Saw this place on social media and since I was in town, I made sure to check it out. The restaurant is in a corner and has it's own little parking lot. I missed the entrance so I parked at the big parking lot adjacent and walked over. I was greeted right away and was seated in a booth. There were a few people enjoying their meals. I ordered the steamed egg as an appetizer and the bi bim bap. The entree comes with an assortment of banchan and I was pleased with the selections. It was fresh and flavorful. I wasn't too happy with the steamed egg. It was dry and felt more like a baked egg. You can smell the baking soda/powder metallic, bitter smell in it. The bi bim bap was good. It came sizzling hot. I think the rice was just a tad wet because it didn't make a nice, even crust on the bottom. Instead, it burned some parts of the rice. As for flavor, most of it had to come from the bottle of 'bi bim bap' sauce that was watered down. After I doctored it a bit, the dish came out perfect. I feel this place has a lot of potential. Prices were a bit on the high end, but this is Eugene and there isn't much or any competition for Korean restaurants here. We arrived a little before the lunch buffet ($22) was set up. The server was very kind and patient with us as we debated on individual vs buffet for lunch. She also checked in with us a lot. It was very spacious and cute inside; it could honestly fit lots of people inside and I wish they were more busy. We decided on the buffet because of the options: tofu yukhejeong, doenjang jigae, veggie tempura, pork bulgolgi, spicy pork bulgolgi, japchae, mandu, and green beans stir fry with barley tea. And of course so much banchan to choose from: kimchi, cucumber kimchi, sweet potatoes, and more. All of it was very tasty except for the marinated pork rib which was OK. If you are looking for authentic korean food, this is legit and definitely worth the price. Got into Eugene in the late afternoon after a long drive and found Seoul K-food via Yelp. I arrived too late for lunch but too early for dinner so the restaurant was unusually empty. When I was on the way out several groups were walking in. Also, they did a steady amount of takeout while I was eating. The restaurant is clearly popular. And deservedly so, my spicy beef bulgogi plate was on point...I mostly remember the beef being very tender. I also like the accompany banchan. I also ordered a steamed egg, which was light and fluffy in texture! Go good. Service was good, never had to ask for a water refill which I appreciated. Unassuming on the outside but bright and welcoming in the inside. Came here to check out the lunch buffet and it was all very flavorful and fresh. Staff was friendly and checked in on what was being eaten more at the time and asked us what we liked most so it would be made fresh(er) for our next refill. My favorites were the fried tofu, spicy pork, and seaweed soup. I checked out their menu and didn't opt to get anything this time but the options all look good too! This excellent Korean restaurant was a wonderful surprise. Our kids fell in love with the extensive authentic menu and suggested we try the place. You'd never know how comfortable and inviting Seoul K is unless you stop in. It is impressive. The owners and staff are wonderful too. Very attentive, nice people. Best of all the food is great. Julie and I went in for lunch yesterday and were definitely impressed. We had Dolsot Bibimbap (amazing) and the Spicy Pork Bulgogi (a bit mild for our tastes but still very tasty). Coming from Houston, I was beginning to wonder if I'd find a Korean restaurant that made me feel at home. Seoul K-Food has done the trick! The food was delicious. There is a wide variety of different Korean specialties, like tofu and kimchi soup, kimchi or green onion pancakes, tteok-bokki, bulgogi, bimbap, and more. Banchan for all! We loved everything we ate here - although I do wish spicy really meant spicy in this town! Parking is plentiful, and the inside is spacious for a group of any size. Don't let the outside fool you, this is the best Korean food in Eugene. I avoided this place for months because it looked like a cross between a Chinese Buffet and a Pizza Hut from the outside. Inside, the restaurant is clean and comfortable. Service is friendly and prompt! And the food... we have Korean roots and we all felt the food was fantastic! A great example... we got poricha! First time since living in Seoul that I have been served poricha! We ordered the mackerel, which was well cooked and very large compared to other places. The banchan was flavorful and made in house. The chigae was spicy and well flavored! The lowest point of the meal was the juk, which I was very excited to see (finally an Asian breakfast food!). The server admitted that it was not made in house, and it was very sweet. I was hoping for a savory option, so I will try a different type next time (there were 5 varieties on offer). Banchan- Napa Kimchi and cucumber kimchi was decent but didn't taste especially fresh, sweet pickled radish was good but a little too sweet, blanched broccoli needed a bit more sesame, Mac potato salad had very al dente noodles, but namul bean sprouts was great. Overall 3 stars. Mul Mandu - not sure if they ran out of the moon-shaped kind featured on the menu, but flavors were still on point. Not handmade but kiddo-approved! 4 stars. Pajeon - great flavors but reminded me more of a Chinese pancake. The consistency was off since I was shredding as we tried to pick it up and eat it. The dipping sauce was stellar and the perfect accompaniment. 4 stars. Kimchi-jeon - same as the pajeon, but filled with delicious kimchi. There seemed to be more kimchi in it than I've had in this dish at other restaurants (which I loved) but it was a little thick and we were again struggling to cut it and pick it up without it falling apart. 4 stars. Doenjang-jjigae - loved all the veggies but the meat was very tough and chewy and the stew extremely watery. 3 stars. Kimchi-jjigae - again very watery and meat was subpar. 3 stars. At $22, it's not cheap, but the quality and variety of food make it worthwhile. It does seem heavy on meat dishes so vegetarians might not find it as enticing. Great Korean food in Eugene Oregon of all places! I came to visit some friends at the university of Oregon for a weekend. A friend brought me to this restaurant and I was honestly shocked how authentic each order was. For context I am from Los Angeles where Korean food is very prevalent and a staple to the community. I practically eat it everyday. I came with a group of around 6 people and we ate family style and every person picked an entree. We must have had at least 8 or 9 plates on the table. As I sample each order my taste buds were in shock by the powerful juicy, umami flavor. The beef were tender the soup was spicy but flavorful and the noodles were absolutely chewy,soft, fresh and cooked to perfection without a doubt of unwavering flavor. Yum! Excited to have a new Korean place in town. I enjoyed my Korean-style ramen. The banchan was good, too (I liked the bean sprouts and zucchini.) I asked about tea, and found out they will serve you a free cup of barley tea if you ask, which I enjoyed, too. All the staff I encountered were friendly and welcoming. Disclaimer: This review is merely based on the service and not the food. When we heard of a new Asian/Korean restaurant opening up in the area, my family and I were excited to try it. We went in on Monday during dinner and it seemed promising with customers seated and also waiting for pick up orders. When we first walked in, we waited to be seated but no one greeted us and we had to flag down staff multiple times to put our name on the waiting list. Once we were finally sat down, we were given menus but no cutlery or waters to start. After looking over the menu, we waited another 20 minutes for staff to take our order as the staff kept walking around, helping other customers and bussing tables, completely ignoring us. The final straw for us was having the three parties behind us served first with utensils and water and had their order to out in. After 30 minutes of waiting and no assistance, we decided to just leave the restaurant. As we were leaving the parking lot, a worker chased us out and said that she didn't know that no our order wasn't taken and that she would rush to get our order in but at that point, we were already tired of just waiting and left. We were very disappointed with our trip here as we were excited to try this place. We will try and give this place another shot later down the line as the lack of employee training could have been a factor as it was recently opened. read more

First of all, I want to start by saying we thought it was open for breakfast during the week so we took the hour drive on a Wednesday. When we got there, it was not open. The door was unlocked and I pulled it open and was greeted by a very nice lady who told me they opened at 11:30. I was disappointed, but Figured I'd just come back another time. She actually came out to my car and told me to come inside and served us up bibimbop right then and there. It was only 10 in the morning . This review is specifically about the vegetarian options. The waitress walked me through a ton of menu items that can be made vegetarian upon request, or that are already veggie. Yay! The absolute winner was the pajeon, the green onion pancake. Perfectly seasoned, great chewy texture, not too oily but still crispy outside, sauce goes perfectly. I would go back just to order this. Soondubu can be made vegetarian. It's soft tofu in a spicy and sweet broth with onions, eaten with rice. There's not a lot of variety of veggies in that dish, as it's mostly tofu, onions, and broth-- you have to really commit to that one profile. But the dish is like comfort food on a winter day, or good if you have a cold. Soups come out in a sizzling bowl. Portion sizes are big. Everything comes with six good-quality banchan. They were not best banchan I've ever had but I enjoyed the variety. They had white seaweed salad in mayo, which none of the other Eugene Korean restaurants have. My dining companion loves enoki mushrooms and ordered the tukbaegi bulgogi (beef soup with sweet potato noodles) because the menu picture showed mushrooms on top. He was a little bummed when it arrived without any mushrooms, but said the flavors were good. Maybe it's worth asking the waiter if you're committed to the dish arriving as pictured in the photo. For those concerned about plastics: takeout containers are reusable plastic for the soups and less reusable clamshells for the pancakes and appetizers. For those invested in atmosphere: the interior of the restaurant still looks a bit like a pizza hut, and the seating arrangement feels odd, but it's clean in there and there's k-pop playing on the screens, so it feels like a mom 'n' pop vibe. (I'm not sure it's fair to judge a brand new restaurant on interior design-- let's all patronize the place first and give them the funds to remodel it!) Service was fast and friendly. As a Eugene native (but now an out-of-towner), I was pleasantly surprised to find Seoul K-Food in South Eugene. We ordered just two items, the Yukgaejang (spicy beef soup) and Kimchi-jigae, which are both classics. The Yukgaejang came out piping hot and had the perfect level of spice - I would happily finish a whole bowl. The ingredients tasted fresh and the soup wasn't too oily or salty. Delicious and perfect for an autumn evening! As is customary, the meal came with a round of banchan, which are the small side dishes that come with the meal free of charge. They typically include some variations of kimchi and other small salads. One of my favorite parts of eating at Korean restaurants is the banchan, and Seoul K-Food definitely delivered! We were met with very warm and attentive service from the owner of the restaurant and other staff - although we did come a bit later in the evening and things were slowing down.
