    Burrito Bowls
    Jaime B.

We ordered Taco Libre for takeout on a whim after seeing everyone talk about it on Northshore eats on Facebook. We had the Birria Ramen soup, Esquite, Burrito bowl with ground beef. Honestly, the Birria Ramen soup was so different than anything I've ever had and I really enjoyed it. There was a ton of beef in it too. My wife enjoyed her burrito bowl, as well. The only thing we didn't really love or understand was the Esquite. It was super liquidy, to the point where you couldn't really eat it with chips without just eating the corn. Maybe it was an item that just didn't travel well. Overall, we'd definitely try here again once the weather's warmer and we can sit outside. The staff was super friendly and our food was ready quickly!

Great service. Excellent food. Used them for a condo event twice. People raved about the food.

I know I know. I already have reviewed this place a couple of times…read more I don't even know why other Mexican eateries open up in Beverly when La Vic is here. Every local gets food here. Every one. The food cannot be touched. By anyone. Enchiladas are great, burritos are standouts, brisket in anything tastes so good I you would think I'd made it. So tender so good not fatty at all. Truly, it's just great. And busy and packed and not cheap but not expensive either. So good. We go twice a month and have been since it opened. Small hole in the wall, takeout, and consistently good and busy. Go here. You will not be disappointed.

I was visiting from out of town, and my family recommended this restaurant. I ordered the torta…read moresteak con queso, a Mexican steak and cheese sandwich. It comes with lettuce, tomato, chipotle mayo, pickled onions, avocado, jalapeños, and pureed beans. I opted to omit the avocado, jalapeños, and beans. The sandwich was super flavorful and delicious. I usually don't like red onions, but the pickled onions on this sandwich were a tasty touch. Next time, I'll be getting extra onions--it was that good! The food was well-packaged, seasoned perfectly, and served hot. I was initially hesitant because I'm not usually a fan of Mexican food in the U.S., but they did a great job. Ten out of ten, highly recommend!

Tried Sala Restobar in Beverly and overall it was a pretty underwhelming experience…read more We started with drinks -- I ordered a piña colada expecting it to be blended, but it came unblended. Nothing on the menu or from the server mentioned that, which was disappointing right away. When I told the server I didn't like it and wanted something else, he literally tilted his head and said, "ummm what do I tell the bartender?" That honestly rubbed me the wrong way -- just felt unprofessional and awkward. Jenny got a tequila cosmo, which was fine, nothing special. Food-wise, everything was just average. The bao buns were overcooked and the bun fell apart, though the flavor was decent. The pineapple fried rice was probably the best thing we had, but even that was just okay. We also had dumplings -- Jenny liked them, but I thought they were just alright. Dessert was the biggest miss. The blueberry cobbler was not good at all -- maybe a 3/10 at best. One thing that really didn't sit right was when we asked to split the tasting menu and were told no. That doesn't make much sense -- if people want to share, especially for a tasting menu, it should be allowed. Overall, nothing stood out in a good way, and between the service and the food, solid ambiance , it just wasn't a great experience.

Portions were larger than expected, and each dish was very shareable, so you can easily try eight things instead of four if you plan it right. They also have live jazz music -- every Thursday from 7-10pm, and on Friday and select Saturday nights from 8-11pm. If you want a clear view of the musicians, try to sit on the right side (opposite the entrance), though the middle works too. It's a fairly small space, so most tables can see, and all tables can hear. Overall, it's a fun spot -- good food, a relaxed vibe, and the live music (when available) adds a nice touch. If you're looking for something new to try when in the Beverly / Salem area, or a good date-night venue, I'd check out Sala.
