Taco King is the spot to stuff your face when you're hungover. The food is pretty dank, the best Tex Mex I've had in ages. They have a legit salsa bar, I highly recommend Pedro's hot salsa, very flavorful, not just hot. Pedro also delivers. There's a half dozen locations or so around Anchorage and maybe Fairbanks. The real travesty is TK isn't open late night for drunk munchies. read more

Food is pretty good, but I would avoid delivery. They overall loose stars for some service items. This place is usually pretty good but sometimes the restaurant itself is a mess and unclean, both in terms of the dining area as well as condiment / salsa bar especially. Wait time in the restaurant is not bad, but delivery time even when right down the street can be horrifically bad. I have ordered delivery twice now and each time over an hour and the last time was closer to two hours. No warnings on a two hour delivery timeframe and things that should have been crispy and meat that should have been still moist and warm by the time it arrived did not exist. read more

Well, to start off I was pretty excited about this place based on the reviews and the contant radio advertisments I've heard even since I landed in Anchorage. The first thing I noticed was how expensive this place was compared to similiar places I've been to in my travels, but I thouhg ' What evs, it's Anchorage'. I got back to my hotel with my take out and discovered the Speical tacos with chicken, very bland and needing lots of salsaa and crema for any flavor. Not to mention that you only get 2 tacos for 7$. Then I opened the torta de adobada and found a few small pieces of meat amongst a mound of lettuce, tomatos, and avocados on what looked to be a French Bagguette. I've never had a bad meal at Taco King, & I have been going there for at least 10 years. Last night I had their Halibut Tacos and they were great. My wife always has the special tacos (carne asada). Last night I ended up with one of them. Once again they were great. The only thing that we were a little disappointed with was the flan....It didn't have a lot of the carmelized syrup, and therefore seemed just a little dry. Still it tasted great, and this was the first time I've had a less than perfect flan from Taco King. One other thing, the service is always so fast it's almost unbelievable. Was craving tacos today so I stopped in, one of the worst decisions I ever made. I ordered two gringo tacos and two Mexican tacos. This is my third time trying Taco King at this location. I will say the first two times having their food was amazing. I lived in Cali my whole life and never had better carnitas. But god damn last visit was a disaster. They are not addressing social distancing, they let drug addicts come in and on top of all that, I called 30 mins before and my order still wasn't ready. AND it was the wrong order...I dont know what was wrong with the workers that day but I will trying the other taco king locations instead. Would have been 5 stars if the service wasnt trash. I absolutely love this Taco King. It's easy, fast, and the guys are great. I highly recommend the horchata, and any of their burritos. I'm here probably a little too often, and you'd be surprised how nice and appreciative the guys are when you leave a tip, I don't think a lot of people do. They cook everything right there, and are fast! I usually have my order to go, but if you're in the restaurant, they'll bring you your food, and are super helpful. read more

Taco King is a great inexpensive place to meet for lunch. I've been coming here almost weekly when I'm in town for lunch meetings with some good friends of mine who work nearby. Business has brought us to Anchorage for a multi-month period and the Tudor Rd. Taco King location is conveniently close to our lodging. Never having seen a Taco King restaurant, it was the "unknown" when we went the first time for a dine-in experience. What happened? We were served delicious food by a terrific restaurant team! In every possible way, we've been delighted with each experience. Once or twice a week we walk into this attractive setting (very tastefully appointed environment------the decorative, artful chairs lend great flavor to the establishment) and each time we've been impressed by the warmth and courtesy of the staff. I had done a pick up order and some of the food had fallen out of the to-go box and almost covered my drink. I had also received small portions of food for a high price. Ordered delivery tonight. They said it would take 45 minutes, nearly 2 hours later our food showed up. We were excited to eat, we ordered the deluxe burrito and the enchilada meal and both were tastless. No flavor at all. Then my wife went in for her second bite of enchilada and felt a crunch that almost broke her tooth. There was an end of a chicken bone in her enchilada. I was just in purchasing a burrito dinner that cost me $9.75. The counter person took my $20 and gave me a $10 bill and a quarter back. I suggest you get in the habit of giving small bills so that the customer can tip appropriately if they so desire. So I gave the $10 bill back to the young man and asked for a $5 and 5 $1's. I have been a regular Taco King customer for many years, and my family eats there about once a week. We usually pick up, but did delivery that last few times. Both times they gave the delivery driver the wrong address, ok so he calls and we work it out, no biggie. Then, on our most recent delivery, they forgot one entire meal. No big deal, mistakes happen. We called, and they said they would bring it right back. 1 1/2 hours later we call again. It's coming they say. We wait another hour and a half, call back and they are closed. We never got the meal and one member of our family was left out of dinner. (We have food they made something else Ofcourse.) I went to their website and wrote them an email about our experience. They simply didn't respond at all. No apology even, which would have gone a long way with this loyal customer. I gave them a week to respond before writing a public review. I'll take my business elsewhere, because there are plenty other restaurants with the same type of food around. A simple acknowledgement of the situation would have gone a long way, and perhaps helped to inform their future customer service practices. read more

I hope that I am not posting a negative post twice. If so the first was from my phone and I don't know for sure if it went through or not. If it did, well then this is just a repeat. I am completely unsatisfied with this place after my delivery order. I ordered a Tostada for my son and received a loaded chicken nachos instead. He is 4 and sour cream and guacamole aren't at the top of his list. My King burrito wasn't the worst thing. I did however order 2 extra chips and salsa. Are you kidding me. The chips were disgusting. I literally can't believe that they would deliver those. When you order from a Mexican restaurant and can't even receive chips that are store quality there is a serious problem!!! This wasn't my first bad experience with ordering food there. I simply wasn't on yelp the first time and also dismissed it as a possible "bad day". 2 for 2.
