat visits and a positive review will encourage others to try the establishment. A one-star experience, especially when it's the first visit, will not inspire the patron to give the place a second chance, and a review based on that single experience will likely have a chilling effect. Sorry to be "that guy," but I won't be back.

Depending on if you are ordering to stay and eat or to go, you can either eat in your vehicle or they do have a couple of picnic tables you can set at. Most recently, maybe a year or two ago, they added a little playground area for kiddos to play while waiting for their meal to be delivered. Most of the time, the car hops gals will bring your food out to your vehicle, on a tray that hooks on to your driver or passenger side window. The service is always excellent. The food is always amazing and the car hops whom take your order start their first job working here while they are in high schooler or on summer break. I highly recommend you try out B&K - South, once in your life, in Peru, Indiana. They're so kind, caring and deliver your order in a very timely manner. I also recommend their gallons of Root Beer. They have the absolute BEST Root Beer in town. You can buy it by the pint or gallon to take home. Its a MUST! The one and only complaint I have seen/heard from people is the parking when B&K first opens. (They are only open from Spring to the beginning of Fall.). They do get super busy when reopening for the season, but it is really not too bad to where the wait is way too long. (Also would depend on how long your lunch break is.) I would play it smart and call in to order ahead of time and pick your order up if you don't have a lot of time to wait. Once the excitement of reopening dies down, the parking gets a LOT better and service speeds up as well. I always have given B&K - Southside a 10/10. They have never disappointed!
