The ambience is a bit boring. It is decorated, but it could use some spicing up. The service was pretty prompt. My son and I went for an early Saturday dinner so the place wasn't crowded. Nonetheless they got the food out pretty quickly, maybe 10 minutes for the first dish. If you like Kimchee, get the 3 kimchee sampler. It's easily enough for 3 to share, likely 4 or 5. We were only two and thus couldn't finish it. All 3 varieties were pretty good. They were flavorful and not overly spicy. I tried pork belly and grilled shrimp tacos. 2 tacos is about right for a meal as far as I can tell. A small person might get away with only one but it wasn't enough for me. I loved the pork belly taco. My son had a burrito bowl which he thought was decent. It's an interesting fusion of 2 cultures, which I liked and would return to try again. We stopped in after getting coffee at Palace Bakery. It piqued my interest and my sister said she'd been curious about the place for a while, too. The restaurant was really clean, and there were plenty of booths and tables. There's a register at which you place your order. The prices seem a bit high. The food was good; I'm not sure what my sister thought of her pork belly taco, but the guacamole and tao salad I got were excellent if a bit disappointing. I know that sounds confusing! The guacamole was like $7 for a small container, maybe like a two ounce portion cup? It was good and there was a lot of lime, but that's truly wild for such a small amount. They gave us about three times as many chips as would be necessary for that amount. As for the taco salad, again it was good (and the Korean-Mexican fusion comes in here in that the chicken had some kind of sauce on it, akin to teriyaki sauce), but they gave NO hint that because our order was to go, it wouldn't be in a taco bowl. What???! I don't know about anyone else, but one of the things I love about a taco salad is that crunch along with the salad fillings. If she'd told me that by ordering to go it wouldn't have come with the bowl, I wouldn't have ordered it. It also feels like a real scam to charge folks the same for a major part of the item that they're not getting. They should be charging less for a to-go salad if they're going to pull that kind of nonsense. Hence the three star rating. Good food, but questionable practice. First time back in a while and very glad to find that their BBB -- Bi Bim Bap -- was still very delicious. Request requested beef because I know that they are using the marinated bulgogi beef, which is really so tasty here. I added the mildly spicy gochujang sauce and asked for a little bit of sesame oil to lubricate everything better. I had a good side side of kimchi. This time I also ordered the pork taco because I had been wanting to try it. Loved how protein heavy the taco was as well. Service was excellent. The pork bbq tacos were good too but had a lot of strong flavors that didn't really blend together so well. When I first walked in the place was empty aside from one table being used. I was not treated and was not really sure if I sat myself anywhere or if I go straight to the cashier. But once I was acknowledged things went smoothly. The staff was very friendly. I ordered the vegan version of the bin bon pop. I believe is what is called. It was really good. I made one last stop here before heading back to California. I ordered the tacos and I definitely was a much better experience than the burrito we ate on our initial visit. The tacos birria with chicken were crispy, flavorful, packed with plenty of chicken. The taco entree platter was also nicely presented with beans and rice. It's an added charge for the entree meal plus the charge for each taco. We ordered the pork belly & shrimp--the pork belly was delicious! We also ordered the Korean fried chicken--sweet, sticky, crispy fried chicken nuggets--not bad, although I wish they offered a spicier version. This visit the food presentation was different compared to our initial visit--so much more pleasing, even the bulgogi quesadilla included a nice garnish in top. Overall, we still enjoyed our meal and won't hesitate to return when we're back in town. I was pretty excited to stumble upon Taco Mogo while strolling downtown. They call themselves a "Mexican-Korean Grill" I'd say that definitely made me want to go inside for further investigation... Overall it somewhat feels like an Asian-style Chipotle with a Korean twist. Some of the options are tacos, burritos, bowls & nachos combined with your choice of 5-6 proteins. I went for the 3-taco meal (around $10) with proteins of kalbi beef (beef in a Korean marinade) & ginger pulled-pork. I really enjoyed both of these. The ginger pork in particular was a standout, really tender and flavorful. The beef had nice flavors. My only criticism would be that some of the chunks of beef were a bit chewy and probably could have been cut smaller. Visually they looked great and I appreciated the pickled red onion, cucumber & jalapeño toppings. I would order any one of these again. They also tasted nice cold out of the fridge. Simple little restaurant. It was clean and well kept but nothing fancy/special. The tables outside on the patio are a nice additional touch to get some fresh air on a nice day. Food was decent, I would eat it again, but the prices make it hard to justify. Great Bulgogi nachos, but the Quesa Birria tacos were very mediocre. Overall, very good place. The space is clean and inviting. You order at the counter and then take a seat. Being my first time in, I struggled a little bit with the menu, but decided on the burrito bowl w/beef (bulgogi). The beef was excellent, lots of other fresh/tasty ingredients. My only complaint was that the overall mixture of hot/cold ingredients caused the whole bowl to be just luke warm. I'm looking forward to trying it again, I could easily see ordering something more to my liking and giving a five star review. Just know that with the "asian twist" on Mexican food, what you are thinking you are ordering in your head may be a little off of what you receive. Unbelievable! Delicious fusion of Mexican-format with Korean proteins--Kalbi Beef and Bulgogi Beef were our choices. Burrito and burrito bowl. Also had the birria eggsrolls. Pineapple salsa and the radish salsa are refreshing. I've dined here about 5 times in the last 2 months. Unfortunately, the last time it didn't hit the mark. Our order took about 50 minutes. Someone after us got their order before us. The place wasn't busy, but they mentioned they were down a chef when I inquired at the 40+ minute mark. I was so excited to try this place, and it was a major let down. To begin, the restaurant seemed empty as if were missing decor or something else to make it more inviting. It also seemed a little dirty, as if the tables weren't wiped off and there were napkins and other things strewn about the restaurant. We ordered a few different menu items, so a good variety to taste test. The chicken was rubbery and all of the dishes lacked flavor. The taste was pretty uniform in each thing that we ordered, just a "charbroiled" taste with some sauces on the side. The descriptions of flavors were much more interesting than the taste itself. My first experience here was having the beef Birria Ramen. It was simply amazing. I am a ramen fan gaining my expertise not through desperate college diets but growing up in a Japanese community in Los Angeles. J Town was my hang out in my teens and twenties and thirties. The ramen had a rich full-bodied broth and nice, but a little thick, noodles. The hard boiled egg was nice and the amount of beef was generous. The little corn shell taco filled with beef just made me glow. It was wonderful. My next experience was being treated to lunch by a friend. I had already praised Taco Mogo to the point where I was almost twisting her arm. We arrived as they opened. Found that the tables weren't wiped down. The forks and spoons, along with the napkins were placed right by the entrance door right above bins where you bus your own dishes. A couple little yuck factors there. My friend ordered two sweet potato tacos and I had the Bulgogi beef burrito. Turned out that the two tacos were tiny and sparse. Almost, but not quite reaching the appetizer size. I was embarrassed. My burrito started pretty well. The size was indeed impressive. Getting into to it was a disappointment. The beef made, at most, about 25%, of the burrito and it was stuffed all at one end. The requested kim chee about 10% and the rest was rice, which in itself was moist, looked good but was stunningly bland. Wading through mouthful after mouthful of rice wasn't all that pleasant. The next time that I return, insert lack of enthusiasm here, I will stick with the beef Birria ramen. A sure bet. read more
