Known about this place for a very long time and finally gave it a shot!! I was craving tacos at 8:30 am (don't judge) and this place was open and ready to go. Got the steak corn taco plate and chicken nachos. The plate came with beans and rice, both were great and the tacos hit the spot. The slaw on the side was interesting and very different. I enjoyed it!! Next time I think I'll ask to have the nacho toppings on the side, by the time I got it through delivery, it was very soggy and hard to eat. The chicken and beans were amazing though!! Only downside is I ordered two salsas, which they charge extra, and they came in very tiny portions. Barely enough for two tacos!! It's been a while since I've eaten something with such little flavour. The lettuce was so roughly chopped I could barely process it onto my fork and the ingredients were tasteless. Definitely my go to Mexican food place when I come visit TX again (from California and we know what our Mexican food should be tasting like lol). We ordered pastor nachos, wet burrito with cheese sauce on the side (to-go), and street tacos: fish, steak, pastor, and carnitas. Got a Roanoke Cobb salad to-go for a quick lunch. The place was clean and staff were very friendly. The salad was plentiful (couldn't finish it) and had a good amount of toppings and a larger size dressing cup. I enjoyed the toppings and especially the crouton mixture different and nice. HEAVEN. Plenty large enough for 2-3 people. 3$. Well worth it! Now tacos. Chopped steak (not ground) well seasoned. We added a slice of avocado to each. 3.50$ for 10 tacos. Again, well worth it. Raw onion and grilled. A nice light slaw. Lime juice. Drool. OK, the drool was mine. There were three sauces. A light green one that was yummy. Fresh. Like avocado/jalapeño cream sauce. A mild and spicy red sauce. We each had 5 tacos. Easily would have fed 3 people. I did manage to stuff 4 of those bad boys down my pipe though. Y'all just go. It rocks. Disgusted, to say the least! I ordered a salad bowl, asked for fajita chicken, and got regular chicken breast instead. When I bought it to what seemed to be the owner's attention, he did nothing about it. He told me that it would be an upcharge of $4. I told him it was fine, and he said they would have to throw the chicken breast out and couldn't make the fajita chicken for me. TERRIBLE SERVICE! I also ordered a fish plate crispy, and it came out grilled. I informed the owner that the fish had been cooked incorrectly, and he started making excuses for not making the fish crispy. Ok, so this has been one of our favorite hole in the walk places. We were on the pool yesterday and wanted a quick lunch we could go to with wet hair. Salad bowl it is. Only to fine it has changed. The salad bowl? Sounds like another health conscious eating place. Yes, it's healthy eating. But it's more than that. It's a nice Mexican place off business 114 in Roanoke. The place is not big with two long community tables in the center and a few tables against the wall. Many people simply grab the food and go. There's a salad bar to your left when you walk in where a server picks out your salad items based on the salad dish you order, such as chipotle chicken, Napa valley, etc. The vegetables all look very fresh and offer a good variety. You can also order other items such as tacos and fajitas from the wall menus. I ordered a fish taco platter that came with rice and salad. The fish was nicely grilled and reasonably tasty with some fresh cabbage mixed in. There were two tacos. By the time I got to the second one, the taco shell had become too soggy and started falling apart, which made the eating a bit messy. One other interesting thing is it came with a salad, but the portion was so skimpy. There were only a small handful of lettuce and a slice of tomato without any dressing offered. And I had to ask for it. Anyway, if you want to try something different than going to a Taco Bell, this is a good choice. The place is clean, and the prices are very reasonable. Been eating here for years. It started out as a salad place, but is now a salad place slash taqueria. Just the sort of thing you'd imagine finding in Roanoke. I'm not much for salad, but my brother loves going there for that. I enjoy the breakfast tacos and burritos. They are the best I've had locally. My absolute favorite is the torta de carnitas. Don't let the name fool you, this place is much more than salad. My go-to is actually the taco salad but I've had a lot of the Mexican food too. Other than one burrito that was entirely too salty, everything I've had was fresh and tasted great. Today I got the fish taco lunch special and I'm not sure I've had a better fish taco in Texas. Be warned, the red sauce is super spicy. Service is usually pretty quick, everything is reasonably priced and the portions are good. It's not many places I can think of I love going to from week to week to have lunch. But, the salad bowl is one place that comes to mind. A few of my colleagues and myself eat here once a week and we love it! I personally get the chicken taco on corn tortilla plate and I have done this for a few months now. I love authentic Mexican meals and I get that here. I have not branched out to other meals on the menu but, my colleagues have and they enjoy it. I had to write this review it's been a long time coming. A few good things about this place are: it's very diverse, consistent quality food, and awesome service. If I had to say something negative it would be the seating. It is pretty small as far as seating but, the food makes up for it. That's why they are so crowded during lunch. One last thing, they offer a fresh create you own salad which is very popular and something I might try as well. P.S. try the green taco sauce, it's my favorite!!
