Came across this taco truck because the one we always go to was closed for the day. My partner ordered a variety of tacos - el pastor, fatty beef, pork, and beef tongue. The beef tongue and el pastor were my favorites - super flavorful and delicious! The other fillings were good but not as amazing as the two. The tortilla shells were soft on half the tacos while some were so hard that it made my jaw tired from chewing. The hot sauces are very spicy- I prefer the green one over the red one. Aside from some hard taco shells in our order, I really enjoyed the flavors of the tacos overall. Would def continue to go back! Hopefully all the tacos shells will be normal texture! read more

I always get the al pastor quesadilla from here, which is very tasty. It's not technically on the menu, but I've never had a problem when I request it. There is only meat and cheese on the quesadillas themselves, which makes them very structured and easy to eat. Plus they come with shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, and sour cream. An excellent choice for lunch! The additional sauces are too spicy for my taste, but the quesadillas themselves are flavorful enough without adding sauce. Make sure to call ahead to place your order: to avoid the 10 min wait, plus to make sure they're open! They seem to be closed at random times. read more

All 3 were filled , heavy, meaning they are not being selfish with the meat and simply delicious . The Carnita (pork) was tender, full of spices with a flavorful rush to the senses. It literally melted in my mouth with every bite, a must order. The chicken taco another great tasting option. If you like chorizo with cheese these guys nailed it. Great tasting chorizo, a nice spicy sausage chopped and layered perfectly with the cheese holding everything in place. A blanket of deliciousness with a fresh warm tortilla enhancing this to a whole different level. All 3 for a grand total of $6.50, yes I did type that correctly without any errors. The best taco truck in the city of Philadelphia, I kid you not! I must have been here at least 3 times last week. The more taco places I ate at, the more Taco Loco stood out. The tacos here range from $2.50 to $2.75 and they load it with meat every time. My favorite was always the al pastor, their spicy pork marinated in pineapple tacos. The pork was packed with flavor and the pork fat helped caramelized the crust and crisp up the meat on the pan. The owner Carlos is just an awesome guy. He always served up my food with a smile. With the exception of maybe Blue Corn, I don't believe any other spots in the city can really compare to their al pastor tacos. Cheap eats, great service and absolutely delicious food, five stars. If you are going to order a lot however, make sure you call ahead, they are always busy so the wait can be long. read more

If you have every driving on Washington Ave by Sacks Playground, you must have seen a colorful food truck parked among the cars. We often come this way to go to our favorite grocery store and ended up finally trying this place. The menu offers everything you could be craving. We ended up getting 3 tacos and a massive burrito. The meats were all different and equally flavorful. I personally recommend the carne asada and the barbacoa. Service was quick, but standing at the food truck and smelling the amazing aromas only enhanced our appetites. Make sure to try their great hot sauces as well! read more

Went a little overboard ordering 9 tacos here when my normal truck wasn't open last Saturday. The shells were hit or miss here with some being nice and soft while others were extremely hard and chewy. As far as fillings go we tried the al pastor, fatty beef, pork, and beef tongue. All of the meats were flavorful and tender. If I had another criticism it would once again be with the shells as some of them were covered with so much grease it would start to drip. The two hot sauces that were provided with the tacos were both spicy but not overwhelmingly so. The green one is the more mild of the two but is a better flavor to me and the red/orange sauce was hot and a bit smoky tasting. read more

Taco Loco brought me back to my recent trip to Cabo... I was craving some seriously good, authentic tacos and decided to try Taco Loco out. It was a winner and I will definitely be back. We got three kinds of tacos (in order of preference): pollo (chicken), chorizo (a Spanish sausage), and astada (steak). All were served, two soft corn tortillas, with a bunch pile of meat, and some simple onions and cilantro. Very authentic, very simple, very tasty. We also tried a tamale. A friend asked if was worth the drive to South Philly to grab a couple of tacos off of a truck....absolutely. My favorite was the pastor that had the perfect amount of seasoning combined with onions and cilantro on top. Both the red and green salsas you get with your order are equally delicious and equally spicy. Living in California and Texas made me take for granted the vast amount of Taco trucks spread throughout the city... Philly doesn't have as many but they sure have a great one! read more

Ok wow....I am impressed. I just moved nearby right across Cousin supermarket and I kept spotting the truck. I had their steak tacos and they were delicious! The meat was tender and plentiful. I have seen the truck for a long time now but just had the first opportunity to give it a shot this week. I looked at the unfamiliar items on the menu, I saw the woman inside watching footbol on the TV - the truck has a dish on it!! How about this? Sorry, out. That? Sorry, out, all we have is pork or beef. Ok carnitas it is. The soft tortillia was heated on a flat top along with oil, and the meat was warmed beside the bread. After a few moments the tortillia was married with the meat and some cilantro and onions topped the deal. For 2.50 it was ok, not out of this world, however I have a few comments to add - first it was late on a rainy day - the fact that they ran out of stuff either indicates they are having cash flow problems or use fresh stuff rather then pull it out of the freezer.. I just had a taco to try it - i am a relative neophyte for real Mexican rather then taco bell type food, although I have had a few great meals at various full Mexican restaurants. finally I just love the fact that real authentic food is served from a street truck made fresh - street trucks get +1 star if they do even a decent job, and the place was clean and nice - next time i will be hungrier and will try an sndwich. Quick service of a cart +low prices+ (grilled soft corn tortillas+tender tasty meat+fresh cilantro+diced onions+a squirt of salsa verde)= some of the best tacos I've ever had The only drawback is that their hours seem to be random and inconsistent, but now that the weather is warmer, I anticipate that they will be open more often. One of my goto taco trucks in South Philly. I've been here a few times over the years. I consider them typical and their meats are consistently good. I think everytime i go they run out of al pastor which is my favorite. It happened again this past sunday when i went. I asked for 2 and the guy said "sold out" i said, "F^(&" and he laughed. Lol. I ended up going with a carnita and asada. Order took about 4-5 minutes and came out piping hot with the traditional toppings. He gave me two hot sauces. I don't really eat spicy food anymore, so i only put a little bit. My first bite, i realized i messed up and put too much! It was really spicy. But it did taste good with the fatty pork. The asada was also pretty bomb as it was tender and well seasoned. Definitely try this taco truck out if you're in the area. read more

I'm crazy for Taco Loco! Some of the best memories I have from last summer involve grabbing some food from Taco Loco. It was the perfect treat after a bike ride around the city. The food is extremely good and as mentioned before... better then some "Mexican" restaurants (Cantina... cough, cough). The chorizo tacos are my favorite, perhaps my favorite chorizo in the city??? For many moons, Susan G. has been on a mission to introduce me to Taco Loco. As we returned home from excursions to the Italian Market, we would slow down, squinting at the famous truck, trying to make out if they were open or not. I had lost all hope when, one magical day, we passed by and the awning was out. That seems to be the signal that they are open for business! We got Al Pastor tacos, because they are delicious, and eschewed hot sauce so we could revel in the delicious taste of the tender pork. They were piping hot - perfect for the cold winter day - and served on real corn tortillas. Definitely the closest thing to the tacos of Southern California that I'm used to, and I think the tortillas were a big part of that. They were made fresh while we waited, and were devoured in moments. Of course, part of me wishes they were open all the time, or at least open regularly, but part of me is intrigued by the mystery. I took my parents from NC here one day. I just love taking them to some of the more exotic places in philly. Ordered our food, and sat there on the sidewalks (taco loco provides chairs, duh) and watched the soccer game in the park. My mom LOVED it. I was eating here at least once a month, and I would drive all the way from jersey just to get some. People have been complaining about the service speed.
