Worst Taco Johns ever don't waste your time won't make a order right terrible customer service do not recommend

The middle aged woman working the drive thru is unfriendly. I asked if I could substitute the burrito in the $5 meal deal with chicken and was told "no, has to be as is". So I just ordered a chicken burrito and she asks "is that it?" I say yes and pull to the windows, paid $5.02, and was handed a bag with a smirk. I got on the interstate and opened my burrito. It was a tortilla with 4 small pieces of chicken inside...that's it. I was angry and hungry but wasn't going to turn around. Rude staff, garbage service, disgusting food. read more

Time for an update. BIG improvement on the quality of service. Both of the people I dealt with were very nice, very friendly. I've had lunch here with my wife, and it's a usual TJs, but I am mostly interested in the breakfast. The breakfast burrito was still just ok. I think, and I could be mistaken, that there is a major difference between the corporate stores and the franchise stores. The corporate stores tend to be more egg heavy, less sausage. This was a better burrito this time, but still not as good as the shop in Ames. Perfectly fine if you need something fast. read more

I've had good service at this TJ. I was through the drive thru with hot food in about three minutes! I wouldn't say TJ is the best at anything except potato oles and nacho cheese. All the rest is filler. And their prices are higher than most fast food places around. You can expect to pay $9-11 for a "small" sized meal for one. If you have time, go inside and partake of the salsa bar. Then you can get your tacos filled to your preferred taste profile without those messy packets of thin sauce. read more

You know what I love about Taco John's? Everything. It is the highest quality Mexican fast food joint, it has the fabulous salsa bar, portions are not skimpy and prices fair. Yes, I am giving them five stars. That is for fast food. It would not be fair to compare them to a regular 5-star sit-in restaurant. My meal was great as usual. Our order was not only completely wrong but also cold and missing one whole meal. The staff seemed to have no clue what they were doing. It was mentally painful to watch their incompetence. This place is pretty good for fast food tacos as long as you order thee classics. Hard shell tacos are a must. Super good. Potatoes oles are also a must. Soft shell tacos are pretty good also. Everything else here is a hit or miss. If you order using my formula of getting the classics and perhaps adding something funky on thee side, you will be a happy camper. read more

When you've been traveling all day and there are few places open close to the hotel, plus you just want some food in your belly, I guess this is a good a spot as any. I was there late enough to get their late night taco deal, and to be quite honest, it was pretty good. I have to factor in the jet lag, the 7 hours where my only sustenance was a couple of airplane peanuts, and my impatience. But who knows, maybe I'll try it out again when I'm in town. read more

I like Taco Johns more so in the morning for their breakfast burritos, and the potato ole's are always good as well but this is by far the worst Taco Johns I've ever been to. Can't say much for the morning crew here or for that matter the morning crew at their neighboring Burger King either. While my friends and I were having lunch, we couldn't help but notice an SUV decked out with a trail of cans and 'Just Married' graffiti pull into the parking lot. When the happy couple got out of their vehicle and proceeded to enter our restaurant, I couldn't resist asking when they tied the knot. "Oh, last night, actually" was the new husband's reply. Exactly what you'd expect from a southwestern fast food joint, if your expectations were equal to a rest stop toilet. The food was greasy and lacked flavor and the service was mediocre. All of the workers seemed to be about 40 and lacked basic hygiene skills. I would recommend this if I hated you. That's about it. read more

Yikes.. The lady who took my order was really nice, asked me how my day was, ect. she told me to pull up to the first window- so I did. No one was there and I sat there for about 3 minutes before pulling up. Another girl opened the window and I told her no one was at the first window and went to hand her my card, she rolled her eyes at me and shut the window. Then an older lady came and took my card, not saying anything. Then the same girl who first opened the window handed me my drink and proceeded to slam the window shut- again. The older lady handed me my card back and when I said thank you, she just turned around and walked away. The younger girl basically threw me my bag, I again said thank you and she just slammed the window. The food is good, but I think management needs to have a talk with employees as this isn't the first time they've been rude. I understand everyone has bad days but it's happened too many times to keep ignoring. read more

Stopped in for a six pack and a pound. Got the uhaul stuck in the drive-thru, which made for an awkwardly awesome encounter at the order window, especially considering we kind of missed the entire ordering section of the process. I stopped for a quick lunch today at Taco John's. Service was pretty good the food was okay although they didn't put very much meat on their tacos but it tasted good. I think the overall cleanliness of the restaurant is poor. It's been several days since the front door had been wiped down and you could see a lot of fingerprints around the restaurant. Overall okay experience. I think taco John's really wants to have an above average experience so I don't think this restaurant makes that grade. read more

I've been to this location twice and both times they screwed up my order. Just save yourself the hassle and go to a different location.
